You have made use of red-dot sights on your competitive guns and find them to be an advantage when shooting steel and paper targets. There have been pluses and minuses with size and brightness of the dots as well as their durability, making consideration up until now for everyday carry a definite no. It seems that durability along with co-witnessing backup sights help your concerns with the failure factor, but sometimes you have a hard time finding the dot in bright light. You hate to admit it, but your eyes arent what they used to be and the dotsespecially when turned up to the brighter levelsdo not appear round; they look like more of a smear instead of a dot. |

Attorneys for the Biden Administration argued in defense of New York gun control Wednesday and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh responded by criticizing any law that puts Second Amendment rights at police discretion.
The case before SCOTUS is NYSRPA v. Bruengun, the focus of which is a New York statute requiring applicants for a handgun carry permit to prove they have a genuine need, or proper cause, to carry a gun outside the home. Similar laws exist in California and New Jersey.

In a landmark 2010 decision , the Supreme Court ruled that in addition to the federal government, states must also respect the public's individual constitutional right to bear arms. Yet the high court has neglected to take any more major Second Amendment cases in the decade since that would have further clarified the scope of this ruling, leading conservative Justice Clarence Thomas to dub the Second Amendment a disfavored right. As a result, many blue states have found ways to work around Supreme Court precedent and drastically restrict the ability of law-abiding people to carry firearms to protect themselves. |
