Following the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old boy in the North York area of greater Toronto, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a press conference there will be new gun control legislation soon.

But Toronto Sun columnist Brian Lilley essentially cracked the code over the weekend when he wrote, the Trudeau government insists they are dealing with gun crime. Of course their idea of dealing with gun crimes is to seize guns, not deal with criminals, and the only guns they know how to seize are the ones owned by legal gun owners.

The view was instantly brighter, details sharper. In hand, it was lighter than any binocular Id yet carried afield. And it was less expensive! A field test came to mind But, to use a product well certainly to test it intelligently you must know something about it. So began my slow journey down the path to optical literacy.

For those who love big bore revolvers, the .454 Casull (pronounced like KA-sool) is often a favorite. Longer than the .45 Long Colt and much more powerful, this ammunition spent more than half of its life as a popular wildcat, not becoming a standard, factory round until itd been in the handloader arena for over 40 years.

AK: Given a rifle and a chance to be responsible, kids may learn a lot more than just shooting

The Winchester didnt come gift-wrapped, as I had imagined it would. A year older than me, my brother had been given his first .22 on Christmas the year before. I waited a year to advance in levels of responsibility granted to my brother. Since he received a .22 rifle the year before, it seemed Christmas is when I would receive one.

I dont know why it was presented early but on a September afternoon when I got home from school, Dad handed the rifle to me. The bolt action .22 was full-sized. I had been learning on his rifles and it was a bit big for me, but in those days you just grew into guns that would serve for a lifetime.

A report from the NRA-ILA suggests the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is already working with former Vice President Joe Biden to go after AR-15 pistol braces.

On October 7, 2020, Breitbart News reported that the ATF reclassified a small sliver of AR-15 pistols with stabilizer braces as Short Barrel Rifles (SBRs), thereby placing them under the purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA).

While votes still are being counted in the presidential election, one thing is perfectly clearthe stakes never have been higher for the Second Amendment. Neither Democratic nominee Joe Biden nor his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris of California, believe that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. In other words, according to them, the government may restrict law-abiding citizens ability to possess any firearm, and for any reason.

The first gift I bought my wife after we began dating was a Ruger MK II .22-caliber pistol. So, Im a romantic fool, what can I say? Or maybe, I wanted her to have the means to protect herself as I shared my love of shooting with her. While some may scoff at the idea of the lowly .22 as a defensive tool, it has a lot going for it. Let me share 10 reasons why you should consider the .22 for personal or home defense.

A Range Safety Officer working a match in New York recently was the victim of a negligent discharge. The 67-year-old was a long term member of the indoor club hosting the competition. He was struck once and died at the scene. Both the range and the media labeled it an accident and, of course, by that, they meant that it was not intentional, and there is no doubt about that. However, we all know that this was the result of someone negligently handling their firearm. The four universal safety rules are not hard to follow, but this is a good reminder that we can never let ourselves get careless with them.

Empowered by its landmark 2010 Supreme Court victory in McDonald v. City of Chicago, which nullified the Windy Citys handgun ban and incorporated the Second Amendment to the states via the 14th Amendment, the Second Amendment Foundationa scrappy gun rights group based in Washington Statehas become a legal powerhouse that is now targeting at least three states for their alleged arbitrary, prohibitive concealed carry laws.

Although voters in Novembers election had a refreshing break from initiatives to impose new gun-control laws, there was a pro-gun ballot measure this fall in Big Sky Country. LR 130, a ballot measure to limit local government authority to regulate firearms, was supported by the NRA and approved by Montanas voters. Voters had to contend with a barrage of misinformation along with the typical outsized spending by Michael Bloombergs Everytown for Gun Safety to defeat the measure.

Springfield Armory this week expanded its popular Ronin series of 1911s with a Government-sized 10mm Auto option that retails for about $850. As with the rest of the Ronin line, which has only been added to SA's catalog in the past year, the newest variant is a two-toned pistol consisting of a stainless steel forged frame married to a forged carbon steel slide that has been salt blued. While the gun evokes memories of custom M1911 rigs of the 1980s, SA says it blends old school looks with modern manufacturing to produce something different from the rest of the pack.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. C. S. LEWIS
