Gun rights groups scored a major victory in Maryland going into this holiday weekend after a federal court ruled the state's handgun licensing requirement is unconstitutional, but the ruling does not immediately clear the way to buy a pistol without a license in the state.
The licensing measure will remain in effect for at least 21 days after the ruling, or potentially much longer should Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown decide to appeal, according to Mark Pennak of Maryland Shall Issue, the gun rights group behind the challenge to the licensing law. |

On Saturday's Fox & Friends Weekend, the show gave coverage to how atrocious California's gun rights situation is as the Fox weekend anchors spoke with a Los Angeles resident whose concealed carry permit was revoked after he used his firearm to fight off two armed home invaders who are still at large.
As dramatic video of the attack and shootout was shown on screen, co-host Will Cain recalled: "Caught on camera, a Los Angeles resident seen defending his home and family from would-be robbers earlier this month." |

A California appeals court has overturned a San Diego Superior Court ruling that prohibited the state from sharing the personal information of registered gun and ammunition owners for research purposes, as mandated by law.
The ruling Friday by the 4th District Court of Appeal is a win for the Firearm Violence Research Center based at UC Davis and others studying patterns of gun violence.
"The court's decision is an important victory for science. It reaffirms the value of objective evidence in understanding and intervening on important health problems, firearm violence among them," said Dr. Garen Wintemute, a professor in emergency medicine and director of the Center. |

The gun industry in Virginia helps inculcate an attitude that makes many Americans feel they are entitled to guns at all times without any of the civic responsibility that comes with the Second Amendment concept of a well regulated militia. The federal government as we know is equally cowardly with gun laws but attempted to seek justice for a school shooting by charging Deja Taylor, the boys mother, with an obscure federal statue prohibiting marijuana use and firearm possession. |

Below, Josh argues that "an opinion reversing Rahimi will be tougher to write than most critics will admit" and also claims that "Rahimi was a faithful application of Bruen. Efforts to "clarify" Bruen are really an attempt to rewrite the precedent. I don't think anyone seriously doubts this premise."
With respect, I think that both of these claims are wrong, for reasons that Professor Robert Leider and I gave in our essay, The General Law Right to Bear Arms. An opinion that faithfully applies Bruen and reverses the Fifth Circuit in Rahimi is not hard to write. It has two major steps. |

An Oregon county judge Tuesday issued a permanent injunction against a voter-backed law that regulates the purchase of gun permits and magazine capacity, finding it violates the state's constitution.
The ruling from the Harney County Circuit Court arrives almost a year after county residents Joseph Arnold and Cliff Asmussen joined the Virginia-based Gun Owners of America and Gun Owners Foundation in suing Oregon officials to prevent the enforcement of Measure 114. |

A recent gun violence report found that at least 49% of the people involved in Salem homicides and shootings are associated with certain groups or gangs, despite local law enforcement projecting that less than 0.01% of the population is gang-affiliated.
The Salem Police Department shared the Salem Violence Problem Analysis earlier this month. The report covers homicides and non-fatal shootings from January 2018 to June of this year, not including justified self-defense, self-inflicted gunshots, and officer-involved shootings.

More Americans than ever agree with the Supreme Court that the Constitution protects their right to carry a gun outside the home for self-protection.
Thats the conclusion of the latest poll from Marquette Law School. The university reported last Tuesday that 67 percent of adults approve of the Courts 2022 decision in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, which struck down the states subjective gun-carry permitting scheme for violating the Second Amendment. Thats up three points from the same poll earlier this year and one done the year before. Similarly, disapproval dropped three points. |

...a federal judge in Colorado, hearing a lawsuit over the states three-day waiting period to purchase a gun, recently determined that the Second Amendment does not protect the right to purchase a firearm. With the Bruen ruling setting a new standard for deciding Second Amendment disputes, the case Rocky Mountain Gun Owners v. Polis seemed like a sure win for the plaintiffs. After all, the Second Amendments plain text does cover an individuals conduct of owning a firearm, which logically necessitates a purchase. And theres nothing in the nations historical tradition of firearms regulation indicating a three-day waiting period existed anytime around the founding era. |

While violent crime in the United States decreased overall in 2022, returning to pre-pandemic levels, more people are exercising their Second Amendment rights.
A new NBC News national poll conducted last month finds that more than half of American voters say they or someone in their household owns a gun.
A whopping 52% of poll respondents said they or someone in their home owns a gun the highest rate since 1999, when NBC News started polling on that specific topic. |

Since the primary, Ive spent a lot of time in the more urban areas because it became clear in the primary vote tally that the rural counties came out really strongly for me, and southern Utah came out really strongly for me. So Ive done a lot of work in Salt Lake and Davis counties since then trying to make sure they know who I am and know that I care about their issues and that Im willing to work hard for them, Maloy said.
In addition to pushing for Utah to have more control over public lands in the state, her campaign site highlights border security, religious freedom, curbing government spending, preserving Second Amendment rights, opposing abortion and supporting Hill Air Force Base as major issues. |

The weapons of war designed solely and exclusively for mass killings in the shortest possible time are not the muzzle-loading flint locks referred to in the Second Amendment.
Through-out the history of this country, local and state governments have been found well within their rights under the Constitution to protect the health and well-being of their citizens by enacting common-sense measures concerning firearms to accomplish just that, with no obstacle imposed by the Second Amendment to doing so.
You are the first, and, hopefully, you will be the last generation of Georgia state legislators who choose to place the interests of gun manufacturers above your duty to protect your own constituents. |

This quote isnt about Chicago, Houston or Detroit. This quote is from Vermonts own VTDigger and is about the city of Burlington. While the vast majority of Vermonters are appalled at the rise of lawlessness in once peaceful places, this is the type of world gunmakers, arms dealers, the NRA and irresponsible gun owners want us to live in.
Does anyone doubt that we need to rewrite (or get rid of?) the Second Amendment to the Constitution? When will this country come to its senses? |

In the oft-taken-for-granted world of American freedoms, where the eagle screams and the buffalo roam, theres a strange and powerful beast known as the Second Amendment. Its a symbol of everything chaotic and beautiful about this great nation gone partially mad a testament to the wild American spirit that refuses to be tamed.
Picture this: a land vast and rugged, where the sun scorches the earth, and the wind howls like a pack of wolves on the hunt. This is the birthplace of the Second Amendment, forged in the furnace of rebellion and the tireless fight against tyranny. Its more than just a right; its a rite of passage, a baptism by fire in the Church of Freedom. |
