"Gun rights documentary maker Max Lemus informs me his 'Not without a fight' video has been completed and its official release date is today."
Find out how you can purchase your copy.
This young man invested months of his life traveling the country to interview gun rights activists, and invested his own savings in order to bring this to us, and I think he's created a tool that can be very helpful in spreading the message "outside the choir." When you consider how uncompromising the views presented are, that's really a pretty remarkable achievement.
I'd like to think someone who has earned our support deserves to actually receive it.

"Gun Control creates wounds all its own. Gun control creates heartbreak. It creates immense numbers of injuries, both emotional and physical. Gun control creates a tyranny that is the worst injury of all: abuse of the law and the destruction of the United States."
"In my last essay, I addressed the central point of Dr. Adams who observed that law enforcement officers who must shoot the suspect in their duty suffer wounds he as a police surgeon did not expect to see: emotional trauma. I had posted that gun owners have long been keenly aware of how traumatizing such an action is long before the doctor noticed it ..." ... |

"Back in September, census worker Bill Sparkman was found dead--apparently hanged--in Kentucky. Almost immediately, this was portrayed as 'proof' of 'right-wing hate.' Anti-government sentiment on the part of the right, the story went, had become so toxic that murder was becoming a staple of right-wing political discourse."
"A bit after the discovery of Sparkman's body, I wrote about the exploitation of his death to demonize the right." ... |

Despite the location of the entry wounds, there is every indication that Vasconcellos brought about his own demise, because he fled from the police and when pursuing officers caught up with him near the closed city park where the chase had begun, the teen pulled a 9mm handgun and aimed it at them ..." ...
"The dilemma law-abiding gun owners, including the 5 million or so legally-armed citizens who are licensed to carry, along with the tens of thousands of open carry activists, is that when guys like Vasconcellos misbehave, guys like Bloomberg want to hold honest gun owners somehow responsible." ... |

"State Rep. Joe Heflin has joined a bipartisan group of state legislators and elected officials from all 50 states in signing an amicus curiae, or 'friend of the court' brief supporting the National Rifle Associations position that individual protections of the Second Amendment are incorporated to apply to the states through the 14th Amendment." ...
"'I believe it is imperative that gun rights be preserved to the individual, and that those rights should not be impinged by state or local governments,' Heflin said. 'I believe that was the intention of our founding fathers, and it is a position that I continue to support by joining in this filing today.'" ... |

"Phoenix-based Bloomfield Press has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to say yes, in an amicus ('friend of the court') brief just filed."

"Last week the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit cast doubt on the constitutionality of a 1996 federal law that bars anyone convicted of a misdemeanor involving domestic violence from owning a gun for the rest of his life. Other courts, including the 10th Circuit, have concluded that the law is consistent with D.C. v. Heller ... Justice Antonin Scalia wrote for the majority in Heller, 'nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill.' But as the 7th Circuit noted ... Heller did not address the constitutionality of taking gun rights away from people convicted of misdemeanors. ..." ... |

The Court announced in late September that it would visit the question of whether state and local governments could deny rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment on the federal level. ..."
"'I'm pleased the Supreme Court is going to address this issue,' Peterson said after learning of the Court's decision to hear the case. "U.S. Senator Sam Brownback joined an overwhelming, bipartisan majority of members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate in signing an amicus curiae, or 'friend of the court,' brief supporting the NRA's position that the Second Amendment is incorporated against the states through the Fourteenth Amendment. The amicus brief, bearing the signatures of 251 Members of Congress and 58 Senators, was filed with the U.S. Supreme Court today in the case of McDonald v. City of Chicago. "When is lethal force justified? At the most basic, in American law, it is when you truly believe that your life will be taken or you will suffer grievous harm if you don't stop the assailent. In discussions with my sister, she has said that she wouldn't carry a gun because in a panic of fear for her life she might misinterpret a threat that wasn't actually going to be lethal or grievous and might kill someone who wasn't really planning to kill her. She wouldn't be able to live with the guilt, so it is better for her not to be tempted by the option of using lethal force. I love her, but I think she is wrong. If the attacker isn't interested in her purse, but does indeed plan to rape and kill her, she really loses. How do you know?" ... |

"One of the interesting not-so-sub-texts of yesterdays joint gun control press conference between Sen. Gillibrand and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-L.I.) was the fact that the two have certainly not always seen eye-to-eye on guns."
"You'll remember McCarthy, a staunch gun-control advocate whose husband was killed and her son wounded in the infamous 1993 [LIRR] shooting, famously threatened to primary Gillibrand in 2010 over the former upstate congresswoman's NRA-friendly views."

The conclusion that Sparkman died by his own hands, and not by those of anti-government zealots, was seen by Clay County community activist Doug Abner as a vindication for the area." ... -------

Gun proponents love this provision, saying it means the law doesn't actually allow guns in bars but only in restaurants that happen to serve alcohol. It helps them seem more reasonable. But they make that claim with a wink and a nod because everyone knows that, as a practical matter, it's impossible to tell the difference."
