Members of Brooklyns orthodox Jewish community were angered Monday after a rabbi was given a ticket for jaywalking and then subjected to what they say was insensitive treatment by a police officer.

Rabbi Sholom Emert and his wife are upset not so much that he got a ticket for jaywalking on a busy avenue in Midwood, Brooklyn. But rather, he said, that the police officer forced him to violate the traditions of his Orthodox Jewish faith.

This officer did not understand my religious life, Rabbi Emert told CBS 2s John Metaxas.

Who will be the next hate group? The Catholic Church? The Southern Baptist Convention? The Orthodox Union? Or maybe theyll go after Second Amendment groups next, or anti-tax groups, or the anti-Islamists. Ordinarily, this would just be a joke, a leftist stunt unworthy of attention. But the SPLC is taken seriously (for a little while longer, at least) by many in the media and is frequently consulted by law enforcement at all levels (many of the ridiculous claims in the DHS reports on extremists came from the SPLC).

For his part, the bear hunters banner day flagged fast after the kill. While Bozo had set a size record for a state bear by 15 pounds, adverse publicity and public debate surrounding the kill reached a peak all its own.

Many were quick to blame hunting itself. Some even asked: Why hunt? And others, only half-joking, declared: Why bear arms if the bears arent armed?

After being tipped off that someone was seeking to sell vintage guns on the Internet, city police on November 29 recovered two 19th century Colt revolvers, along with a replica, that were stolen from the Paterson Museum more 12 years ago, said Lt. Ronald Humphrey.

The two guns, manufactured in Paterson between 1837 and 1840, were worth more than $200,000, said police. It seems they spent the past several years stashed in the insulation of a house in Butler, according to authorities.

What can I do about it? asked a jailhouse lawyer now on parole.

Plenty, others in the audience said.

It is gun violence in New Haven.

James Hanton was one of the people gathered at the Hills Wilson branch library Saturday to talk about what to do about it.

More guns are sold in South Carolina in the weekend after Thanksgiving than at any other time of the year, according to Anderson retailers.

That is because, they said, of the state's Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday, which allows stores to waive the 6 percent state sales tax on many firearms.

It is members of the press who support Fourth Amendment violations at airports by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security. They've also shown hostility toward the Second Amendment, which defends the right of a citizen to own firearms and have at times characterized the Ninth and 10th Amendments as racist.

Self-Protection: Pennsylvania's governor vetoes a bill expanding a citizen's right to protect self and family outside one's residence rather than exercise a "duty to retreat." It is a victory for predators over victims.

On Saturday, while people were still sleeping off their turkey feast or celebrating their Black Friday goodies, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell vetoed a bill that would have expanded the state's so-called Castle Doctrine to expand the permissible use of deadly force in self-defense outside of the currently allowed home and workplace.

Few prosecutions for sedition

Radio host Joyce Kaufman says to a crowd at a rally: "I am convinced the most important thing the Founding Fathers did to ensure me my First Amendment rights was they gave me a Second Amendment. And if ballots don't work, bullets will." Why is this not prosecuted as sedition?

Prosecutions for sedition, which is the crime of revolting or inciting revolt against the government, are very rare because the First Amendment's guarantee of free speech offers very broad protection.

Rendell did no good thing for the citizens of Pennsylvania by exercising his veto pen. Fortunately for us here in Washington, hes at the far end of the country and our courts have already assured us that his philosophy will find no footing here.

One more thing: In 2009, the murder rate in Pennsylvania was 5.2 per 100,000 population. Here in Washington, the rate was 2.7 per 100,000, according to this website.

A Logansport girl remains in the hospital, after a BB gun shot by a three-year-old fractured her skull and severed an artery. The girl had been spending the night at the home with the three-year-old's sibling.

On Saturday, we heard 6-year-old Ariana Roman was awake and alert , but still in critical condition at a Fort Wayne Hospital. Several calls to Logansport police for an update on her condition were not returned.

Now gun experts say Ariana's situation serves as an unfortunate example of the importance of safety when using and storing guns.

In order to be shot accurately and with repeatable results all guns require a stable shooting platform. The Black Gun Shooting Rest is light weight, easy to transport, and rock solid stable. If a rest is cumbersome to set up and use the shooter would be as well off piling up various sand bags and other apparatus upon which to lay their weapon.when testing the accuracy of a rifle stability is paramount.the key is that the rifle must be held absolutely steady when the trigger is pressed.

The project got temporary approval despite opposition from Westminster city staff and residents who would share a property line with the gun range. Proponents say safety and noise won't be an issue.

Mike Boyd and his wife, Ruth Christy, moved to this quiet, sidewalk-lined Midway City neighborhood 18 years ago, attracted to what they call an "old-fashioned" place to live.

But Boyd, 73, and a handful of other residents are up in arms about a proposed 6,380-square-foot indoor gun range in their neighborhood, an unincorporated area of Orange County that borders Westminster. Residents say the range would destroy their quiet, their property values and their peace of mind.

Lubbock man contends limits on handguns are unconstitutional

A Lubbock teens bid to allow 18-to-20-year-olds to buy handguns and take classes that would allow them to carry concealed weapons has garnered the support of the National Rifle Association.

And the lawsuits could change state and federal law.

Texas Tech University student James DCruz, 18, is challenging a ban on 18-to-20-year-olds buying handguns from federally licensed dealers and also is questioning Texas concealed handgun laws, which limit licenses to qualifying adults over 21.

It was not a good sign that Barack Obama kept his nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives a secret until after the midterm election and then quickly announced that anti-gun zealot Andrew F. Traver would be named to fill the slot.

After being blasted before November 2′s election by the liberal New York Times for failing to beef up the ATF by appointing a director for fear of the wrath of the gun lobby Obama gets right past the election and, presto chango, a nominee appears. How bout that?
