Instead, the organization has become a one-stop shop for sophistry and rationalization for those who oppose responsible solutions to gun violence. My favorite: All we need to do is enforce the laws already on the books. Do they not know that most mass shooters get their guns and ammo legally? Including Adam Lanza.
Ah, but he was insane, comes the retort.
Indeed he was. But the mentally ill can buy weapons just as easily as anybody else. (Thanks, NRA!) And so can their sane but incomprehensibly foolish loved ones, for them. According to the recently released Connecticut attorney's report on Newtown, Lanza's mother assembled his arsenal. |

Remember that big loophole? The Brady Act background check requirement does not apply to gun sales between private parties. Millions of guns are sold this way every year off the record transactions with no background check and no paperwork required. Cash and carry. This vast, unregulated marketplace of private sellers exists primarily at gun shows and on the Internet, and maybe out of the trunk of a car on your block. The magnitude of this problem is staggering. During a three-month period, nearly all (94 percent) of the 170,000 guns posted for sale on a popular online firearms marketplace were offered by private sellers. |

RT: Could someone print a plastic 3D gun, bring it through metal detectors and kill pretty much anyone, anywhere - even in the White House?
MK: Yes, you could. And I think this pulls us closer to the real danger, being amateur produced plastic weapons. In the US the black market has always existed, if you really want to buy a high-grade firearm, or a gun, its always been possible to get one. In fact, in many states, and this is regulated at the state level in the US, its actually not even difficult to get a weapon legally. So the fact that a 3D printer that prints high-grade metal parts can make a very nice metal 3D printed gun, thats not so much the danger right now as these consumer guns. |

"We hope to have the important constitutional question that remains resolved quickly and properly," Tyler said.
Richard Westfall, one of the attorneys for the plaintiffs, said he was heartened that the judge will allow the sheriffs to participate in the lawsuit as individuals if they want.
He also said he hopes the laws can still be overturned.
"The two laws are still subject to being challenged on constitutional grounds," Westfall said. |

After having banned concealed carry in all of their stadiums, and even ordering women to give up their purse in favor of see-through plastic bags, (dont ya feel safer now?) the NFL has accelerated its war on gun ownership and the Second Amendment by trampling on the First Amendment. The League has refused to air a commercial for Daniel Defense in the 2014 Super Bowl on grounds that the weapons manufacturer violates the NFL regulations for prohibited advertising categories. |

I believe that the rights we have in the Constitution make this country unique and if you start letting people take those rights away because some nutjob does something crazy then pretty soon were not going to have any rights left. So even if you dont own a firearm you better start supporting the Second Amendment because sooner or later someone will get around to taking away the rights that do matter to you! |

Regardless of the office theyre seeking or its duties, Republicans statewide campaigns are heavy on two themes: antipathy toward the Obama administration and devotion to all things gun. Almost every candidate has a video, website or campaign ad that shows the contender firing or carrying a gun. They also all promise to fight President Barack Obama on myriad issues, be it environmental protections, health care or banking regulations but especially on gun control.

Hudaks resignation may seem like a victory for gun owners in Colorado, but it actually prevents a Republican takeover of the state senate. Had a Republican replaced Hudak in a special election, Republicans would have gained control of the upper legislature.
Now that Hudak is resigning, the Democrats can appoint her successor. This will help them to hold onto their one-seat majority.
...
If Hudak really believes that the majority of Coloradoans are on her side, she would not have resigned on Wednesday. She won her last election by less than 400 votes, and was certain to lose any recall election facing her.

A father and his two sons have been arrested in Australia after police found a $3 million arsenal of more than 300 guns and 4.2 tons of ammunition at their farm, police said Thursday.
The men, aged 69, 46 and 42, were charged with possessing restricted firearms after police found the weapons stockpile stashed in sheds at their property in Monto, Queensland.
Among the 328 weapons were military-style automatic rifles, some of which were worth up to $50,000 each, and Glock handguns worth $10,000, police said. |

On Saturday and Sunday, the RK Gun Show returns to the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. This past January, a line of customers stretched hundreds of people deep into the parking lot. Gun enthusiasts bumped shoulder-to-shoulder browsing the 300 tables. |

From 6 to 8 a.m. Friday morning, signature gatherers will be urging visitors to a coffee shop to sign Initiative 594, the 15-page gun control measure sponsored by the Washington Alliance for Gun Responibility. By the numbers, they appear to have fallen behind the simpler Initiative 591. As the Seattle Times reported one week ago, after I-591 supporters delivered an estimated 340,000 signatures to the Secretary of States office in Olympia, the far better financed I-594 effort was closing in on 325,000 signatures according to WAGR spokesman Christian Sinderman, quoted by the Times. |

But come January, the two men will be out of office. When they depart, attention will likely focus on some of their less well-known members and that could be a problem.
The latest of the legally challenged is Mayor Gordon Jenkins of Monticello, NY. Last week, he was arrested for driving under the influence and for literally punching a police department clock, which forced cops to handcuff him to a chair. |

Since the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed in two recent cases that the right to carry firearms under the Second Amendment applies to individuals, a multitude of local gun-control ordinances have been overturned, modified or dropped.
Now, a new argument prepared by three legal experts goes further, arguing that the Second Amendments protection of arms includes knives as well.
The recent landmark Heller and McDonald case precedents could now be used against many local restrictions on carrying knives, the authors say. |

Obamacare has provided rich fodder for jokes, even if they are a little grim, because of its failed website, cancellation notices and huge premium spikes.
One used-car dealer in Denver, Colo., even boasted, At least our website works.
So its no surprise websites such as ObamaGunCare.com would appear with the promise, If you like your gun, you can keep it, period.
And If you like your gun, no one is going to ban it, period. Unless
The parody is the brainstorm of the Second Amendment Foundation.
With a track record like Barack Obama has on health care, we dont want the president getting involved in gun care or firearms safety, the organization says. |

A Colorado lawmaker targeted for recall because of her support for a White House-driven anti-gun agenda in the state legislature has quit rather than wait for the results of a recall vote, after two of her colleagues were voted out of office.
For state Sen. Evie Hudak, D-Westminster, the previous recalls of two Democrats left her party with only an 18-17 advantage in the chamber. A successful recall against Hudak would have shifted the majority to the Republican Party. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Those, who have the command of the arms in a country are masters of the state, and have it in their power to make what revolutions they please. [Thus,] there is no end to observations on the difference between the measures likely to be pursued by a minister backed by a standing army, and those of a court awed by the fear of an armed people. Aristotle, as quoted by John Trenchard and Water Moyle, An Argument Shewing, That a Standing Army Is Inconsistent with a Free Government, and Absolutely Destructive to the Constitution of the English Monarchy [London, 1697]. |
