Each Monday in Chicago, we gird ourselves for the most recent score. Not on how well the Bears, Bulls or Blackhawks, Cubs or White Sox have fared, but on how many new victims of guns have been racked up. Two weekends ago, three were killed with 17 other shooting victims, according to CBS News. |

The mainstream media wants you disarmed. Yes, you! Gun owners frighten the media elites. That is why the media makes up stories about gun owners like us. Massacres sell advertising, but the main stream news media didnt report the many armed citizens who stopped mass shootings.
The media didnt tell us that violent crime has fallen while gun ownership has soared. The media didnt mention that Americans think carrying a concealed weapon makes all of us safer rather than less safe. The media stayed silent because those facts dont match the story they want to tell.
Violence is an old problem. Too bad those small solutions will never make headlines. |

Florida's first bear hunt in 21 years has fallen victim to its own success. Florida's hunters killed so many bears over the weekend that state wildlife officials shut down the hunt on Sunday night, ending what was envisioned as a week-long season after only two days.
I have signed the order to close the hunt, state wildlife commission executive director Nick Wiley said about 8:45 p.m. Sunday. |

From pot to guns. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is changing the emphasis of his 2016 campaign for governor to gun control, which will keep him so busy he will have little time to get deeply involved with the other initiative he has been close to in recent years legalizing recreational marijuana. |

The debate over measures to reduce gun violence poses a cruel paradox. The most effective steps are politically unthinkable and likely unconstitutional. More restrained approaches, such as tighter background checks and reduced ammunition magazine sizes, have proved maddeningly impossible to maneuver through the political process and are open to the charge that they would not stop the killing. |
