Last nights monstercast was another home-run. Joining me in hour one for segment two I invited Captain Matt Bruce, host of the overnight hit syndicated talk radio program, The Captains America-Third Watch. Of course, Matt is based in Tampa and broadcasts his program from my hometown station, Salems AM 860 The Answer in Tampa, Florida. In case youve missed it, Tampa is experiencing a serial killer on the loose in the Seminole Heights neighborhood and Matt gave us a chilling update. |

Responsible gun owners defended themselves every day, but you didn't hear about it in the news. Instructor Ben Branam joins host Rob Morse to talk about three new examples.
-It is early in the morning, and a man walks into your barbershop. You turn to put something away, then the customer rushes you and stabs you. You push him away, but he tries to stab you again. -You own a self-service car wash. When you drive up this morning, you notice that someone has broken into your office. -You and your brother own and operate a small general store. Three young men enter your store and one of them is carrying a gun.
What would you do in these situations? Text and podcast available at the link. (17 minutes)

I grew up in Wyoming where gun ownership is common and part of the culture. Guns are respected, and so is the damage they can do. So responsibility around guns is also part of the culture and taken very seriously. Here in Missouri, I believe that it is responsible gun ownership, not guns, that is under attack. Increasingly, Ive become alarmed by the rise of radical groups from both inside and outside the state advocating reckless laws that needlessly put us all in danger. They open new, dangerous loopholes instead of closing them.

The ads leap out from the pages of almost any gun magazine: Soldiers wearing greasepaint and camouflage wield military-style rifles depicted as essential to the American way of life. A promotional spot by the Mossberg brand boasts of weapons "engineered to the specs of freedom and independence." The ad campaigns by major gun makers continue unabated after mass shootings at a Las Vegas country music concert and a Texas church, and the slick messages are big drivers of sales ahead of Black Friday, by far the heaviest shopping day each year for firearms.

The number of rounds fired in citizen-involved self-defense encounters is hard to gauge. I have searched high and low for answers, but even the FBI doesnt keep that sort of data. Studies, including that conducted by Kleck and Gertz in their 1995 book Armed Resistance to Crime point out that more than 92 percent of all self-defense uses of firearms dont involve firing the gun. |

Seattle Times columnist Jerry Large is asking whether a violent uprising is on the horizon to fix the socio-economic inequality now experienced in the Jet City and elsewhere, while political reporter Jim Brunner gently wonders whether the Democrat establishment has a double standard about sexual misconduct scandals now in the headlines.
Liberals plotting a revolution have a problem because its the conservatives who seem to be better armed. The citys gun violence tax has simply sent gun owners outside the city to buy firearms and ammunition. The far left members of the city council evidently didnt think that one through. |

Doug Jones, the Democrat running for Alabamas U.S. Senate seat, says he loves to hunt but the Second Amendment has limitations. He believes that every right enumerated in the Bill of Rights is limited, and the Second Amendment is no exception. According to the Alabama Political Reporter, Jones described himself as a Second Amendment guy, but stressed that some gun control is necessary. He said, Weve got limitations on all constitutional amendments in one form or another. This position is contrary to the clear language of the amendment, which states that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

The XD-E holds seven-plus-one rounds in .45 ACP (left) and nine-plus-one in 9 mm Luger (right). When it comes to high-quality, self-loading, personal-defense handguns, todays American consumer is truly experiencing an embarrassment of riches. Numerous brands, calibers, sizes and styles are available from a variety of manufacturers. For the most part, though, each one represents an irrevocable commitment on the part of the buyer at the point of sale to one specific type of operating system with perhaps two modes. |

Lost or stolen guns often times go unreported. If used in a crime, this makes tracing their origin or catching criminals connected to the weapon more difficult and sometimes impossible for law enforcement. NBC 7 Investigates and more than a dozen NBC stations across the country teamed with the nonprofit journalism organization The Trace to comb through more than 800,000 stolen or missing gun records. |

On Monday, more than 550,000 hunters are expected to head afield for the first day of Pennsylvanias most popular hunting season the white-tailed deer firearms season. This years two-week season runs Nov. 27-Dec. 9, with sportsmen allowed to harvest one buck, as well as an antlerless deer for each antlerless permit they hold. In 2016-17 hunters took 149,460 antlered deer and 183,794 antlerless deer, and this year conditions look favorable for another strong season. |

The right of the people to keep and bear arms has been recognized by the General Government; but the best security of that right after all is, the military spirit, that taste for martial exercises, which has always distinguished the free citizens of these States....Such men form the best barrier to the liberties of America Gazette of the United States, October 14, 1789. |
