Meanwhile, recent actions by the National Rifle Association fuel accusations that it has become less of an advocate for Second Amendment rights and more like another corrupt Washington establishment lobbying group primarily concerned with political access and clout. In addition to endorsing fourteen of anti-gun Nancy Pelosi's twenty "endangered Democrats," the NRA considered supporting Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who received an "F" rating from Gun Owners of America. Pressure from NRA members squelched a Reid endorsement but failed to bring about endorsement of Reid's opposition, 100%-pro-gun-rated Sharron Angle. |

The "no weapons" policy at the city's recreation center may be legal.
The policy, along with a similar West Park Hospital rule, was contested by Cody resident Serge Joskow who argues the policy is unconstitutional because only the state is allowed to regulate firearms.
Wyoming Attorney General Bruce Salzburg told the city council by letter, "Municipalities are excepted from this rule for the limited purpose of regulating conduct which disturbs or jeopardizes the public health, safety, peace or morality in any public or private place.'" |

Democrat Jack Conway touted his support for gun rights and coal on Thursday, while Republican Rand Paul said Kentucky can signal that President Barack Obama is leading the country "down the wrong path" as the U.S. Senate candidates vied for conservative support Thursday.
Conway complained that special-interest money from Republican allies have distorted his record in TV ads, but said he'll get his message across to conservative Democrats that he's a "different kind of Democrat." |

After 9/11, the fear of another attack on U.S. soil cleanly supplanted the fear of having one`s penis chopped off by a vengeful lover in the pantheon of irrational American fears.
... How do the odds of dying in a terrorist attack stack up against the odds of dying in other unfortunate situations?
Submitter's note: The article doesn't define "terrorist" but if you're reading this page, you might be one by the feds definition. Too bad the good cops get a black eye from this one. |

"In the 18 years that he has been a police officer in Bangor, James Dearing couldn't think of a single time when someone has asked him to turn over his firearm."
"Until last Friday."
"Dearing, who was patrolling his assigned beat near the Bangor Civic Center, decided to stop in and cast an early vote. He walked into the polling place in full uniform and stood in a short line with other voters."
"One of the election officials told Dearing he couldn't bring his gun inside. The officer said he thought it was a joke."
"Election warden Wayne Mallar then approached Dearing and reiterated the request: Turn over your weapon to another officer or we can't let you vote." |

. . . John Pierce, co-founder of OpenCarry.org, along with Gun Owners of California's Sam Pareda aim to borrow a page from ATR's playbook. These groups have released a poster spotlighting the 2010 voting records of the
"18 California State Senators [who] voted for all three of the worst anti-gun rights bills introduced in the California Legislature: AB 1934 (open carry ban), AB 1810 (long gun registration), & AB 2358 (ammo registration) the bills failed . . . this time."
