No, I don't think Christ is a pacifist and he doesn't belong to any political party. Jesus Christ is God and God commanded the Hebrews to conquer their enemies.
Also, Jesus told his disciples to buy swords in Luke 22:36 (presumably for self-defense). The Ten Commandments don't forbid all killing, only murder.
Pacifists misinterpret and misunderstand the teachings of Jesus. I agree with St. Augustine, who said "Peace should be the object of your desire, war should be waged only as a necessity." |

If Al Gore and/or John Kerry had been elected in 2000 and 2004, respectively, you no longer would have the right to possess firearms.
In the case of District of Columbia v. Heller, just five of the nine justices voted to uphold the original meaning of the Second Amendment; the other dissenting, liberal justices would have overturned those rights. Because George Bush was elected in 2000 and again in 2004, he was able to appoint two of the strict constructionist justices who voted to uphold the amendment's original meaning. Mr. Gore or Mr. Kerry certainly would have appointed liberal justices, making the outcome of this case entirely different. |

Just another example of Andrew Rice doing and saying anything to win, says Kivett.
In just two short years, Andrew Rice has experienced a remarkable change of heart when it comes to the Second Amendment. Hes gone from a proven enemy of gun owners rights as described by the Oklahoma Rifle Association and indifferent, if not outright hostile toward gun owners and sportsmens rights as described by the National Rifle Association, to a gun-toting supporter of the Second Amendment. Now, in his campaign for the United States Senate, it seems Rice has completely reversed his position in the hopes that nobody would notice! |

"The most telling and troubling moment of a recent daylong state Senate hearing on Georgia gun laws came when state Sen. Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) insisted that the right to possess firearms is absolute and any restriction on gun ownership is unconstitutional."
"In other words, it would be unconstitutional to ban possession of rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns and M-1 tanks."
"Does that mean that if the evolution of firearms eventually led to nuclear-tipped guns, the government would still have no right to act, Levy asked. Would Rogers continue to insist that government has no role if guns grew deadly enough to target-shoot the entire town of Woodstock off the face of the earth?"

The founding fathers bestowed many unalienable rights. They are most commonly known as part of the "Bill of Rights." One of these unalienable rights is the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution -- the right to bare[sic] arms. The right to bare[sic] arms means the right to own a weapon, which is generally assumed to be firearms. A gun can be a tool of death and destruction in the hands of the wrong person, and a lifesaver in the hands of the right person. While the line between the wrong and right is often gray, we can still agree that many people who own firearms have no need for them. |

Each year, the Georgia Child Fatality Review Panel publishes a report detailing the circumstances of death for children in Georgia. Their findings for 2005:
Medical - 68.9% Motor Vehicle - 8.9% SIDS - 7.3% Homicide - 2.9% Other Injury - 2.4% Drowning - 2.2% Unknown - 1.7% Asphyxia - 1.7% Suicide - 1.4% Fire - 0.8% Poison - 0.8% Unknown Intent - 0.5% Other SIDS - 0.4% Firearm - 0.2%
--- Submitter's note: While every child death is a tragedy, the evidence once again points out that a bathtub, plastic shopping bag, or a bottle of bleach in the home is more of a danger to a child than a firearm. |

Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Andrew Rice has received an A- rating from the National Rifle Association. Rice received this rating from the National Rifle Association because he believes gun ownership is a constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights. I appreciate this solid rating from the National Rifle Association, Rice said. Oklahomans cherish our outdoor heritage and our right to own and bear arms. As a State Senator, a candidate for the U.S. Senate and a member of the National Rifle Association, I have not and will not vote to restrict the Constitutional right of American citizens to own and use firearms. |

James and Lori Neigel of Fergus Falls were recently honored by the National Rifle Association at their Annual Trophy Show held in conjunction with the Minnesota Weapons Collectors Trophy Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Neigels were awarded by the NRA with a trophy for Outstanding Exhibit Award Contemporary Arms for displaying their collection of .22 caliber smoothbore shotguns (for .22 caliber bird shot). This is a coveted and prestigious national award, not unlike a local sports team winning a national championship. These unique and rare guns were used back in the 40s, 50s and 60s for indoor trap and skeet shooting. |

Since I have not written on guns recently, I felt it was time to give an update on matters.
First, for all this talk of sweeping challenges to gun laws post District of Columbia v. Heller, there has been a paucity of decisions most of which have rejected challenges to various gun laws. There are two reasons for this I believe: (i) as to State laws, most people live in states with Right to Keep and Bear Arms clauses so state laws which are the primary laws involved have been vetted; and (ii) in Heller Justice Scalia preempted almost all legal challenges to congressionally enacted laws |

GeorgiaCarry.Org filed a federal lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia against the Sheriff of Richmond County and a Richmond County deputy who detained a GCO member and seized his legally-carried pistol. After checking it to see whether it was stolen, the deputy confiscated the firearm until proof of purchase could be provided, and the Sheriffs Department then refused to return it. The deputy insisted that it is against the law to carry a pistol openly, which is grossly incorrect.
GCO's Board of Directors is concerned over the increasing number of reports it is receiving of Georgia police officers harassing people merely for legally carrying a holstered pistol. |

"Most people do not realize that leaving a firearm in the glove box of a car at a public gathering violates Georgias public gathering law. The parking lot of an auto auction, a Fourth of July barbecue, a gathering of bored teenagers in a parking lot, and interstate rest stops are all public gatherings. So is a gun show. The restrooms and other buildings in state parks are not public gatherings, but the restrooms in a city park are, even though the city park itself is not. There are many places that nobody can determine, such as movie theaters, fairs, hospitals, prayer meetings in private homes, concerts, flea markets and political party meetings." |

Police are investigating whether a fatal hit-and-run was a case of self defense.
Knoxville Police report the hit-and-run killed 17-year-old Marcus Carmichael of Knoxville broke Antonio Dean's leg. Dean's age was not immediately available.
Police said 25-year-old John McCarthy was the driver in that collision and actually reported the incident to police.
Capt. Gary Holliday said McCarthy reported he was sleeping in his car in a parking lot on Central Avenue Pike around 1:30 Sunday morning when two men approached the car and tried to sell him marijuana. |

Prosecutors conceded there was some disagreement about whether the incident involved self defense and recommended probation for Freeman. |

Ben Smith points us to a new spot from the Obama campaign, "Life," that was not sent out to the press. It features a lifetime National Rifle Association member who supports the Democratic nominee. The spot has been seen in Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. "I'm a life member of the NRA," Greg West says in the spot. "I hunt, I fish, I love the outdoors. I love this country, and I support Barack Obama." An announcer then seeks to reassure skeptics. "Barack Obama supports gun rights," he says. "Our right to defend ourselves. The second amendment. That's the truth." |

President Ted [Nugent] would also decree that the second amendment is a national concealed weapons permit for all non-felon Americans. He would limit gun-free zones and announce globally that anyone who is armed and who invades America through unauthorized ports of entry would be shot on sight.
Additionally, President Ted would institute a national castle doctrine encouraging all American citizens to shoot to neutralize any and all unauthorized invaders of their homes and places of business, and then he would give presidential medals of freedom to those who do. OK, Nuge, where do I sign up? |

A 17-year-old who was shot dead Friday night in a west-end park had been carrying a Taser stun gun, police said today.
Detectives discovered the electro-shock weapon at the scene and believe that it belonged to Boris Cikovic, who died early Saturday from a bullet to the abdomen.
Police are searching for three suspects, all described as black males, who may have had legitimate reason to protect themselves, Homicide Det. Srgt. Steve Ryan said.
"If what I'm being told is accurate, they may have (been acting) in self- defense," he said. "The three suspects are in the best position. They should call us." |

I attended the 2008 GRPC in Phoenix. Second Amendment Foundation President Joe Tartaro tapped me on the shoulder to join a panel...
I have been writing for years that the Second Amendment isnt about guns, it is in part - about carrying our own burdens, and the first burden is that no one else is responsible for your personal safety, only you are. Further, the armed citizen serves an even greater role in continually impeaching the need for boondoggle policies sold as necessary when the armed citizen is more than adequate to discredit these. In this, I have said that the 80 million or so gun owners are not nuts about guns, but nuts about liberty. I refer to them often affectionately as the Liberty Nuts, not gun nuts. |

Walter Lysinger, who spent about a dozen years in the U.S. Army and a half-dozen as president of the Bellwood Sportsmen's Club, believes 'active gun people' are polite and well-mannered.
'I don't know anybody who would pull a gun on me if they were mad at me,' he said. 'I've been around guns, and I'm a firm believer in teaching young people about guns.'
Some of those in Pennsylvania on various sides of how heavily to regulate gun ownership and use don't disagree on Americans' constitutional right to own and use them. |
