What is the secret to winning? Putting every shot on target. How do you do that? Well, if I can borrow an old phrasepractice, practice, practice. Certainly, practice matters, but your gun and ammo have to be capable, as well. Even if our guns might not be the most accurate guns around, precise ammo can bring out their best. A few manufacturers make match quality ammo for pistols, such as Federal, ASYM, Atlanta Arms and Wilson Combat, and now SIG Sauer has jumped into the market with a Match Elite 9mm Luger load. It features a 147-grain V-Crown bullet, made by Sierra, which also fill SIGs defensive Elite line of pistol ammunition.

The Colt Walker revolver was carried into battle by the Texas Rangers during the Mexican-American War, named after the captain who commissioned its design. Nearly 200 years later, one of those original handguns was unearthed in, of all places, a bedroom lock box in Montgomery County, the end of a journey that covered thousands of miles. "They are the most historic, and historically important, revolvers," said Herb Glass Jr., the firearms historian who authenticated the Walker for Alderfer Auctions, a clearinghouse in Hatfield. Glass estimated that out of the 1,100 Walkers manufactured, about 160 survive. Alderfer's auctioneers place that number closer to the high 30s.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) has petitioned the Supreme Court to review its case, Mance v. Whitaker, challenging the long-standing ban on interstate handgun sales to law-abiding citizens from other states. A federal district court earlier ruled that the interstate handgun transfer ban is facially unconstitutional, which was reversed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Fifth Circuit denied the petition for rehearing en banc by a fractured vote of 8-7.

For gun owners, the 115th Congress will go down in history as a time of extreme partisan rancor and discord. Gun control was once again at the top of congressional Democrats agenda, and bitter confirmation and election battles hardened attitudes throughout our nations capitol. As I write this, much remains unsettled about the political landscape we will face in the coming two years. But this much is certainmore intense battles over the Second Amendment are in front of us.

Concealed handgun carry reciprocity is about to die. It is about to die through deliberate inaction or callous indifference of the U.S. Senate. But we have a small window of opportunity: 21 days left to achieve the goal that has eluded us for years. It seemed assured of being accomplished by the Republican-controlled 115th Congress but, it wasnt.

Mothers usually protect their children, but the tables were turned in Idaho when an adult daughter saved her mother from an assailant. Law enforcement officers were dispatched after a call came in about a disturbance in the neighborhood. As the police were responding, they were advised there had been a shooting at the house in question. They arrived to find civilians administering first aid to a 39-year-old man, who was shot by a 41-year-old woman. Emergency medical services personnel continued treatment, but to no avail. The armed citizen told officers that she fired because the man was attacking her 70-year-old mother. Witnesses and evidence supported the claim

It was two years ago that I first had the opportunity to review an Arex ReX Zero 1 semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9 mm. Manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility by Arex of Slovenia, and imported to the U.S. by The FIME Group, these aluminum-frame pistols have quickly gained a loyal following among American shooting enthusiasts due to their high quality and fair price. The company has been busily introducing new frame colors for the Standard and Compact models, a full-size tactical model, the Alpha race pistol and, most recently, the ReX Zero 1TC Tactical Compact. Here is a closer look at this latest offering.

Due to a recent policy change, students at Ithaca College can no longer store guns in the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management. The change was made to Section 7.1.2.3.5 of the colleges Student Conduct Code, which previously stated that weapons, including firearms, were prohibited unless approved by and stored at the Public Safety office. Now, thats no longer possible Bill Kerry, director of Public Safety and Emergency Management, said. Kerry said he suggested the change because of the recent rise in mass shootings taking place across the country and that he felt having any guns on campus would be too much of a risk.
