"That much of the public hero-worships armed government employees (or at least the pretenders who play them), and ones with licenses to kill at that, is a phenomenon worth noting, as is using such entertainment as a springboard to prime that public to be receptive to new laws. And its not like the Bond actors havent been a willing part of using their media influence to do just that, including Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Craig himself, who, when introduced as the new 007 told OK! Magazine 'I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other.'

The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence had their first meeting in Champaign as they try to organize a grassroot group of gullible, but well-meaning citizens to advocate against their own civil rights.

Guns Save Life had publicized the event, at our meeting, via email and on the website. We encouraged our members to help make sure ICHV had a good turn out.

When I and my significant other arrived, the librarys security guard greeted us and told us that we couldnt go in. On the door was a sign saying the room was at maximum capacity and nobody else was being allowed to enter.

Looking through the glass wall, I counted about 20 people in the room, participating in one form or another.

Common sense would dictate that after the Philadephia police department paid out $25,000 last year in a pre-trial settlement for violating a gun owners civil rights, that members of the department would have gotten the proverbial memo not to do such silliness.

Apparently a few of them follow the lead of their rabidly anti-gun police chief Charles Ramsey.

Philadelphia (Daily News) - A new YouTube video shows two Philly cops antagonizing a man last week who was legally carrying a .40-caliber Glock on his hip as he headed to a Manayunk barbershop.

One officer wrongly tells Joshua Rodriguez, 22, that his ammunition is illegal. Another officer later tells the barber that Rodriguez has a gun.

Nardizzi, for being so well-paid, utterly fumbled.

He tried to spin his way out of the mess but only managed to spin himself in deeper, offering all sorts of weak excuses why WWP couldnt partner with gun-related sponsors. He cited sponsorships with cyclists and how WWP had cut back on those sponsorships because of some sort of inferior return on investment.

Gresham pressed Nardizzi, saying that WWP had even changed language on their website from firearms to the more incendiary word weapon.

Nardizzi offered every excuse imaginable, but in the end Gresham pinned him down as saying that while gun owners are absolutely welcome to send money to WWP, they could not use the logo.

AZ: Gun Store Owner Cope Reynolds Will not Sell to Obama Voters

When asked how he will identify voters for Obama, Reynolds told the Phoenix News-Times: Obviously, this is nothing more than a political statement. Of course, it would be impossible to enforce. If they dont say anything, well never know. They could purchase whatever they wanted, and they would probably get a big kick out of thinking that they are rubbing it in our face as they walk out the door. Some folks are easily amused that way.

"I think we should, and I think that's where it starts," U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, a Democrat from Colorado, replied over the summer on CBS's "Face the Nation" when asked about reinstating the assault weapons ban following the movie theater massacre in Aurora.

Some local gun shops expect to see a surge in sales that began in 2008 to continue - and probably spike - during President Barack Obama's second term.

But this year, it's not just any item that is catching the eye of those exercising their right to bear arms.

Some local dealers say civilian assault weapon sales are on the rise.

In 2008, Obama campaigned in favor of reinstating the Clinton-era assault weapons ban, which expired in 2004.

I'm nonplussed by the letter writer who seems to think that President Obama and Hillary Clinton (who is, as secretary of State, far removed from domestic issues) are intent on stripping the American public of Second Amendment rights "to protect and defend ourselves"

Federal officers operating an Arizona checkpoint with state help ostensibly to reduce shell casings and other litter at popular shooting spots went too far by searching vehicles, a clear violation of Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure.

...

Of course, this checkpoint raises Second Amendment concerns, too and the way it was run fuels suspicions about the Obama administrations intentions regarding private firearms ownership.

In Massachusetts, state law prohibits the carrying of firearms on the grounds of any college without special permission. Like most of the gun laws in Massachusetts, this law exists because people allowed their emotions and feelings dictate what to impose on the masses. Let us take a step back and look at what this law and concurrent University policy actually does, and whether or not it makes sense to unilaterally ban the carry of firearms by all persons other than police officers on campus property.

An incident in Kings County, Wash., which began as a 911 call reporting a man waving a gun at motorists, ended with sheriff's deputies firing at the suspect and tackling him to the ground. But when they kicked the "weapon" to the side, they discovered that the gun was made of black Lego blocks and the man was developmentally disabled with a fascination with guns.

The shootings in an Aurora, Colo., theater and the Sikh temple in Milwaukee, Wis., make it likely that there will be calls in the 112th Congress to reconsider a 1994 ban on semiautomatic assault weapons and large capacity ammunition feeding devices, a November 14, 2012 Congressional Research Service report on Gun Control Legislation obtained this morning by Gun Rights Examiner reveals.

One of the common grounds is that there are plenty of gun control laws that have been on the books for a long time, and the Supreme Court's decisions did not invalidate them. In fact, they specifically said in the majority opinion in [a] 2008 case [that] reasonable gun control measures are, of course, constitutionally permissible;

Ed.: No, they said they were presumptively constitutional, because those laws were not before the court. The court was simply *trying* to be clear that they weren't making any judgments about those laws in Heller.

America is still, after all, wealthy and powerful. But when that ceases to be, who can say how far we will fall and what agendas future leaders will pursue in preying upon what desperation may at that time exist? Therefore, the third suggestion Americans may want to consider is arming themselves to the teeth. Our Constitution guarantees us the right to keep and bear arms. Exercise that right liberally. And, as an addendum to this suggestion goes the further recommendation to stock up on food and other necessities.

But what would this UN treaty entail? I believe U.S. Representative Paul Broun, R-Ga., is immensely correct when he expressed the following concerns in a June 2010 open letter:

If passed by the UN and ratied by the U.S. Senate, the UNs Small Arms Treaty would almost certainly force national governments to: Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding citizens cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally; confiscate and destroy all unauthorized civilian firearms; ban the trade, sale and private ownership of all semi-automatic weapons; create an international gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation ...

It had the makings of a great editorial cartoon -- except it actually happened.

"I was going to bring a handgun tonight to use as a prop," said George Smith, the former longtime executive director of the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine, to his rapt audience Thursday evening at Portland's Italian Heritage Center.

Not just any audience, mind you. Smith, still one of Maine's most prominent sportsmen, was speaking to none other than membership of Maine Citizens Against Handgun Violence.

(Think oil and water -- or maybe a spark in the powder keg.)

"I'd encourage parents to make sure that if they do have firearms in the house, they teach their kids not to touch them and to be able to say, there's a gun here and to tell an adult rather than play with it. And sometimes removing the curiosity helps there too, but that's an individual decision," Officer Hanson said.

Officer Hanson said that if you own a gun and keep it in your home, you should demonstrate to your child how it works. He suggests in a safe area, shooting a water bottle or pumpkin or any other object that displays the impact of a bullet.
