"But the truth is that there arent 'good' and 'bad' gun owners theres just gun owners. And they dont 'defend' or 'attack' they shoot. They kill. Thats why guns are such a problem in this country, because people are taught by the NRA to believe that some guns can do 'good' work, that they can defend families and households. But they dont. They destroy families. They crush households, and then end lives over and over again, every day of every week."

"Despite massive publicity by the anti-gun campaign prior to Brazil's nationwide vote in late October, voters, while obviously depressed by the frighteningly high murder rates, determined that with police corruption and ineptitude accounting for much of the firearms crime rate, it would be foolhardy to strip law-abiding citizens of the ability to defend themselves. ..."

"IT'S amazing how Mary Shaw (op-ed, Nov. 11) has the gall to show such hypocrisy."

"In one line she indicates she supports abortion rights, but in the very next, she favors gun control, not to mention restricting religion and other things."

"You could argue that, unlike a gun, which might kill, abortion always does kill. Many times more children are killed each year by abortion than by all guns, knives, cars, fists, etc."

"And it would be interesting to see Shaw explain how she can support gun control (supposedly to reduce violence) while at the same time supporting abortion, the ultimate form of violence, a form of execution."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
What is ominous is the ease with which some people go from saying that they don't like something to saying that the government should forbid it. When you go down that road, don't expect freedom to survive very long. Thomas Sowell
