Criminal charges will not be pursued against a Bonner County woman who shot her husband to death during an attack on Tuesday.

Bonner County Undersheriff David Hale said the woman was acting in self-defense after being choked, battered and threatened with death.

"We've been working closely with the prosecutor on this and everybody is in agreement that this appears, by all evidence to be a self-defense situation," Hale said on Thursday.

Its what he said in a clip thats not getting much attention that illustrates the danger in presuming OReilly to be 2A-informed and correct. Go to the 5:11 mark, and hear for yourself what he believes and advocates:

Now reasonable gun control, the laws about registration, and you cant have an AK and all that, reasonable people say Yes.

This is hardly a small point. It is, in fact, a showstopper for those who know the score. Perhaps those who live insulated lives within OReillys elite circle, and who dont even realize how provincial their enlightened perspective is, might agree with him. But everyone I consider reasonable would say Hell no to either proposal, followed by Your move.

The .22 WMR has often been discredited as a worthy self-defense cartridge. In fact, the .22 WMR exhibits ballistics comparable to those of a .380 ACP. And when it comes to concealed carry, the objective is concealment and reliability.

Enter the Smith & Wesson 351ca Centennial family pistol built on the J-framea seven-round-capacity, double-action only (DAO) revolver weighing in at 11 ozs. empty with an overall length of 6.25. Smith & Wesson appropriately labels the hammerless revolver "AirLite," and the gun serves well tucked into an ankle holster, pocket or purse.

Residents in Roseberg, Oregon, are rallying around the Second Amendment in the wake of the heinous attack on Umpqua Community College (UCC), suggesting the attack itself is proof of why citizens need to be armed for self-defense.

According to the Associated Press, Roseberg is a mill town surrounded by hunting and fishing opportunities, and one where many residents say they do not leave home without a handgun for self-defense. They do not carry because crime is high, but because crime is low and they want to keep it that way.

Vice President Joe Biden is using some dramatic rhetoric in reaction to the Oregon college shooting yesterday, claiming there are limitations to the Second Amendment.

The Second Amendment doesnt say you can own a bazooka, it doesnt say you can own an F-15 with Hellfire missiles, he said. It gives the ability of the government to limit type of weapon that is available.

Ed.: Funny, when I read the 2A, I can't find any delegation of authority to the government.

While conservatives are busying trying to shutdown any debate on gun control following the 45th school shooting this year by yelling about Chicagos murder rates apparently unaware that Chicago is the third largest city in the country but not even in the top five cities with the highest murder rate per capita and reflexively decrying any mention of gun control as a gun grab, what if we just entertained their wildest conspiracy theories for just a bit?

The presidents emotional plea for us to politicize mass shootings to curb Second Amendment rights was explicitly clear Thursday night. The president cited what he considers to be the facts that support his narrative on the issue of gun violence in America. Namely, that the American people, including gun owners, want stricter gun laws, that its easy to obtain firearms, and that the UK and Australia have passed laws that reduced mass shootings.

The Cowboy Capital of the World may be a reference to the Old West history of Oakdale, but so far as the shoot-em up Wild West, not so much, as measured by permits to carry concealed weapons (CCW) in the city of 20,000. Those with a permit can take loaded guns to the store, their workplace, and other public places as long as the firearm is not visible and is not prohibited by private property rules.

According to the Stanislaus County Sheriffs Department, of the 2717 issued concealed weapons permits countywide, only 386 are given to those with an Oakdale address. According to the analysis, permits are spread throughout the county, but certain cities Modesto and Turlock have a higher concentration of licensees.

A man was shot to death after he broke into a Folkston, Georgia, home Tuesday night and attacked two sisters who proved not to be such easy targets when they fought back.

The women, ages 64 and 75, called the police after the suspect, Jonathan Shellman Green, 40, unlawfully entered the home and assaulted them both, local media reports.

Shellman first approached the younger sister from behind and began choking her. The woman eventually managed to free herself from his grip and Green left the room, but returned a few minutes later. However, by the time he came back, the woman had grabbed a small-caliber handgun and fired three shots, striking Green all three times. At that point, Green ran out of the home through the front door.

Celinez Nunez, assistant special agent of the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said all the weapons had been purchased legally.

The Second Amendment Is a Gun-Control Amendment

In point of historical and constitutional fact, nothing could be further from the truth: the only amendment necessary for gun legislation, on the local or national level, is the Second Amendment itself, properly understood, as it was for two hundred years in its plain original sense. This sense can be summed up in a sentence: if the Founders hadnt wanted guns to be regulated, and thoroughly, they would not have put the phrase well regulated in the amendment. (A quick thought experiment: What if those words were not in the preamble to the amendment and a gun-sanity group wanted to insert them? Would the National Rifle Association be for or against this change? Its obvious, isnt it?)

They basically told me Im one step below a murderer in the eyes of the New Jersey court.

So says Mia Higginbotham, who once counted herself among the millions of legal, gun-owning Americans. That is, until the State of New Jersey turned her world upside down.

Higginbothams story starts the way many gun owners do: when she purchased a firearm for self-defense. But when it came time for her to transport her legal handgun from New Jersey to her new home in Florida well, thats when the problems started. One phone call later found Higginbotham in handcuffs in Newark Airport. Her alleged crime? Illegal possession of a handgun she legally owns, but a second-degree New Jersey felony nonetheless.

In May 2004, six years before he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, retired Army officer Allen West spoke before a Republican group in Boca Raton, Florida. He used the occasion, according to an account of his remarks in the Palm Beach Post, to tell the story of the 300 Spartans who fought to the death against an army of 10,000 Persians at the battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C.

What is your Thermopylae? he asked the crowd. Where will you take a stand?

The New York prosecutor who barred her employees from owning legal guns even at home has relented after a torrent of criticism that her policy was unconstitutional and could put her subordinates lives in danger.

Earlier this week, FoxNews.com reported that Nassau County Acting District Attorney Madeline Singas had implemented a policy that assistant district attorneys are not permitted to apply for a handgun permit nor own or possess a handgun while employed by the Nassau County District Attorney.

But after UCLA Law Professor Eugene Volokh first drew attention to the policy in a Washington Post blog, asserting that it violated both the Second Amendment and a New York state law, Singas issued a revised policy.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
...If a man lies under oath or procures the lie of another under oath, if he perjures himself or suborns perjury, he is guilty under the statute law. Under the higher law, under the great law of morality and righteousness, he is precisely as guilty if, instead of lying in a court, he lies in a newspaper or on the stump; and in all probability, the evil effects of his conduct are infinitely more widespread and more pernicious. Teddy Roosevelt - May 12, 1900
