"Tests began last week for a new weapon developed by the United States Air Force Research Laboratory - a microwave beam 'gun'. The weapon, which uses a dish to fire the microwave beams, heats the skin to a painful level, causing crowds to disperse, but critics of the weapon say that it is not safe."
"The new weapon was revealed to the public in March, but testing on human volunteers is only just complete. According to the US Air Force, they would like to use this 'Active Denial Technology' (ADT) for non-lethal, peacekeeping operations, particularly in the sphere of crowd and riot control." |

They have sponsored legislation that would prohibit the sale of weapons without the 'smart gun' technology once it becomes available.
