Changing your heart is up to you.

The guns carried by two men who were fatally shot Monday after robbing a Reading convenience store were stolen, Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams said Thursday.
Investigators said Alexander G. Bialek gave the guns to William Medina and Robert DeCarr Jr. for the robbery of Krick's Korner, 1671 N. Ninth St.
Adams declined to say where Bialek got the guns, saying only that they were stolen.
Medina, 24, of Reading and DeCarr, 18, of Muhlenberg Township were shot by a man who saw them robbing the store about 2 p.m. Monday, investigators said. |

Dick Metcalfs column Lets talk limits in the December 2013, issue of Guns & Ammo magazine precipitated his disassociation from the publication, but not for the reasons being discussed in blogs and deservedly so. Mr. Metcalf holds himself out to be somewhat of an expert on firearms law and a journalist specializing in firearms issues. Both of these self-described qualifications impose a responsibility to his readership and his employer. Mr. Metcalf failed in this regard! |

Concerns over Alaska's new self-defense law were aired during a presentation by state law officials.
John Skidmore, director of the state Department of Law's criminal division, says the law means individuals can use deadly force in self-defense in any place they have a right to be. The bill passed the Legislature earlier this year and went into effect in September. |

A bill to repeal Floridas controversial Stand Your Ground law was shot down on Thursday by a panel of state lawmakers.
Before a packed house and after hours of impassioned testimony, the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee rejected the proposal to repeal the states self-defense law, which removes ones duty to retreat and allows one to use force, including deadly force, if he/she reasonably believes his/her life is in danger, by a vote of 11-2. |

Its selective prosecution, said Chicago resident Marissa Brown, who joined more than two dozen protesters at the rally outside the county administrative offices in the Loop. Shes saying that police officers can open fire on men in Englewood and not worry about getting in trouble.
Prosecutors announced Tuesday that their two-year investigation into the shooting found that Officer Gildardo Sierra had reason to believe his life was in danger when he shot 16 rounds at Flint Farmer in June 2011. They contend the evidence supports Sierras assertion that he mistook a cell phone in Farmers hand for a gun and acted in self-defense. |

But on Thursday, the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee passed the revamped measure, now the Threatened Use of Force Act, by a vote of 12-1. Rep. Katie Edwards, D-Plantation, was the prime co-sponsor.
The phrase "warning shot" never came up.
And the measure no longer would amend 10-20-Life it would amend the "stand your ground" self-defense law. It would permit people to display guns, threaten to use them or fire warning shots if they were being attacked and feared for their lives. |

Ive been hard at work putting together a book, Shoot to Win: Tips, Tactics, & Techniques to Help You Shoot Like a Pro, that I hope readers from many backgrounds will be interested in reading. A question I get all the time is how did someone like me who had minimal experience with firearms train to beat seventeen other competitors (from the military, law enforcement, and hunters) in a televised marksmanship competition? |

But is the NRA lawsuit more bark than bite?
Of the four gun restriction laws included in Measure C, the NRA is focusing on the one clamping down on high-capacity ammunition magazines, or those which hold more than 10 rounds.
As it turns out, the gun lobbys claim that restricting magazine size is unconstitutional and an infringement on the right to keep and bear arms has been litigated before a federal court before.
To be more specific, this issue came up two years ago before the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. |

Washington state law allows marijuana possession for personal use and marijuana cultivation for medical purposes, but pot is still absolutely banned under federal law. While they appear disinterested in doing so, federal authorities can prosecute medical marijuana growers.
Speaking Friday, Lokens defense attorney Keith Hall said it appears federal prosecutors have drawn a line and will prosecute marijuana growers who use guns to protect themselves.
People just dont know this, said Hall of Newton & Hall Attorneys at Law. If you are going to have a marijuana grow and youre going to have guns around, youre going to get in trouble. |

Most types of ammunition are not limited to handguns, but can be used in rifles and other firearms, the Fifth District Court of Appeal said in a 2-1 ruling Wednesday. As a result, the court said, those affected by the law would not have fair notice of whether it applies to their transactions and when they might be at risk of prosecution. |

Lets consider some of the many factual questions that remain.
Was there another driver involved in Renishas car accident? If so, what does that person know?
What was Renisha doing during the approximately two hours in between her accident and when she was killed? Four blocks, the distance between the car accident and the shooters home stated by the family, is not a long distance to cover over two hours. Was Renisha injured in the car accident?
If Renisha was going door-to-door asking for help after her accident, did she approach other homes or businesses in the area before approaching the home where she was shot? Were any businesses in the vicinity open during those hours? |

An attempted robbery at a Stop and Go gas station resulted in an exchange of gunfire, leaving the female clerk in the hospital and the would-be robber dead Saturday night in Toledo, Ohio.
Christopher Shockley, 28, entered the store armed with a gun just after 9 oclock with the intention of robbing the place. Although exact details of how the events transpired havent been made public, police did confirm with Northwest Ohio News that Shockley fired first, striking the store clerk, 29-year-old December Long, in the abdomen. However, Long then pulled out a gun of her own from behind the counter and returned fire.
He came in to do the armed robbery. It turned into a gun fight, Toledo Police spokesman Joe Heffernan said. |

The other thing we learned while trying to build a 3D-printed gun is that there are much easier ways to make an illegal gun. (And, we learned: printing a gun here in New York City was almost certainly illegal.) All you need in order to shoot a bullet is a firing pin and a tube. The bullet is in the tube, gets struck by the firing pin, and shoots out of the tube toward the thing that you want to see die. If your kid is looking to open a gun manufacturing facility in the basement, tell him to head to Home Depot and pick up some penny nails and piping. Maybe some rubber bands. And you should probably make sure that you've got a low-deductible health plan. |

The plaintiff in a Montana lawsuit seeking freedom from federal gun regulations has written an open letter to members of the U.S. Supreme Court, where his case soon is to be appealed, pleading with them to rein in the federal governments arrogance and conceit.
The natives are beyond restless. They are at the stage of collecting torches and pitchforks and preparing to head for the castle gates en masse, writes Gary Marbut, president of Montana Shooting Sports Association and author of Gun Laws of Montana.
Marbut sued U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in 2009 seeking a court order that would allow him to manufacture and sell within Montana his self-designed Montana Buckeroo .22 rifle without complying with federal gun laws. |

The sister organization has enlisted efforts from over 100 retired military veterans who are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and skilled with the use of firearms.
Capt. Mark Kelly, a retired combat veteran, said on a Friday conference call that their organizations are not seeking to undermine or repeal the Second Amendment.
A retired Army major general, Vance Coleman, said on the call that while he is a gun owner himself, not everyone should have access to firearms, especially the mentally ill and those with a criminal background.
They should not own guns and the Congress needs to do something about that, Coleman said. |
