... "As a good old friend of mine just reminded me, this is not new. Like the Israelites, the American people have asked for a King and one has been given to them. But I recall that the Founders went into battle, crying 'No King but Jesus!' My agnostic and libertarian friends would doubtless choke on the last two words of that battle cry. Let us at least agree on 'No King!'"

"Let us also be prepared, trained, and patient -- but holding on ready."

"Let us never cede the moral high ground nor become the monsters we fight."

"But if our enemies insist upon it, let us fight for and let us win the restoration of the Founders' Republic."

"In a word, let us be resolved."

"It is what it is. The spawn of the Chicago political machine has won, bringing with him all that implies.

"The election results could not bode more seriously for gun owners. Get ready for a renewed push for gun control, unlike anything we've seen since the Clintons ruled."

"The strong Election Day showing for Democrats signals stronger support for 'sensible gun laws' in this country and a 'significant setback' for the [NRA], a gun control group said Tuesday night."

"The Brady Campaign issued a statement even before Sen. Barack Obama was declared the winner, saying the political environment is better than it's been in years for 'progress on gun violence prevention.'"

"The NRA spent millions on ads during the campaign, warning that Sen. Barack Obama would be the most anti-gun president in American history."

"But according to the Brady Campaign, the NRA failed to deliver its 'supposed block of single-issue voters' ... According to exit polls, the economy took precedence for many voters." ...

" With Democrats Barack Obama and Joe Biden appearing headed toward victory in the race for President and Vice President, and other results signaling stronger support for sensible gun laws in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House as well as the White House, the political environment for progress on gun violence prevention appears much stronger tonight than in years."

"The results also represent a significant setback for the National Rifle Association, which spent more than $10 million (after initially promising to spend $40 million) saying that Senator Obama would be 'the most anti-gun President in American history.' The organization appears to have failed to deliver their supposed block of single-issue voters. ..." ...

... "My view of the world as I see it is based mostly on the fact that I am an American nearly 81 years old having lived through the hard times and good times, times of hope as well as despair ..." ...

"Remember the time when as now a double barreled shotgun, long rifle for big game and small bore, were treasured possessions for hunting. Now, using the Second Amendment of some 200 years ago, the National Rifle Association is scaring the people into the lie that their hunting rifles will be confiscated for no reason if a certain party wins election. The Second will always stand, but must be updated to suppress sales of AK-47 and various automatic and semiautomatic weapons not needed for hunting by the general public."

"In a major upset, two New York State Senate challengers endorsed by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence defeated long-term NRA-backed incumbents to help deliver control of the Senate to the Democrats for the first time since 1964. New York City Councilman Joseph Addabbo beat Senator Serphin Maltese in Queens, and Town Supervisor Brian Foley beat Senator Caeser Trunzo on Long Island."

"The Brady Campaign had a very successful night statewide as all 14 endorsed Assembly incumbents won re-election. Three of those incumbents beat challengers that received an A rating from the NRA. In the Senate, five of the six Brady-endorsed candidates won their elections." ...

"As predicted, the gun grabbers are salivating in the wake of the election of an anti-gun president."

"'The election of Barack Obama as President and Joe Biden as Vice President was a decisive victory for common sense gun laws,' said the Brady Campaign in a statement on their website. 'The election also represents a critical loss for the National Rifle Association'"

"Sarah Brady, Chair of the Brady Campaign, praised the election as, 'a bad day for extremists who are stuck in the rhetoric of the past.'"

"So much for the Heller decision sending them licking their wounds."

"The Brady Campaign was one of several anti-gun organizations that strongly endorsed Obama's candidacy." ...

"We all know this morning that Barack Obama has won the presidency. As did The Brady Campaign, AHSA, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, George Soros, and every other anti-gun pundit who ever wanted to take your Second Amendment rights away from you."

"As I said in the Firearms Freedom Podcast last night, there is a clear and present danger to your rights, and the change that's coming might not be what people hoped it would be."

"... It is likely to be a difficult road ahead for gun owners. However, if we send a clear message that we will not fade quietly into the night, perhaps the potential negative political consequences of pursuing an anti-gun agenda will dissuade the Obama administration ..." ...

"Given the enthusiasm for reactionary economics in the ranks of the victors on Election Day, it seems highly likely that they will repeat the same policy mistakes of the Hoover-FDR era. The recession we now appear to be in could, with a coordinated Big Government approach to policy, be fairly easily parlayed into a full-blown depression." ...

"... The incoming regime wants to curtail the First Amendment rights of broadcasters and anyone who dares to criticize ACORN, crack down on the Second Amendment rights of everyone, abolish the secret ballot in union-certification drives, and create an authoritarian-sounding Civilian National Security Force."

"America appears poised to get change good and hard."

"'In past elections, Republicans have exploited the gun issue because many of our members are avid hunters and fishermen,' [Dan Lawson, vice president of Local 4-261] said. "Unfortunately, smooth talking and catchy slogans have won the 2008 election."

"So where are we now? ..." ...

"Second Amendment rights have never been in more jeopardy. For the first time in American history, there is a real chance law-abiding citizens could lose the right to own firearms. Gun owners won the most recent attack on constitutional rights, but liberal justices like the ones Obama would appoint could put an end to that. An old adage says, 'A man with a gun is a citizen; take it away and he is a peasant.' Americans may find out soon enough." ...

"Nelson Rising, chairman of Tom Bradleys 1982 campaign for California governor, still remembers the phone call. Bradley called him shortly after 4 a.m. on a long Election Night, when it was clear Bradley had lost to Republican George Deukmejian."

"'You were right,' Bradley told Rising a bit wearily."

"With those words, Bradley, the Democratic mayor of Los Angeles, acknowledged that a political mistake had cost him the governorship. And, despite all the theories ... the mayor himself knew his loss had little to do with race or polls."

"The main problem was guns. Against Risings advice, Bradley had endorsed Proposition 15, a statewide ballot initiative that would have put a freeze on purchases of new guns ..." ...

"Local golden eagle migration research may indicate dangers associated with the use of lead bullets, especially health risks to human consumers of big game meat, researchers say."

"The high levels of lead found in the eagles is a result of the birds feeding on the carcasses of animals that were shot by hunters using lead bullets, meaning the meat could be unfit for people to eat."

"'A lot of these eagles are coming in with lead levels that could be fatal to human beings,' said Tyler Veto, a wildlife biologist for the Missoula-based Raptor View Research Institute." ...
