What Is a Truck Gun: The Mini-Cooper

The term truck gun has evolved from a lever-action .30-30 in a rear window rack, to a host of specialized firearms designed to deal with everything from predators on the prairie to bad guys who dont have your best interests at heart. Unless you make your living getting into gunfights or shooting coyotes on a ranch, your truck gun should be more suited to general-purpose tasks as opposed to specialized ones. A truck gun for a hunter should be appropriate for the geographic area they live in, while also being at least moderately suitable for self-defense.

A three-judge panel of the Seventh Circuit heard arguments Friday morning over whether two Wisconsin public school students wearing shirts with gun imagery in class are protected by free speech rights.

The questions before the panel included both whether these specific students' shirts were protected, and whether gun imagery on students' clothes should be considered protected speech in general.

Tuesdays chamber vote was 29-21, with majority support from Republicans. One democrat, Sen. Jim Brewster, voted in favor of the bill, and Republican Sen. Robert Tomlinson opposed.

On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee vote on the bill was 13-10 in favor.

If they can do it here and they can do it in other localities, your fundamental right to keep and bear arms is burdened by this tax, Eldridge said. If they tax a gun at $25 constitutionally, why not $250? Why not $2,500?

Eldridge said theyve filed for the supreme court to reconsider the constitutional questions and for the tax to not be collected.

We believe that were likely to succeed on constitutionality issues and therefore its appropriate for the court to order the county not to collect the tax while this is pending, Eldridge said.

Its pretty rare, David Hemenway, director of the Harvard Injury Control Research Center, said, despite the fact that gun violence in the U.S. is exceptionally common. There are more guns in the country than people, and nearly 40,000 Americans died because of gun violence in 2019. A majority of those deaths were suicides. From 2007 to 2011, only about 1 percent of people who were crime victims claimed to have used a gun to protect themselves and the average person had basically no chance in their lifetime ever to use a gun in self-defense, Dr. Hemenway told NPR in 2018.

NY: New Yorks current gun law violates the Second Amendment

In order to receive a license to carry a firearm in public for self-defense, applicants must prove that they have a proper cause.

The standard itself is vaguely defined and allows the state to reject license applications at its discretion. Most states have shall issue systems, which remove all arbitrary bias and discretion, while New York has a may issue system.

Imposing so many restrictions to obtain a license shows that the constitutional right to keep and bear arms for self-defense, as correctly affirmed in McDonald v. Chicago and District of Columbia v. Heller, is more burdened and disfavored in New York than most other civil rights. New Yorks law is far too prohibitory.

As the Kyle Rittenhouse trial carries on in Wisconsin, a viral Twitter thread has exposed how the disinformation peddled by corporate media doesnt just distort reality, but recreates it in the service of leftwing political objectives.

Sarah Beth Burwick is a writer who runs the Substack page Why The Left Is Losing Me, which chronicles her journey as a lifelong liberal turned politically homeless. She recently remarked that it was only today that I learned the Kyle Rittenhouse victims were white, continuing to say that My progressive bubble made this seem like a very different case than it is.

Former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard defended Kyle Rittenhouse and slammed the political left during an interview on Thursday evening over their reaction to the judge in the case.

We remember very clearly that immediately after this incident, this tragedy occurred with Kyle Rittenhouse, the mainstream media, pro-Antifa politicians were very quick to say this kid is a white supremacist terrorist, Gabbard told Lawrence Jones III on Fox News Primetime.

I always find it curious to see the lengths that gun control states are willing to go to limit the full reach of the Second Amendment, and how uninformed many state and federal officials are concerning the purpose of the Second Amendment: To allow citizens the ability to protect themselves from the government, and to allow citizens the opportunity to protect themselves when the government fails to protect them.

Misch, through his attorney in a filing last week, argued that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prevented the state from restricting ammunition magazine size.

Though the State has argued that the statute defeats constitutional concerns because it can point to a compelling interest in reducing the likelihood and harm of a mass shooting in Vermont, that filing stated, the State cannot impose a total ban of protected conduct under the United States Constitution just because such conduct might lead to harm.

Sometimes the trees get in the way of seeing the forest. In the case of Kyle Rittenhouse, a narrow view of the law of self-defense could provide an acquittal despite the big picture his outrageously poor judgment in bringing a semi-automatic rifle to a protest.

But the evidence is the evidence, and I dont expect the legal instructions to significantly change the outcome.

In the moments before he pulled the trigger, its pretty clear Rittenhouse had valid reasons to fear for his safety first from a mentally unhinged man chasing him with full knowledge that he was carrying an AR-15 rifle and later from what he perceived as a mob violently attacking him to avenge the first shooting.

The mobs motives such as stopping an active shooter who was running away to bring him to justice might offer a justification for their actions.

But it doesnt nullify Rittenhouses own perception of events and the actions he took to defend himself.

It was one of the more unusual assignments Ive had in my nearly four decades of journalism.

With the problem of ghost guns proliferating not just around California but the country, my editors wanted me to see how easy it is to get your hands on a firearm that has no serial number and cant be traced.

They picked a good month for me to to build a ghost gun.

Glocktober is FINALLY here! proclaimed the email in my inbox from an outfit called JSD Supply on Oct. 1.

Toobin replied by lamenting the fact that he has recently seen more people openly carrying guns:

One of the big changes in state laws over the last two decades are the increasing freedom that is being granted to individuals to carry concealed weapons, to carry publicly you know, visible, visible weapons. I mean, it is such a sea change in, in how the, how the law works. And, you know, I was just in Oklahoma the other day, in Arizona. You just see people carrying guns in public that you didn't used to see.

He went on to suggest again that Rittenhouse was appointing himself as law enforcement, despite all the evidence in court thus far pointing to him acting solely in self-defense.

The Senate voted to reinforce Pennsylvanians Constitutional right to bear arms while continuing to safely protect our communities by preventing municipalities from bypassing state law prohibiting them from regulating firearms and ensuring those legally allowed to own a gun can carry it openly or concealed, without needing a permit, according to Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) who supported the effort.

Most Americans spend a good part of their week in a car, either as the driver or the passenger. Since the rise of the suburbs in the 1950s, the daily commute has become part of our collective national life. While cars represent the American ideals of freedom, mobility, and individualism, they also require us to think about some additional questions of safety and self-defense.

The judge in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse said on Friday he would instruct the jury they can consider the prosecution's argument that the teenager provoked an encounter with one of two men he fatally shot during protests in Wisconsin last year.

The ruling is a boost for prosecutors because it opens the door for them to argue that Rittenhouse was the aggressor, which would raise the bar for the teenager's effort to convince the jury that he acted in self-defense.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. Noah Webster in "An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution," 1787, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at p. 56 (New York, 1888).
