New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo may be facing something of an embarrassment, thanks to a federal judges ruling that a lawsuit filed by the National Rifle Association asserting that the governor, according to the Wall Street Journal, stifled the organizations free speech rights, may move forward.

It may be the ultimate political irony; an anti-gun public official in trouble for violating the First Amendment rights of a Second Amendment group. Cuomo ran into trouble earlier in the fall for wisecracking that he thought America was never that great in a smack at President Donald Trumps campaign slogan.

After Joe Biggs tweeted that Mr. Swalwell wants a war over the Second Amendment, Mr. Swalwell responded, And it would be a short war my friend.

A judge in Washington State wants us to lock up our guns. That sounds like it could be a good idea, but facts matter when it comes to self-defense. Most of these untested gun-safety ideas actually make things worse rather than better.

The goal is to save lives, and that isnt easy to do.

Lawmakers in the Ohio House began a lame-duck session by approving so-called "stand your ground" gun legislation that eliminates a requirement to retreat in confrontations before using deadly force. The GOP-controlled House voted 64-26 Wednesday in favor of the bill, House Bill 228, a supermajority large enough to override Republican Gov. John Kasich's expected veto. Backers say the bill puts Ohio in line with about 35 other states. The legislation goes next to the Senate.

If I told you that a liberal billionaire couple was spending a small fortune to try to muzzle the National Rifle Association and erode Second Amendment rights, you might logically guess that they were from Hollywood or New York City. But you would be wrong. The elitist couple is Laura and John Arnold. They are based in Houston. And they are coming for your guns.

The usual anguished questions followed the mass shooting late Nov. 7 at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Twelve people, including a sheriffs sergeant, were fatally shot by a young man with a Glock .45-caliber handgun, who then turned the gun on himself. But there was a fresh question in the aftermath of this slaughter: Would the midterm election results the day before lead to changes in U.S. gun laws, or would the National Rifle Association once again stand in the way of commonsense reform?

The Florida Influencers said the measures Gov. Rick Scott signed into law after the Parkland shooting were an important first step, but that lawmakers work to protect schools and students is far from complete. Nearly 80 percent said that while they supported recent gun law changes -- a higher minimum age to purchase some firearms, a ban on bump stocks and new mental health regulations -- state officials need to do more to fully address the problem of gun violence.

Launched at SHOT Show 2017, Blackhawks Omnivore Multi-Fit Holster emerged as the solution for a problem plaguing generations of handgun owners: the overflowing holster drawer/box. This ubiquitous feature of handgun ownership stemmed from the fact that most holsters are designed to fit a single handgun model. Right off the bat, owners are looking at a different holster for each handgun model they own, not to mention multiple options for each handgun. Want a paddle attachment instead of belt loop? Nother holster in the drawer!

Daylight in the swamp! my dad announced. The clock said 3 a.m., but I did not need any urging to get out of bed. I had been awake most of the night; 12 years old and eager to go deer hunting for the first time. My hunting clothes were all hand-me-downs: rubber boots two sizes too big; a tattered red hunting coat, long ago faded to dull pink; an orange hat with furry earflaps that snapped under the chin; a pair of brown jersey gloves that welcomed the icy wind.

Amid a wave of proposed gun control legislation in the Illinois state capitol earlier this year, more than 25 counties passed resolutions opposing what some saw as an effort to curtail their Second Amendment rights. Since the first wave of resolutions passed this summer, the total number of county boards that passed resolutions has reached at least 39 of Illinois' 102 counties, with other counties taking similar measures.

Back in May, House Democrat Eric Swalwell of California authored an op-ed for USA Today that argues for federal confiscation, and an Australian-style "buyback," of "assault weapons" in America (which, even when accounting for murders by weapons "misclassified" as assault weapons, are used in fewer than 1% of homicides). This would include weapons like the wildly popular AR-15, which millions of Americans own.

Gun-control groups outspent the National Rifle Association in the midterm election cycle, federal filings and additional reporting indicate, upending the usual order in the partisan battle over gun use. Two groups that focus on gun control, Giffords and Everytown for Gun Safety, spent at least $37 million at the state and federal levels in the midterms, compared with at least $20 million by the NRA. The figures are incomplete because some of the spending done by such groups is not required to be disclosed, but all sides agreed that the NRA was outspent, stemming a trend of financial dominance by the group.

Several years ago the City of Palm Springs passed an ordinance that required any person in the city who lost or had a firearm stolen from them to report the loss to police within 48 hours. Current California state laws impose the same reporting requirement, except that state law provides a person 120 hours (5 days) to report a firearm lost or stolen once a person knows or should have known that it is missing. (Cal. Penal Code 25250).

One of the few truths in life that you can always count on and believe is that elections have consequences. Furthermore, when one party acquires total control of any government, it can literally do anything it might want to the electorate (the people it controls) without fear of any veto.

Wichita Deputy Police Chief Jose Salcido told the Wichita Eagle that the city has seen a spike in firearms thefts from about 400 in 2012 to 1,600 last year. More than 325 of the guns stolen last year "showed up at violent crime scenes in Wichita," Salcido said.

There are many things about America that we can admire: their spectacular cities, their exciting entertainment industry, and their incredible natural attractions. One aspect of the American culture that most of us dont understand, however, is their obsession with guns. So why is there a faction within Australia that is trying to relax our gun laws, so theyre more in line with the U.S.?

Last week, I mentioned the problems I had finding a hard copy of the 2019-2020 Alaska Drawing Permit Hunt Supplement. This week, I went to pick up the current trapping regulations booklet and had the same problem. Both items are on the ADF&G website, but if you want a hard copy, either go directly to the Palmer Fish and Game office or to Chimo Guns in Wasilla. They have a good supply of all the hunting, sportsfishing, waterfowl, trapping, and drawing permit brochures as well as the 2019-2020 Alaska Subsistence Permit Hunt Supplement.

These days, polymer-frame, 9 mm Luger, semi-automatic pistols are garnering all the headlines and filling the holsters of defense-minded armed citizens. But for those seeking a comparably compact all-metal pistol with excellent ergonomics, upgraded features and a proven service record with armed professionals, look no further than SIGs P229 Legion. With a 3.9 barrel and 15-round capacity, the P229 is right in line with other popular concealed carry guns, but its custom-like fit, enhanced sights and trigger, and double-action/single-action operation definitely set this pistol apart. This week, Lock, Stock & Barrel is headed to the range with the SIG P229 Legion.
