Like so many sixgunners before him, and especially those from his generation, sixgunsmith Dick Casull had looked upon the Colt Single Action as the best vehicle not just for practical shooting but also for experimenting. During the 1950s, many old, used, but repairable Colt Single Actions were available for $50, a very reasonable price and a weeks pay for me in 1956. The economics of the situation combined with the passion for the old Colt led the young gunsmith to begin experimenting with the Single Action. These same things had been the driving factor for Elmer Keith two decades earlier when he used the Colt Single Action for his custom .44 Specials. |

Two-time electoral loser and persistent candidate Beto O'Rourke (D) has been a controversial political figure since he came on the Texas and national scene first, in his race against incumbent U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R) in 2018, and again in his failed attempt to win the Democrat nomination for president in 2019. It was during the latter contest that, he made the famous statement likely still remembered by most gun owners and Second Amendment proponents: Hell, yes, were going to take your AR-15.

A judge has blocked a gun ban enacted by executive order from Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney (D), one week after the liberal mayor signed the EO. Kenney last week attempted to outlaw firearms, even for legal gun owners, at city recreational facilities, despite state law barring such regulation. The order was quickly challenged by nonprofit gun group Guns Owners of America (GOA).

Imagine this. An automobile manufacturer adds a turbocharger to the engine of a passenger car as a way to increase the vehicles acceleration. Nanny State bureaucrats at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration decide that the turbocharger makes a vehicle to which it is attached go too fast, which renders it unsafe. The agency decides that the simplest way to address its concern is to include within the definition of an automobile a turbocharger, which the agency then can outlaw as an unsafe motor vehicle |

A few months ago, I published a video and article stating why I switched from a Glock 19 Gen 5 to an FN 509 Compact as my go-to handgun. A number of our readers commented that if I liked the FN, I should check out the HK VP9SK. One viewer, Armed Prophet, posted on our YouTube page, "You should really try the HK VP9SK. If you have the cash available I promise you wont leave the gun store without it. After you put the right combination of grip inserts on it and shoot it you will be in love. It is a bit pricey but well worth every penny." |

Most negligent discharges of a firearm happen during careless administrative handling. Often, a gun will be fired unintentionally while someone hands it to a friend to look at or while someone is cleaning a gun that they think is unloaded. However, every year there are multiple instances in which an individual will fire a round while carrying a gun, even when the gun is supposedly holstered. Reports of guns going off (guns dont just go off, they get fired) in public restrooms, movie theaters, restaurants, etc. involve unsafe carry practices or unsafe manipulation of a gun that should not be touched. |

It was under the talent of Chris Dichterowner of Oregon-based PAC-NOR Barrelingthat John Noveske learned the art of rifling and the care it takes to make it capable of delivering precision. After a stint in the U.S. Army, Noveske returned home and put that knowledge to work. It was 2001 when Noveske Rifleworks officially opened in Grants Pass, Ore., where it remains to this day.

Formerly just a product of SIG's German Master Shop, the XFIVE is now made in America a decade after disappearing from the company's catalog altogether. While P226s have been around since the 1970s, the hyper-accurate XFIVE was hard to get on this side of the Atlantic. Essentially a match-quality single-action-only 226 longslide with a 5-inch barrel, the original was a Teutonic range beast, tipping the scales at almost 50 ounces due to the fact it was all stainless steel except for the grips. |
