If the Florida Legislature eventually passes laws allowing guns onto college campuses, Rollins, as a private school, will not have to comply.

Last week, separate senate committees moved the campus carry bills forward. They still have more hurdles to jump in the House and Senate before they are made law, but this is a significant gain for the controversial bills.

Deputies say a gun left in the car could put you and law enforcement in danger.

If you interrupt the thief while he's stealing your handgun, you run the risk of being shot by your own gun, Robinson says, We run the risk of being shot by your handgun if we confront them after they've stolen it.

Jacob Clark, a firearms expert at Bucks & Jakes Outfitters says it's simply irresponsible leaving a gun in the car.

Ed.: Don't leave it in your car, but you can't take it with you.

A state appeals court Friday rejected arguments by a gun-rights group that sought to overturn a University of Florida ban on firearms in residence halls and other university housing, WJXT reports.

The group Florida Carry Inc. argued that people have a right to possess guns in their homes, including in university housing. But a three-judge panel of the 1st District Court of Appeal upheld an Alachua County circuit judge's ruling last year that sided with the Gainesville university.

Carson really doesnt like gun control. Offering a more elaborate version of his widely publicized remarks on CNN, he writes that German citizens were disarmed by their government in the late 1930s, and by the mid-1940s Hitlers regime had mercilessly slaughtered six million Jews and numerous others whom they considered inferior.

He thinks that the Second Amendment protects assault rifles and armor-penetrating ammunition, because the intent of the amendment is to protect peoples freedom from government, which means that they have a right to any type of weapon that they can legally obtain in order to protect themselves. Thats an extraordinary view, and Carson offers no historical evidence on its behalf.

Dixon High School junior Clinton Boyer was in need of a sweatshirt, so he asked his dad, Derrick, for an extra one.

Derrick Boyer, 43, gave his son a mustard-colored sweater that reads "I'll stop hunting when they pry the gun from my cold dead hands." The sweater has a picture of a rifle, along with other hunting equipment.

Boyer and his dad might have thought the sweater was OK, but it didn't sit well with school officials Monday.

Immediately after the shooting, Obama held a press conference at the White House.

The majority of Americans believe we should be changing these laws, Obama stated. There is a gun roughly for every man woman child in America. States with the strongest gun laws tend to have the least deaths.

President Obama went on to state that the United States needed to become more like our allies Australia and Great Britain.

Both Britain and Australia have virtually banned all firearms.

Someone reportedly threatened to burn down his gun store and to hurt his dog, too.

One of the angry callers who flooded his phone lines told him, Youre gonna get whats coming to you.

Were Jesus Christ alive today, not only would his presence mark the beginning of the end times, but he also probably wouldn't be a member of the National Rifle Association, according to an op-ed that ran on Reuters.com Friday.

"Evangelical Christians may well be the key to shifting America's broken political dynamic around gun rights," wrote filmmaker Abigail Disney in her op-ed titled, "Jesus wouldn't join the NRA."

Did you know the prohibition on switchblades causes a huge problem for law-abiding Wisconsin residents who, presumably, need to be able to stab someone at a moment's notice?

Well, fear not, Bucky. The state Assembly has voted to legalize the sale and carry of switchblade knives.

I had thought our legislators might have enough to do in legalizing political corruption, bankrupting our schools and destroying the state civil service system. But, apparently, that's so yesterday.

But in a society where mob justice and lynchings of suspected criminals is common, some worry that more availability of weapons will not bring peace.

A weapon is a great ally for someone on the attack, but the worst enemy of someone trying to defend himself, said Ivan Marques, director of the Instituto Sou da Paz, a think tank studying violence.

We need to disarm people, not arm them, said Jose Mariano Beltrame, the head of Rio de Janeiro states security department.

Well, that last remark certainly captures the bias within the sciences concerning firearms, but lets go through the figures because Im sure youre not the only ones thinking these are way off. John Cardillo, a Blaze contributor, noted that there were only 1,085 homicides in the under 18-age group, according to the FBIs figures on murder victims from 2014. There were also 8,124 total murders committed by firearms last year, which constituted a 3.9 percent reduction from 2013s figures.

Evangelical pastor Rob Schenck was a radical anti-abortion activist who hadn't put too much thought into gun rights. But rattled by a mass shooting at Washington's Navy Yard, something inside him shifted; he soon began to question gun culture from a moral standpoint and later preached about the human cost of gun violence instead.

His pivot drew the attention of filmmaker Abigail Disney, grandniece of legendary entertainment mogul Walt Disney. In her gripping directorial debut, The Armor of Light, Disney follows Schenck's self-exploration into the muddied world of gun control in America.

In her commentary, "Compete with the NRA? You'll need the right business plan" (Oct. 26), Sonia G. Pandit wrongly cites the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) as a "competitor" to the National Rifle Association.

The NSSF and the NRA are not competitors. We have different missions and members but are generally aligned on policy issues affecting both gun owners and the gun industry.

A van full of guns. More than two hundred revolvers and semi-automatic handguns, along with long rifles, shot guns and even AK-74.

Some were junk; others, if they were loaded, were just as deadly as the day they were made.

All of them unwanted.

And police say all had the potential to be stolen and wind up pointed at an innocent person.

Given the rash of armed robberies at Indianapolis eateries recently, including Papa Roux's last Saturday night, Bouvier issued a call via Facebook offering a 25 percent discount to any customers who show their license to carry a handgun. His purpose is to keep his employees and his patrons safe.

Time will tell whether Bouvier's tactic works, but those who might have evil intentions will likely think twice when considering the possibility of robbing the restaurant in the future. In the meantime, Papa Roux is getting a lot of local and even national attention regarding this offer.

The last gun from the last gun shop in San Francisco has been sold without a single bullet.

Elliott Isenberg, 70, wouldnt have known what to do with ammunition anyway. He was printing flyers at Copy Central on Mission Street last week when he noticed the signs in the windows of High Bridge Arms: Final sale! and Closing Oct. 31! He went inside for a look and left with a receipt for a Colt .45.

Thanks for supporting the last gun shop in San Francisco, the receipt read. The handgun cost $1,221.25. Isenberg, who lives in the Mission, had never even held a gun before, let alone owned one. But hes the last person to buy a firearm legally in San Francisco.

State law, however, still prohibits Texans from carrying around clubs, including blackjacks or nightsticks; several types of knives, including those with a blade longer than 5 inches; or brass knuckles, except at home or while walking to or from a vehicle.

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit against the City of Seattles gun violence tax will be in King County Superior Court Dec. 18 asking the judge for a summary judgment in the case, on the grounds that the tax violates Washington States 32-year-old preemption law, according to a report today from MyNorthwest.com and KIRO radio.

One of the plaintiffs, Sergey Solyanik, owner of Precise Shooter, posted a message on Facebook, and has also done a blog about the case. The lawsuit marks the first time that the Second Amendment Foundation, National Rifle Association and National Shooting Sports Foundation have teamed up in court.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The NRA has a point about the inadvisability of simply taking guns away from the populace. If that were possible, it would not disarm that small percentage of the population willing to break the law.... Punishing people who obey the law is backward thinking. Hugh Downs, Veteran ABC newsman
