"If we cant get assurances, the only acceptable course for the Senate to take is to reject her, and for that to happen, we cant stand still for NRA to cheese out on us like they did with Holder. If Lynch turns out to be just another apparatchik, gun owners must demand, as they have with other nominees like Sotomayor, Kagan and Murthy, that not just the confirmation vote, but also the vote to bring it out of committee and onto the floor, be scored. And this time, the impact actually ought to mean more than a measly half-grade reduction."

Nine freshly-minted Port Authority Police officers are being fired and three supervisors disciplined following a rowdy celebration at a Hoboken bar after graduation from the police academy, the agency announced today.
The Aug. 22 incident has also prompted the Port Authority to re-evaluate candidate screening and other practices at the Port Authority Police Academy, the agency said.
The incident involved members of the academys 113th graduating class who gathered at Texas Arizona, a well-known night spot at corner of River Street and Hudson Place, a block from the NJ Transit Hoboken Terminal.

"No, all they wanted to do was find out who the idiots were who thought it would be cool to violate U.S. and Mexican laws by allowing illegal arms shipments to be handed off to murderous cartels so that guns could be recovered at violent crime scenes meaning found lying on the ground after people had been killed and then used as fodder to demand more citizen disarmament in this country. All they wanted to do is determine who was responsible for authorizing an illegal operation that has, to date, resulted in untold numbers of dead, with more hits yet to come. As for idiot cronies, by default those must include justice-seeking family survivors of murdered Border Patrol agent Brian Terry."

Theres no doubt that the new lieutenant governor and presiding officer of the state Senate is as conservative as they come in the Texas Legislature. He has long been a favorite of the Tea Party.

As a member of the Senate since 2007, he has championed tax cuts, anti-abortion legislation, Second Amendment rights, school choice in the form of vouchers and last years sharp reduction in standardized testing for high school students.

In April 2013, NRA state affiliate New York State Rifle & Pistol Association (NYSRPA) filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York challenging the constitutionality of Title 38 of the Rules of the City of New York.

The case is now pending as NYSRPA v. City of New York.

The suit states that the rules infringe upon the Second Amendment by denying the right to possess and carry a firearm for personal defense, as well as by prohibiting residents from practicing at a firearms range or participating in shooting events located outside the borders of the City of New York.

The Second Amendment Foundation announced today it had won a small, but significant court ruling from a federal judge in the District of Columbia who denied a motion by the city to reconsider his July ruling that the District ban on carry outside of the home is unconstitutional under any level of scrutiny.

Yesterdays decision came from U.S. District Judge Frederick J. Scullin, Jr., who warned the District in his July ruling that, in light of Heller, McDonald and their progeny, there (was) no longer any basis on which this court (could) conclude that the District of Columbias total ban on the public carrying of ready-to-use handguns outside the home (was) constitutional under any level of scrutiny.

In a victory for gun owners who simply seek medical care, not political philosophy, from their doctors, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has upheld the NRA-supported Floridas Firearm Owners Privacy Act.

This law was passed after an escalating series of events in which patients were harassed or denied access to services because they refused to be interrogated by their doctors about their ownership of firearms. The case, Wollschlaeger v. Governor of Florida, vindicated Floridas attempt to protect patients from being forced to divulge personal information that is irrelevant to their own medical treatment.

The National Rifle Association and its allies in conservative media are attempting to downplay the significance of an "historic" victory for gun safety in Washington state, where voters overwhelmingly approved a ballot initiative to expand background checks on gun sales.

On November 4, Washington voters backed Initiative 594, a proposal to require a background check on nearly all gun sales, with some exceptions for temporary transfers and transfers between family members. In doing so, Washingtonians closed a loophole in federal law that allowed guns to be bought without a background check at gun shows, over the Internet, and through other venues from non-licensed sellers.

For the second time in as many years, Chicago taxpayers will be forced to foot the bill for their politicians insistence on pursuing unconstitutional gun control. In early July, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois ordered Chicago to pay $940,000 to the NRA.

The order stems from an NRA victory in the lawsuit Illinois Association of Firearms Retailers v. Chicago. Back in January, Judge Edmond E. Chang of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois invalidated Chicagos complete ban on firearm sales in the city.

An emboldened gun prohibition lobby, supported by media cheerleaders, is still celebrating its gun control victory in Washington State with the passage of Initiative 594, calling it a game changer late yesterday in USA Today, and another story published elsewhere was headlined Bill Gates Beats NRA, Washington State Passes Strict Gun Control Law.

Brady Campaign President Dan Gross told USA Today, While we'll never take our eyes off the prize of federal legislation, the result in Washington shows us that we can have a huge impact in the short term.

Basically, the judge is saying that there is no urgent need for the license information to be disclosed to the public and that it can wait for a court to decide the matter.

As Eugene Volokh pointed out in a recent Washington Post column, its possible that the argument used by the dancers could be tried by those who oppose the public disclosure of personal information about people with licenses for firearms.

One could argue though a court may not accept it that, much like the release of dancers names may inhibit their First Amendment rights to perform, that the release of gun-owners names might inhibit people from taking advantage of their Second Amendment rights.

Put that in your chamber and cock it.

Gallup, which has been surveying the politically volatile question for a generation, announced this morning a new poll revealing that nearly two-out-of-three Americans (63%) now say having a firearm there makes a home safer.

Despite a Republican takeover of the U.S. Senate, gun control advocates celebrated Wednesday on the heels of a major ballot measure victory in Washington state, which they say offers a new road map for enacting new gun laws around the country, Time magazine reports. The new national strategy is to largely bypass Congress, where recent gun control efforts have gotten little traction even in the wake of the 2012 mass shooting in Newtown, Conn. Instead, gun control activists say they are redirecting their attention and money to states and to voters directly.

Roseland is home to less than 6,000 residents, but according to a lawsuit filed by several current and former borough cops, its police force is run by a megalomaniacal despot.
Thats how six current and former officers describe Borough Police Chief Richard McDonough in a lawsuit they filed last month against him, a police captain and the municipality itself.
In the wide-ranging lawsuit, the officers accuse McDonough of using on-duty personnel and police vehicles for personal errands, altering reports to manipulate crime statistics, covering up accidents involving borough officials and using the Internal Affairs process as a tool of terror.
