Rep. Ron Paul confirms rumors circulating in Washington that this sweeping new law, with serious implications for each and every American, was not made available to members of Congress for review before the vote.

And why would that be? "This is a very bad bill," explains Paul ... efforts to obtain copies of the new law were stonewalled even by the committee that wrote it. |

Last week, prosecutors cited the rarely invoked law in the case of a student being detained in New York, and hinted they might make fuller use of it in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks.
With roots in laws that date back more than 200 years, the statute gives the government great flexibility in assembling prosecutions against people who plan but don't carry out criminal acts against the United States. |

"Remove all government funding from the CDC (and the University of Nevada School of Medicine, while we're at it); if these political "doctors" choose to militate for repeal of the Second Amendment, make them raise their own funds and register as a political lobby. If they whine that they "do other good works," the answer is that if they valued nonpartisan public funding for those ventures they should have stuck to medicine, and let our freedoms alone." --Vin Suprynowicz |

"Our average student probably is as interested in knowing and understanding the laws regarding when and how they can carry firearms as anything else. Close behind handling and marksmanship, they realize the firearms use they see in movies or on television is not even close to reality.
"It is really satisfying from my standpoint to see people taking responsibility for themselves and their guns, realizing they are dealing with a deadly weapon." |

Every year during dove hunting season, Bogey's Golf Course is inundated with the sound of shot gun fire, loud enough to disturb the game of the most focused golfer.
New restrictions to the city's hunting ordinance being considered by the Waco City Council should take care of problems such as those at Bogey's Golf Course, which seem to pop up more frequently as the city increases in population, said Sgt. Jan Price, an officer with the Waco Police Department who proposed the changes.... |

The USA Patriot Act, now passed and the law of the land, has eliminated the Constitutional guarantee of probable cause when investigating a crime, and now allows the police at any time and for any reason to enter and search your house, your files, your bank account and not even tell you about it. As a result of this, America is longer America, but a police state, pure and simple. |

A proposed ordinance that would ban weapon possession inside Ottawa County buildings is moving nowhere fast as officials await the state attorney general's opinion regarding its legality.
The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners Criminal Justice Committee discussed the ordinance, introduced in June, again Monday, but took no action in moving the ban forward. However, Commissioner Jane Ruiter of Spring Lake encouraged fellow commissioners to push the proposal. |
