"For the first time in a decade, violent crime, including murder and rape, rose in the U.S., the Associated Press reported Oct. 28."
"According to the FBI, murders increased 2.5 percent from 2000 to 2001, while robberies rose 3.7 percent and forcible rapes increased by a little less than 2.5 percent." ...
"Firearms accounted for about two-thirds of the murders..."
REALITY CHECK...
In yesterday's Newslinks, we exposed the fact that their "about two thirds" was actually 54.5% -- much closer to "one half" than "two thirds" -- and just one day later, an anti-gun group's website is repeating the Associated Press' lie.

"As police continued their search Tuesday for suspects in a string of weekend robberies, alarmed residents in the North Baltimore neighborhoods where the crimes occurred were preparing for a meeting with their local police commander."
" 'We don't want to be seen as easy pickings,' Carter Michel Brigham, 36, said after dropping off her son at St. David's Church Day School on Roland Avenue. 'That perception has got to change.' "
