In 2003, .45 Glock Automatic Pistol (GAP) ammunition was introduced as the first cartridge to have the Glock name attached to it. Designed as a rimless, straight-walled round, the .45 GAP shares the same bullet diameter of the popular .45 Automatic Colt Pistol (ACP), a hefty .451 inch. For the .45 GAP, the bullet sits in a .755-inch casing (the same length of a 9mm shell), giving the full ammunition an overall length of 1.070 inches.

The guns on both sides were plentiful.

But two opposing groups managed to both rally at the same Allendale area park without any skirmishes.

The American Patriot Council and Justice for Black Lives held rallies just a few hundred yards apart Saturday, Oct. 24, as Ottawa County sheriffs deputies kept a close watch and made sure the groups did not intermingle.

Both groups appeared to come prepared for possible trouble, with people in tactical gear and wearing guns on both sides. Media from both local and national outlets had a strong presence at the event.

New polling data from Rasmussen shows President Donald Trump leading former Vice President Joe Biden in a couple of key states, and those surveys were taken before the final presidential debate that found the Democrat caught in some embarrassing falsehoods, as noted by a fact checking story appearing on both sides of the country Friday.

The North American Arms (NAA) .22 Magnum mini-revolver is a single action firearm with a minimalist design which allows it to be concealed and kept close at hand in the event of an attack or other cause of duress. NAA mini-revolvers have been on the market for decades and the .22 Magnum is one of the popular configurations. The one we tested was a .22 MC, which means it ships with two cylinders and can be converted to .22 Long Rifle by simply switching out one cylinder for another.

If you buy essential oils on the lower rungs of the quality ladder, the worst thing that can happen is that youll be out a few bucks and feel a bit slimy. Oh, and your friends will think you weird for investing in magic oil in the first place. If you buy a self-defense gun that doesnt rank above the midpoint of the Gunsumer Reports Annual Ballistics issue, it might cost you your life. And for cheaping out on so important a decision, your friends might arrange for Cardi B to lip-sync the Baby Shark song at your funeral.

The old idea, If you want to understand whats really going on, follow the money, certainly holds true when it comes to gun-control groups. The NRA gets its funding from millions of members and supporters who cherish American freedom. In contrast, as youll see here, the vast majority of money fueling gun-control groups comes from a few mega-wealthy individuals who live very protected lives, but dont think you should have the same security as they do.

The New Hampshire Attorney Generals office says state and local authorities cant prevent people from bringing guns into polling places, even those located in school buildings but they will be on alert to respond to anyone, armed or otherwise, who is interfering with someone else's ability to vote. "We are not able to use any of our New Hampshire election laws to prohibit a voter from entering to vote if they have a firearm, and that includes if the polling place is a school, Assistant Attorney General Nicholas Chong Yen, who leads the states Election Law Unit, during a call with local clerks earlier this week.

As the snow comes down the mountain, Im still in the hunt for some great adventures around the state. To be prepared, though, its time to get the tires changed out for those over-the-pass drives when the rain changes to snow and ice. Sitting in the tire shop, I checked in with Jon Faulkner for a weather report in Homer.

Theres a commonly used expression in the hunting and fishing world: Thats what its all about! I know its applied in other types of conversations about sports, holidays and family traditions, but its frequently exclaimed in tree stands, boats and outdoor-related social media posts. Its a good one that I often use myself. When I think about a double date style ice fishing trip with friends last January, the last deer my mom got, or the feeling of looking into a freezer filled with wild game, I think to myself: Thats what its all about!

"Pro-life" Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who will almost certainly be seated on the Supreme Court this week, seems to have no problem putting guns in the hands of individual Americans who want to buy them every Tom, Dick and Kyle. She reportedly takes "an expansive view" of the Second Amendment, writing in her only ruling on gun regulation that it should not be considered "a second-class amendment."

It comes as no surprise former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris are campaigning on promises to end our gun-violence epidemic. The leftward drift of the Democratic Party on most policy questions, including lawful firearm ownership, has been made explicit in its 2020 party platform. The presidential nominees campaign issues page takes it several steps further, promising to pass or incentivize all manner of gun restrictions.

AK: Whether you choose cheap or fancy, the shotgun that fits and feels right is the one you will love

My first day of amateur trapshooting was as an adult at the Snowshoe Gun Club on the Kenai Peninsula. That day, I shot a blocky shotgun belonging to another club member. The single-shot BT-99 felt heavier and less sophisticated than the slim 20-gauge I had learned to shoot for duck hunting.

Why does it have a square forend? I asked.

In my limited experience, shooting only two different shotguns in 12- and 20-gauge, I had not yet seen a front section on a gun shaped like a platypus bill. It struck me as being like a square-toed shoe. I didnt understand the look of a flipper on footwear or a firearm.

Just like any other defensive platform, there are ways to work with or around pocket pistol features in order to make the most of their advantages and minimize their disadvantages. Pocket-size handguns are often criticized for being difficult or uncomfortable to shoot, and many owners and users don't spend the time or energy they should to truly receive all the benefits of these easily carried arms. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

Andrew Gordon of Brewer had a pretty eventful morning on Saturday, as he watched a steady parade of deer visit the tree stand he was sitting in during Youth Deer Day. First, a couple of does stopped by for a visit. Then, another. Eventually, the first two deer returned. And finally, a big-racked 8-point buck stepped into view 125 yards away.

Safe and fire are two commands most of us are familiar with. But those two words took on an even greater and more personal meaning for me recently. Like any responsible firearms owner, my guns had been securely locked away, out of sight and out of reach from unauthorized individuals, whether family, guests or anyone else entering my homeinvited or uninvited. But recent events in California have caused me to reevaluate the safeguards I had taken to protect my guns.

More than 20,000 hunters are expected to take to the woods for New Hampshire's upcoming muzzleloader deer season. Muzzleloaders are single barrel, single shot guns that require the bullets, primer and powder to be loaded through a muzzle each time before firing. Muzzleloader hunters are given 11 days prior to the opening day of the regular firearms season to hunt deer. That window starts Oct. 31 and ends Nov. 10.

Around this time of year in my part of the country, a lot of folks start thinking about elk hunting. Elk are big and pretty tough cervids, and a lot of guys believe they need more power than a .270 Win. or .30-06 Sprg. in order to kill one. Thats not really true, but beliefs are often immovable. Among the power folks, the .338 Winchester Magnum is a popular choice.

Several dozen people came to a rally organized by the right-wing American Patriot Council that took place in the Town of Montgomery's Benedict Farm Park Saturday afternoon. But those who showed up only seemed interested in promoting their first- and second-amendment rights and, in some cases, President Donald Trump's re-election.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin Historical Review of Pennsylvania. [Note: This sentence was often quoted in the Revolutionary period. It occurs even so early as November, 1755, in an answer by the Assembly of Pennsylvania to the Governor, and forms the motto of Franklin's "Historical Review," 1759, appearing also in the body of the work. Frothingham: Rise of the Republic of the United States, p. 413. ]
