Today, the U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) announced that its organization has reached over half a million members and counting, keeping pace with record-breaking firearm-related sales over the last nine months across the nation. This surge in membership demonstrates that as Americans embrace their Second Amendment rights, firearms education and training remains a top priority. After experiencing an all-time record month of membership sales in June, with momentum continuing in the succeeding months, the USCCA also reported a 620 percent increase in online training and education courses through the first nine months of 2020 compared to all of 2019.

The defense filing, submitted ahead of a Friday hearing in the Circuit Court of Lake County, Illinois, argues against Rittenhouses transfer to Wisconsin to face charges including first-degree intentional homicide. The filing alleges technical flaws with the extradition paperwork and alleges that the transfer in the high-profile case would turn him over to the mob and violate the teens constitutional rights.

A 17-year-old accused of killing two protesters days after Jacob Blake was shot by police in Kenosha, Wis., is due back in court Friday as his attorneys fight efforts to send him to Wisconsin to stand trial on homicide charges.

No immediate decision is expected during Kyle Rittenhouses scheduled hearing in Lake County, Ill. At Mr. Rittenhouses last court hearing in late September, Judge Paul Novak gave his attorneys two weeks to prepare filings and said he would then schedule a hearing on the issue.

Some Americans worried about possible violence after the U.S. presidential election are forming community watch groups, others are working on conflict de-escalation and still others are purchasing guns, according to two dozen voters, online groups and data surveyed by Reuters.

A common fear is that the Nov. 3 contest between President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden remains undecided, leading to protests that could escalate into civil unrest, or even sectarian conflict.

Indictments filed against Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple charged with felonies after waving guns at protesters in June, show that an additional charge of evidence tampering was added this week because prosecutors say the couple altered the gun Patricia McCloskey was holding that day.

The McCloskeys' lawyer claimed the gun was inoperable when she wielded it outside the couple's Central West End mansion that day, because it had been used as a prop in an earlier lawsuit against a gun manufacturer.

In Standoff: Race, Policing, and a Deadly Assault That Gripped a Nation, Thompson, a journalist, chronicles the events surrounding Johnsons killing of the five officers. In her ticktock, scene-driven account, she presents a cavalcade of characters and carefully constructed episodes, but too often she seems to be writing for the big screen rather than for readers.

In June, when the Supreme Court decided that it wasnt going to take up any firearm-related cases in its next term, gun control groups were surprised and relieved. The nations highest court had nearly a dozen of gun cases up for potential consideration and a ruling on any one of them could have had a significant impact on the gun safety laws passed in numerous states since District of Columbia v. Heller 12 years ago, which overturned DCs longtime ban on gun ownership and affirmed that the Second Amendment protects an individuals right to own a firearm for the purpose of self-defense.

Gun sales in Virginia this year have skyrocketed, breaking a record set in 2016 in just nine months.

Data from the Virginia Firearms Transaction Center, which has tracked mandatory background checks on buyers since 1990, shows estimated firearm sales have spiked in 2020, a year rocked by the global pandemic and protests across the country.

In the last several years, I have thoroughly tested plenty of accessories and modifications designed to increase the performance of carry pistols. There are a litany of aftermarket upgrades you can make to a carry gun, but only a few actually enhance the capability (and lethality) or your firearm. If youre looking to become more accurate, or simply want more from your sidearm, here are some of the best post production modification to consider.

September 2020 NICS and Gun Sales Continue Record Trend

September of 2020 was a record for both firearm sales and NICS background checks in the United States. There were 2,892,115 background checks done in September, and about 1.614 million firearm sales. The firearm sales is not a precise figure because of uncertainties about multiple firearms sold with one NICS check and firearms sold to people who can legally purchase firearms without an instant NICS check.

The firearms figure is calculated by the number of NICS checks done for handguns + long guns + other guns + 2.5 X the number of checks where multiple guns were sold on one check. It is a good approximation.

President Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court says she shares the outlook of her mentor, the late Justice Antonin Scalia. But on the issue of the Second Amendment, Amy Coney Barrett seems to have staked out an even more conservative position.

That's got gun control advocates warning that big changes could be on the way if Barrett gets confirmed.

In 2008, the Supreme Court ruled people have a right to keep handguns at home to defend themselves. Since that time, the high court has mostly avoided taking on new gun cases, refusing to hear 10 such lawsuits in June alone.

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has selected and begun fielding 9 mm Glock 19 Gen5 MOS pistols after a thorough review of testing results. The move replaces an aging fleet of .40 S&W-chambered SIG Sauer P229 DAK sidearms that have been in service since 2006.

Glock is honored to support the requirements of the USCG and provide a weapon solution that delivers on unmatched performance and value in any environment, said Glock vice president Josh Dorsey. The comprehensive testing and evaluation process conducted by CBP demonstrated the Glock pistols lasting reliability that instills confidence in those who use it to go into harms way.

Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett would be a stalwart supporter of the Second Amendment if confirmed to the court, according to a gun-rights group.

The legislative counsel for the Gun Owners of America, one of the countrys largest pro-gun advocacy organizations, said Barrett appears to be a strict constitutionalist. He also pointed to a dissenting opinion the judge wrote in 2019 in which she wrote in favor of a non-violent felon seeking to restore his firearms rights.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said that suspects in a plot to kidnap and possibly kill Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer also participated in a Second Amendment protest at the state Capitol in the spring.

At least six men were allegedly involved in the conspiracy against the governor, according to the FBI, which helped thwart the plot in conjunction with Michigan law enforcement. The individuals allegedly planned to abduct Whitmer over frustration with her stringent executive orders on the coronavirus outbreak, take her to a "secure location" in Wisconsin and then hold a "trial" for treason.
