Brady's Solid Support of Democrats Affirms Party's Anti-Gun Posture, Says CCRKBA

"Thanks to the Brady Campaign's list of endorsements for the Nov. 7 elections, which almost exclusively went to Democrats, it is now clear that the Democrat Party's anti-gun philosophy really hasn't changed, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) said today."

"'For several years,' observed CCRKBA Chairman Alan M. Gottlieb, 'Democrats have been carefully crafting their rhetoric to conceal their anti-gun agenda. They have espoused 'support' for the Second Amendment and individual gun rights, but the anti- gun rights Brady Campaign's list of endorsements belies any pro- gun positions the party has professed.'" ...

"Things look a lot better for the Second Amendment than they do for the Republican party. A race-by-race analysis of the Senate suggests that, while party control of the Senate could change, the Senate is very likely to retain a pro-gun working majority."

"A 50-seat tsunami in the House would result in a gain of over two dozen seats for anti-gun forces; the more realistic scenario is a total Democratic gain of 30 of less, with about half of the freshman Democrats being anti-gun. This would leave the House with a fairly comfortable pro-Second Amendment majority."

"In the governors mansions, gun owners could even come out ahead on this election, if pro-Second Amendment candidates hold on in some close races ..." ...

As a way to help analyze how support for gun violence prevention measures helped or hurt in the 2006 elections, the list below shows those races where the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and the National Rifle Association have both endorsed candidates. Additional information to help analyze the strength or weakness of gun control in the 2006 elections follows the list." ...

"Self-defense is a privilege that governments may choose to grant or withdraw. You have no human right to self-defense. If a government does not impose repressive restrictions on gun ownershipmore severe than even the laws in New York City or Washington, D.C.then that government is guilty of violating international human rights."

"So says the United Nations in its latest assault on the Second Amendment." ...

"We received the following email from a member, who had heard that Costco Wholesale warehouse clubs had banned firearms in their stores. Read the letter, and the response from Costco below. While JPFO agrees that Costco has the right to restrict firearm possession on their premises, we also believe that firearms supporters have the right to protest with their dollars, by not shopping at Costco."

"If you're a Costco member and decide to discontinue your membership as a result of this policy, we suggest that you make sure that Costco knows why!" ...

"Taken from this week's 'Page Nine' Alan Korwin's 'The uninvited Ombudsman Report'"

"1- The lamestream media told you:"

One boy fired one shot from one gun into one ceiling of one schoolroom in one state, Ohio, and his gun jammed, according to CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, MSN, the AP wire, and newspapers nationwide. The tale was repeated for days in every city in America."

"The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:"

"A teenager in Corpus Christi, Texas, saved his mother and himself by killing a knife-wielding intruder in their home, with a single gunshot from his Dad's sidearm." ...

"The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is challenging Democrat Darcy Burner, candidate for Washington State's 8th District, to repudiate her endorsement from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, on the grounds that she has claimed to be a pro-gun Democrat."

"'Early in the campaign, Darcy Burner indicated that she supports an individual citizen's right to keep and bear arms,' said CCRKBA Chairman Alan M. Gottlieb. 'Now is her chance to prove it by telling the Brady Campaign to keep their endorsement. Otherwise, it is a clear signal to firearms owners in Washington's 8th Congressional District where she really stands on the issue of individual gun rights.'" ...

"Back in July, I managed to rile up the National Rifle Association when I wrote a column about the largest gun rights organization--and perhaps the nations most powerful lobby--not representing hunters. In the column, I wrote that the NRA does a superb job of representing gun owners and should stick to its core mission, protecting the Second Amendment. The NRA should not pretend to represent hunters because the groups political endorsements conflict with the best interests of hunters. This idea gives a few people severe heartburn. If you want to see for yourself, check out the comments on the column." ...

Submitter's Note: I think Oleg Volk says it best: "No one would ban your hunting rifle. They will call it a sniper gun first."

"- Co-sponsored a bill that allows law enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons across state lines. This bill was strongly supported by numerous law enforcement organizations."

"- Sponsored a bill to eliminate the unconstitutional District of Columbia gun ban."

"- Introduced a Right-to-Carry Reciprocity bill that would allow individuals with concealed carry permits to carry in other states, in accordance with that particular states laws." ...

In recent interviews and in Monday nights Natick debate, the two candidates have discussed their views on various social issues." ...

"During the September primary, Howard Dean, Cindy Sheehan and fellow moonbats scored an upset in the 1st District. Will they be able to do the same in the 2nd District in the general election?"

"Firing a congressman is nothing new for this district. When Dick Swett reneged on his promise to support Second Amendment rights and increased taxes on Social Security recipients, he was fired and replaced by Charlie Bass."

"Bass's 12-year record is one of accomplishment. He has been good on small business issues and supported tax reductions that have led the way for a robust economy."
