Civilian men, women and teens are learning how to fight off intruders like a Navy SEAL at a training facility in Escondido.
This is not your average shooting range. It's Escondido's old police department, and it has been taken over by the Warfighter Academy.
The instructors, all retired Marines and Navy SEALs, are training men, women and children as young as 13 real-world gunfighting often associated with the military or law enforcement. |

There are times when a gun shouldnt fire. In the hands of a toddler, say, or really in the hands of anyone except its legal owner, or those entrusted by the owner. Guns are so easy to operate that even a toddler can accidentally fire one and injure or kill someone, as happened at least 43 times already in 2015. Veri-Fires Guardian fingerprint-reading gun safety accessory wants to change that, by keeping the gun locked for everyone but the guns owner. Heres what the Guardian looks like in action: |

Florida Atlantic University students and friends, Bethany Bowra and Thomas Valero, have some things in common, but not their positions on guns on campus.
"People have some assumption that this bill is just going to hand guns to students as they walk on to campus just for the sake of self-defense and that is not what it is. This bill would just allow students who already have their concealed carry permit outside of campus to be able to carry it on campus," Bowra said. |

An informal group of open-carry activists plans a racially integrated armed march here Monday to demonstrate that Second Amendment rights are for everybody, its leader says.
Sam Andrews, of Eureka, who owns a gun shop, announced in August that he planned to hold the event in Ferguson. Andrews said several black residents had told him theyd probably be shot if they tried to carry weapons openly in public.
We intend to show that this right is not just for white people, said Andrews, who is white. He formerly was a local spokesman for Oath Keepers, whose members have appeared before in Ferguson with their rifles. |

Missourians won't need a permit to carry concealed weapons if Catherine Hanaway has her way, the Republican candidate for governor said Thursday during a campaign stop in Springfield.
"We need to do more to protect the gun rights of law-abiding citizens and do more to punish those who would use guns to commit violent acts," said Hanaway, the attorney and former Missouri House Speaker, during a quick tour of the Cherokee Firearms on National Avenue.
Missourians can currently carry concealed weapons if they have a permit. Local sheriff departments issue the permits. They can also openly carry a gun without a permit, unless barred by local ordinances. |

And then the government agent will say, "Where do you come from?" And the wonderful person will name some impoverished Mexican village, and then he will wave goodbye to his house, his wonderful wife, his fantastic job, and his excellent kids, and walk quietly into the black van.
And government agents will potentially do this 11 million times in a nation with a Second Amendment.
"I love the Second Amendment," Trump has said proudly in the past.
This could be interesting. |

Gun prohibitionists complain that gun owners will not engage in a serious discussion about guns. Whats to discuss, when gun control proponents repeatedly push measures that they ultimately acknowledge albeit begrudgingly will not prevent the crimes they point to as excuses for their efforts? It is widely known that background checks didnt stop either Fort Hood shooters, or the Aurora movie theater killer, or the Seattle Jewish Federation and Caf Racer killers, or the Washington Navy Yard gunman, ad infinitum. |

A United Kingdom citizen who is a legal permanent resident of the United States alleges in a lawsuit that the Honolulu Police Department discriminates against non-U.S. citizens by making it difficult for them to obtain firearm permits.
...
Hawaii only granted permits to U.S. citizens until a federal judge in Honolulu last year ruled thats unconstitutional. The department is trying to get around that ruling by verbally requiring those with green cards to obtain additional clearance from their countries of citizenship, said the lawsuit filed last week in federal court in Honolulu. |

Congressmen in Brazil, one of the most violent countries in the world, are proposing to dramatically loosen restrictions on personal gun ownership, bringing the country much closer to the American right to bear arms.
The politicians say the measures are necessary to allow embattled citizens the right to defend themselves from criminals armed with illegal weapons. But opponents say the move will only increase the countrys toll of nearly 60,000 murders in 2014. |

Victor Lopez, the founder of Sierra Element Tactical Firearms Training is no stranger to the dangers posed by evil governments around the world, as a USMC Sniper and LAPD cop. Being a combat veteran, he knows that when seconds count, the police are usually minutes away. Several recent stories in the New York Times suggest that the paper believes gun rights are a matter of opinion, while abortion rights are beyond question.
When the Times writes about "gun rights," it often qualifies the phrase by saying the idea is the position of gun lobbying groups, leaving to interpretation whether those groups are correct. By contrast, the paper tosses around the term "abortion rights" as it would human rights, handling it as a concept that is uncontested despite its status as a hotly-debated issue with "pro-choice" and "pro-life" groups facing off. |

A group made up of professors, and a few others, rallied behind their common goal of a gun-free UT on Monday at the University of Texas at Austin. This pushback against a state campus carry law passed last session has been building for months. The new law is set to take effect next year.
The protesters' message was loud and clear: ban guns or we could sue. Law professor Ken Williams from South Texas College of Law in Houston says their main claim will center around how universities will ensure a safe environment for both students and faculty. |

Most Tennesseans believe its more important to protect the right to own guns than to control gun ownership, according to a new survey.
But while those surveyed said they value Second Amendment rights, they also think stricter rules on sales are in order to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill, according to the poll from Middle Tennessee State University.
The poll also showed support for conducting criminal background checks at gun shows or in private person-to-person sales.
Two other measures banning assault-style weapons and setting up a federal database to track all gun sales drew considerably less support, especially among gun rights supporters. |

Some of the people and organizations who donated money to the family of a now-disgraced Illinois police officer want their cash back after investigators revealed last week that the cop embezzled thousands of dollars from his department before staging his suicide to look like a murder.
I think that our community feels duped and betrayed, said Ashley Lambert, who organized a charity event in honor of the officer.
A tally of the more-publicized fundraisers held for the family of Lt. Joe Gliniewicz indicates a minimum of $201,000 was raised.
Submitters note: Plus the various state and local governments spent well over a million dollars on the investigation. |

DOVER -- Federal authorities say a Secret Service agent from Maryland sent obscene images and texts to someone he thought was a young Delaware girl, sometimes doing it while on duty at the White House.
Unbeknownst to agent Lee Robert Moore, the person he thought was a 14-year-old girl was actually an undercover Delaware police officer. Moore now faces state and federal charges.
According to the complaint, Moore often engaged in online chats while on duty, once asking the girl to send him something "exciting" on a day when he was checking IDs for building entrance.
