"To suggest the AG was still blissfully oblivious about the activities of his command at that time and under those circumstances, and remained that way until happening across mainstream news accounts some months later, strains all semblances of credibility, particularly when considered against the since-corroborated reports that had been compiled by free agents, with no official information resources at their disposal, compared to the unlimited network at his."

On Thursday, the conservative United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, in an opinion joined by two George W. Bush appointees, upheld a law banning federally licensed firearms dealers from selling guns to people under the age of 21. The plaintiffs in this case included the National Rifle Association.

...

It is possible that the NRA will attempt to appeal this decision to the full Fifth Circuit, which includes many of the most severely conservative judges in the country.

Every day, the primary news products offered in mainstream media consist mostly of lies and half-truths, mixed in with facts that fit nowhere.

This because they dont match the rhetoric which news has become. Actually finding out what takes place in our Nation requires long hours of careful scrutiny. Knowing what takes place in the world requires all that and an ouija board, given the corruption, which defines our government news sources.

NV: Outrageous, patently false claims against the President continue to undermined legitimate debate

These are among the more sensational charges that have been directed at the President since he began his run for the White House in 2008 and continue to be spread by opponents despite the fact that none of the claims are backed by substance.

...

Obama has never proposed any new legislation to control firearms, and congress would have to choose to send a gun bill to his desk if he did, something everyone knows is not going to happen.

This fact has not stopped a marked increase in gun sales across the country by people who have convinced each other the president is poised to pounce on the Second Amendment the instant re-election is solidified.

This law should put pressure on those who attempt straw purchases - the buying of guns by people who are entitled to have them and the subsequent sale of the weapons to criminals who are not.

The trouble for law enforcement has been that if police find that the guns were used in committing a crime, the sellers can use the excuse that the guns had been lost or stolen.

But HB 898 is not the much-discussed statute that would require gun owners to report lost or stolen guns to the authorities or risk being penalized. What this measure does instead is change existing law so that a mandatory five-year prison term for repeat straw-purchase offenders can be applied to multiple concurrent offenses.

Being able to defend yourself in your own home is a pretty basic right. The Castle Doctrine law allows people to protect themselves and their property without fear of prosecution, but one shooting in Montana is putting the states self-defense laws under a microscope.

This time, it all started over a woman. According to reports, Heather Fredenberg was cheating on her husband, Dan, with a man by the name of Brice Harper. On the day of the shooting, Heather went to spend the day with Harper. Dan suspected his wife was with Harper, so he drove to Harper's house to confront them. Dan spotted their car on the road and followed them to Harpers residence.

Sometimes its not about being particularly strong or skilled with self-defense techniques, its just about using the materials at hand to protect yourself. If youve got some hot soup around to fight off a would-be robber, well, that works a lot better than plenty of other foodstuffs. A Subway sandwich worker had to improvise when facing a masked man and managed to pull off a successful defense.

It took a hurricane to prevent it, but remarks originally scheduled to be delivered today at the United Nations by the Second Amendment Foundation still carry more clout than a storm, said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb.

SAF's Julianne Versnel was in New York Sunday when the oncoming hurricane caused the UN to shut down. But her message will resonate with armed citizens, and especially female gun owners, who understand that attempts to push global gun control and minimize the right of self-defense are a threat to liberty and human rights.

The prosecutor in the case of a former neighborhood watch leader accused of shooting an unarmed black teenager in central Florida called the conduct of the defense lawyer "a slippery slope" in pleading with the judge Friday to impose a gag order on all attorneys.

Assistant state attorney Bernie de la Rionda wants the order imposed because he believes George Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, has been using a website and both social and news media to influence potential jurors in the racially charged case.

LA: Louisiana Could Have 'Strongest Second Amendment Law in the Nation' If Gun Law Ballot Question Passes

When it comes to the Second Amendment, Louisiana legislators are bringing out the biggest legal guns they can find.

For Pelican State voters, Amendment II on the Nov. 6 Ballot asks voters if they want to change the phrasing of the Right to Bear Arms, as it is defined in Louisiana's State Constitution.

Proponents of the measure say it will make Louisiana's defense of the Second Amendment the best in the nation. However, opponents are concerned that the new strict scrutiny measures could make it more difficult to limit gun trade, transfer or impose restrictions on concealed weapons at various venues in the future.

A second installment of the joint report on Operation Fast and Furious asserting widespread management failures by senior Justice Department officials was released today despite a virtual government shutdown due to Hurricane Sandy.

That the report was released just over a week before the presidential election may have little bearing on the election outcome. The more recent scandal over Benghazi is being downplayed by everyone besides Fox News, adding even more credence to assertions that press bias in favor of the Obama administration is giving cover to the president.

A federal lawsuit describes an unsettling scenario: A guy stops and peruses the wares of a licensed firearms dealer at an Ohio gun show. He selects and pays for 87 weapons. A second person takes care of the paperwork, listing herself as the purchaser.

Does that setup, as alleged, raise questions about the legitimacy of the transaction? Should the dealer have asked the shopper whether he was using a "straw purchaser" to buy a lot of cheap Hi-Point 9mm semi-automatic pistols?

Not necessarily. It turns out that whether someone is a "straw purchaser" is very much in the eye of the beholder.

Barden Kellum, director of operations for OnCue Express, a chain of convenience stores and gas stations based in Stillwater, said that unless there are problems, his company will allow open carrying of firearms by customers.

I prefer people don't carry guns in the stores, but we're not going to start out that way, Kellum said. We're going to start out seeing where this goes, and hopefully we don't have an incident. If everybody's carrying guns maybe employees are safer, or maybe they're more at risk we just don't know yet. If somebody's going to rob you today, they're obviously not going to show it coming in, so if a guy's coming in, at least you know what you're dealing with because it's visual.

Jason McMichael, first national vice-president of the Customs and Immigration Union, said while guards uncover caches of weapons destined for organized crime from time to time, the vast majority of firearms seized at the border are legally owned by Americans who refuse to accept that their 2nd amendment right to bear arms doesnt apply in Canada.

In Capitol Area District Library v Michigan Open Carry, Inc, the Michigan Court of Appeals barred the Capitol Area District Library (the CADL) from enforcing its ban on openly carrying firearms into its libraries. The Court held that MCL 123.1102 completely occupies the field of firearm regulation and, therefore, CADLs policy was preempted.

Defendant Michigan Open Carry, Inc. works to protect and promote self-defense and gun ownership. On multiple occasions, several of its members openly carried guns into CADLs downtown Lansing branch. CADL adopted a policy against this practice and filed suit seeking declaratory relief establishing the validity of its policy.

The Second Amendment clearly states that citizens of the United States have the right to keep and bear arms for traditionally lawful purposes. But while the objective of the Second Amendment is noble, this right, as evident in the many cases of murder in both the countrys urban and rural areas, can become abused especially by reckless individuals (and even the mentally unstable).

The Council for a Better Louisiana (CABL) sides with Cannizzaro despite its support of gun rights because schools would be at a particular risk. Its that if this amendment passes, one could foresee a situation where a student or someone else charged with carrying a firearm on a college campus could challenge the constitutionality of the gun-free campus restriction, thus leaving it to the courts to decide under a new and much higher standard of scrutiny if our current law is too restrictive, the CABL argued in a statement.

Todays edition of USA Today asserts that the biggest issue politicians are not bringing up in this years campaign is gun control, while Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the National Rifle Association contends that gun rights is a politically toxic subject that is better left alone.

The issue of gun rights and self-defense is very much on the minds of Washington citizens, while it is staying pretty much in the background. Democrat Jay Inslee brought it up briefly during an Oct. 11 debate with Republican Rob McKenna, demonstrating his fallback on ignorant generalities that earned him an F rating from the NRA during his time in Congress.

Gun enthusiasts across the country stocked up on guns and ammunition before the 2008 election over concerns of President Obama's views on firearms.

Four years have come and gone with no major changes, so how are Wyomingites reacting leading up to this election?

While Wyoming is not a battleground state, it does love it's freedom to own firearms and some gun enthusiasts remain concerned leading up to the election.

"A lot of these people use these weapons for hobbies and hunting so yeah it is a huge concern," said Ryan Allen, Co-Owner of Frontier Arms.

More than a hundred guns were taken off the street Saturday as people anonymously turned over the firearms in exchange for Walmart gift cards, officials said.

Police collected 107 rifles, shotguns and handguns during a buyback program at eight Gary churches.

In August, police were able to buy back 129 guns from the community, Gary Police Chief Wade Ingram said.
