My thinking on the subject has evolved. But I will start by saying I am a responsible gun owner. I dont want to take anyones second amendment rights away but I think we need to do something. I would restrict the age for buying certain weapons from 18 to 21 and I would strengthen background checks including allowing the schools to alert public safety folks if a kid is going seriously off the rails, Johnson said. I will also put a heavy dose of mental health experts in the schools. |

Mastriano said he wants to see adequate funding for law enforcement, strengthening penalties for repeat offenders, supporting funding for additional prosecutors in high-crime areas and removing elected officials from office who dont enforce the law or prosecute crime. Mastriano said he will also make sure Pennsylvania will not be a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants, but rather make it a Second Amendment Sanctuary where all gun rights will be protected from the federal government. |

Bolsonaros support for property rights and his loosening of gun laws for self-defense also appeal to rural producers who associate the PT with landless peasants who invade unproductive plots, said Allim Bassitt, a 65-year-old cane and beef farmer.
The PTs Taise Braz, Catanduvas first-ever Black councilwoman, said the most die-hard Bolsonaristas can be found among the citys elite, comprised of wealthy farmers and businessmen. Although their numbers are relatively small, she said their views have an outsized influence on an aspiring middle class. |

Cedar County Sheriff Warren Wethington is one of six sheriffs officially endorsing the proposed amendment. He calls it the freedom amendment.
It needs to be in the Iowa constitution just simply for the fact that if you have your Second Amendment rights violated, the way it is now, you have to wait until you get time in a federal court, Wethington said. It can be dealt with at a state level now.
Dennis Goldford, a political science professor at Drake University, says he questions the ethics of law enforcement endorsements. |

At one point on Friday, the office sent this statement:
The General Assembly has granted courts some authority to limit or deny access to firearms for offenders convicted of a felony offense, criminal defendants on supervised probation, and when an individual suffers from a mental health condition that results in civil commitment.
News 4 followed up with the governors office about what law that comes from but they have not responded with any sourcing.

As a former county prosecutor and Ohio Attorney General, DeWine has proven he is serious about fighting crime. But on that front, Whaley accuses DeWine of caving to the gun lobby by backing permitless concealed carry, stand your ground legislation and arming of classroom teachers. But he maintains his belief in the Second Amendment and knows the states focus needs to be on keeping guns out of the hands of violent offenders banned from possessing firearms.
DeWine backed legislation that clearly allows local control over whether to arm teachers where it belongs. |

A controversial mural depicting a large bullet, the California bear and the words "guns ammo supply" can stay where it is.
That was the decision of the Ridgecrest Planning Commission on Oct. 25.
Commissioners found the mural's content and artistic merit met city standards and the only issues were the size of the signage and the fact that the mural could possibly be seen as additional advertising for applicant Aaron Podell's gun shop Brass Depot. The shop is located in the building the mural decorates.
Podell's mural was found to exceed the amount of square footage allowed for signage; the conditional use permit extended the amount of signage allowed for the building. |

Cunningham agreed and said that there can be a middle ground found between respecting the Second Amendment and common sense gun laws. |

A man arrested for shooting a 17-year-old boy to death in Willow Creek has been released from jail with no charges filed.
Peter Norton, 25, arrested for suspected murder early Sunday morning, was freed Wednesday after the district attorney had not filed charges within the mandated time. District Attorney Maggie Fleming, though she said the investigation is continuing, said it appears the shooting may have been justified.
The investigation to date includes statements by witnesses to the tragedy who told the investigators that Peter Norton shot the 17-year-old after the 17-year-old male made threats and then held a gun to the head of a female who was present, Fleming said in an e-mail. |

A jury late Thursday acquitted a South Miami-Dade man who claimed he acted in self-defense when he fatally shot a neighborhood rival who was riding a motor bike toward him.
Jurors deliberated just over two hours in acquitting Daishun Doctor of a charge of second-degree murder.
Doctor, at this weeks trial, testified that as he was driving down a Perrine street, he saw Devin Smith riding toward him while on a motorbike. Jurors saw surveillance video showing Doctor slowed down his car, opened the door, and fired a volley of bullets hurling Smith from the speeding bike. |

But with more than 1 million votes already cast in Texas, Uvalde families who have been most outspoken since the May 24 attack are facing an uphill climb for bigger shakeups on Election Day, including a change in governor.
Abbott, who has waved off calls to tighten Texas gun laws since the shooting, has never trailed in polls. He is also seizing on national headwinds facing Democrats, who are in danger of losing control of the U.S. House, which could scuttle the chances of tougher gun laws at the federal level for the next two years. |

Leadership in Georgia has a track record of letting you down while increasing their control over your daily life.
Property taxes, income taxes, gas taxes, occupational taxes and sales taxes all give your wealth to a ruling bureaucratic class. Meanwhile, those taxes hamper your ability to start and run a business or leave a legacy for the next generation.
Shane Hazel is Georgias libertarian gubernatorial candidate. Shanes quick summary of libertarian philosophy is Dont hurt people and dont take their stuff. The state government of Georgia does the exact opposite with civil asset forfeiture, blacked-out police cruisers, lockdowns, the smart city surveillance state or health mandates of any kind. |

Under the bill, there will be money to help states enforce so-called red flag laws that help authorities temporarily take guns from people considered threatening and for other states violence prevention programs. Murkowskis office, when the bill passed, labeled as a myth any suggestion that the measure forces states that dont have red flag laws to adopt them.
Tshibakas campaign has said red flag laws can be abused. And she said Thursday that she would not have voted for the measure she called extreme. She said she would like to see more funding for school and mental health counselors. |
