Crime victims who call Australia's PAL (Police
Assistance Line) are routinely played a recording
and put on hold, sometimes for over three hours.
Victims who attempt to report crimes through
their local police stations are told they must call
PAL instead, even when informed that PAL is
not responsive.
I guess it's a good thing they still have their
guns for self-defense... Oh... Never mind. |

"The latest death came Monday, when Oscar Ray Nichols Jr., 40, of Buffalo, was shot in the chest with his own weapon while hunting deer in Dallas County."
"Nichols was lowering his gun to the ground from a tree stand when the rope he was using slipped from his hands. The gun hit the ground and fired, Dallas County authorities said."
