In a pro se case brought by former Army Ranger Paul Murphy, the US District Court found that the ban on handgun carry, the $1000 handgun excise tax, the registration of individual firearms, the ban on "assault weapons", and the ban on center-fire rifles in calibers greater than .223 were unconstitutional. They did allow the Commonweath of the Northern Mariana Islands to require owner registration, to require safe storage, and to ban standard capacity magazines.

In an interview published today, Political Buzz spoke with activist Erin Palette at the 31st annual Gun Rights Policy Conference about her new project titled Operation Blazing Sword. The idea is to pair gun owners who want to help train members of the LGBTQ community to safely protect themselves if they so choose. It will at least give them an introduction to firearms that many most likely havent had before. They can then make the informed choice of protecting themselves or not.

Palette started the project after the horrifying Pulse terrorist attack in Orlando. So many gun owners were offering to train members of the LGBTQ community for free that Palette wanted to have a place where people could find the information.

The Second Amendment has been prostituted so far beyond any rational meaning that the result is stupid, ludicrous and very dangerous.

So, it should seem OK for possession of a firearm or one to defend a home.

But that should be true only if the owner has passed an approved mental exam and a safety class in the use of the firearm.

Any further expansion toward military arms should be prohibited.

The next president will probably have the chance to appoint a few Supreme Court justices. How would a new court affect gun issues?

There are quite a few [active] cases dealing with gun issues. If the Supreme Court was prepared to overturn the Heller case [which established that people had the right to own handguns], and declare there was no right to bear arms in the Constitution, they're gonna have plenty of opportunities to do that. My sense is that the justices are unlikely to overturn Heller. I think there's a considerable fear among the liberal justices that such a ruling would cause a backlash that would lead to possibly even a constitutional amendment providing even stronger protections.

A 3:30 a.m. phone call to rescue a Wilkes-Barre girl he doesnt know has upended John Cramseys life.

Arrested in June with a cache of weapons and ammunition near the Holland Tunnel in New Jersey, the 51-year-old gun range owner made international news and some branded him a terrorist. Front pages of New York City tabloid media mocked him as leader of the Kooks of Hazard for the so-called redneck rescue mission.

On Oct. 2, 1835, a small group of rebellious colonists in what is now South Texas defied Mexican rule with the memorable battle cry: "Come and take it!" The dare referred to a small brass cannon, but it became a declaration of Texas' independence and grit as famous as "Remember the Alamo." Today, you can see a twist of the historic slogan on the Come and Wash It Laundromat and Come and Style It beauty salon, both in the town of Gonzales.

An evenly divided Supreme Court opens a new term this week with a few dozen mostly low-profile cases. But perhaps the biggest question of the year won't even be settled by the justices.

Voters next month will effectively decide the court's ideological bent for the next four years and possibly much longer.

Not since 1968 has the court had a vacancy expected to be filled by the winner of a presidential election.

Its gonna be a paperwork nightmare for us, said Bob Burton, manager at Grizzly Gold and Silver. Its not going to be very practical in a business sense.

That's because people conducting private gun sales within the city would have to go to a Federal Firearm License (FFL) holder such as Grizzly Gold and Silver for the background check now required by the ordinance.

Such sales would require Burton to enter a gun in his records, and then complete the background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

If the buyer fails the background check, Burton is required to then check the seller before giving the gun back. If the seller fails, Burton is left with a gun he didn't buy and can't sell.

Christian schools in the United States used to be seen as safe spaces, where young minds learn their professions as well as God's Word with no threats facing their students whatsoever. However, this perception has changed, with some Christian universities opting to arm their campus security officers amid rising security concerns, prompting a debate about gun safety.

The Wheaton College in Chicago, Illinois is one of the Christian universities in the U.S. that are contemplating on allowing its campus guards to carry firearms. The university's spokesperson, LaTonya Taylor, said initial discussions have been started to this end.

There has been quite the debate lately over guns and gun control throughout the country. The Second Amendment sought to ensure that citizens of this great nation had the ability to defend themselves, and have the right to bear arms. Different interpretations of the law can lead a person down many paths, but regardless of the interpretation, guns are very much a part of the fabric of the nation and that has not changed much.

In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a suspect was hurt in a shooting on a Wednesday night, and police were still searching for him the next day.

It was about 8:45 p.m., when a man with a gun and a mask rushed into the convenience store. He pointed a cocked revolver at the clerk behind the counter. The clerk apparently wasnt inclined to put up with that behavior.

As a female shopper backed away from the counter, the clerk grabbed a loaded shotgun and fired off a shot. The would-be robber reacted by running back out of the front door.

For a variety of reasons, women in Weber County are starting to embrace their Second Amendment rights.

A couple of years ago, I got my Concealed Firearm Permit. But I keep my ammunition separate from my gun and dont have the confidence to put it together, Brenda Freeman told the group of 19 women gathered at the Weber County Sport Shooting Complex in mid-September for a beginner/refresher class on the use of handguns. This group here, weve hiked, skied, traveled, shopped, and have done a ton of things together, so Im excited to do this with you.

Were in a presidential election where one of the candidates is proud that the National Rifle Association and others opposes her efforts to change the meaning of the Second Amendment and impose the Australian model of gun control on the US.

American gun owners are, for the most part, allied against Hillarys attempts to move the right of self-defense from an individual right to a duty that belongs to the state. Were mobilized, and were spreading the word about what responsible gun ownership looks like.

As the presidential election heats up and violent crime rises nationally, pistol permit applications are at an all-time high in the Capital Region.

"I think there's a great fear that the country is leaning towards some sort of ban," said Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple. "People want to beat the government to the punch."

The numbers of permits processed in Columbia County rose 186 percent in just six months this year, Sheriff David Bartlett said.

MA: Town hall is no place for guns

In Easton, at least one selectman is questioning a proposed policy that would prevent volunteer board or committee members from bringing weapons into Town Hall, even if they have a permit to legally carry said weapon. Such a policy is already in place preventing paid staff members from packing inside the municipal center.

At first glance, this seems to be an absurd situation. Guns are not allowed in a wide variety of public and governmental settings, and a town hall would certainly seem to qualify. It would appear that having such a ban would be a totally reasonable and rational thing to do, and any responsible town official would want it in place.

While the NO HANDGUNS sign is cut off in this photograph, it clearly shows that the Crossroads Center, where the Islamic mass stabbing terror attack took place, was and is posted as a Gun Free Zone.

In Minnesota, the sign has no legal weight. Minnesota law prevents malls from banning guns from the common areas, but malls are not prevented from asking that visitors not carry guns. The sign reads please while shopping. That makes it a request, not a command.

Metallic barrel liner strengthens newly developed 3D printed gun Songbird

Fastforward to today and a new 3D printed gun called Songbird that has just been released that incorporates a metallic barrel liner to reinforce the otherwise fully 3D printed gun typical since the release of the Liberator (with the exception of course of Solid Concepts metal handgun).

For the Songbird pistol, it is the metal liner that sets it apart from the rest in that repeatability is supposedly achieved (disclaimer: who really knows). Tests firings using ABS plastic proved that it was indeed strong enough to fire .22 and .357 caliber bullets fairly reliably.
