The "basement dealers" "don't expect a great deal of public sympathy", but point out they are selling a legal product in conformity with existing federal law... |

As a Republican presidential candidate, Elizabeth Dole took notably moderate stands on gun control. She supported a ban on assault weapons and a three-day wait for purchases at gun shows. She criticized state laws letting people carry concealed weapons.
Now that she's running for the Senate in North Carolina, Dole has "changed her stance on all those issues."

The FBI...
...is urging phone companies to change their networks for more reliable wiretaps;
...told companies that it will need access to voice calls sent over data networks within a few hours...that interference caused by a wiretap should be imperceptible;
...added that its research is "always mindful of constitutional, privacy and commercial equities" and that its use of new technology "can be challenged in court and in Congress." |

"At first, it was my intent to keep the material up to date with late-breaking events; but then it occurred to me that it might have more value in its original form than if it were continually updated. Writing about news events after they happen is not difficult, but writing about them before they happen is another matter. So, I decided to let the overview stand exactly as conceptualized on Friday, September 14, 2001. This is that report." G. Edward Griffin |

Polish archaeologists excavating the Nazi death camp in Sobibor found mass graves at the site, evacuated in October 1943 after a prisoner uprising. According to Polish accounts (so far), 250,000 people were killed in Sobibor, which was opened in May 1942.
"We uncovered seven mass graves with an average depth of five yards. In them there were charred human remains and under them remains in a state of decay. That means that in the final stage the victims were burned..." |
