If approved by the committee during a meeting Thursday, the bill (SB 344), sponsored by Sen. Rob Bradley, R-Fleming Island, would be ready to go to the full Senate when the 2016 legislative session starts in January. |

Americans have a longstanding love affair with shotguns in all their glorious shapes and sizes. Be it a single-shot, double barrel, pump or semi-automatic, folks just can't seem to get enough of the flexibility and power these guns have to offer. But the really interesting thing about the shotgun market is the number of commercial models that push the limits of standard design. |

One translation of Proverbs 19:2 reads, "It is dangerous to have zeal without knowledge."
I've known a few zealots in my time and have observed many more, mostly activists and politicians. At best, the ones I've known were very narrow minded, focused on and driven by an agenda of loosely laced ideological issues.

Once the 2016 Florida legislative session begins Jan. 12, one of the first bills to hit the House floor for a vote will be a law allowing people 21 years and older to carry a gun onto Floridas 40 public college and university campuses as long as they have a legal concealed weapons permit. We urge House members to vote no. We also encourage the judiciary committee the bills next stop in the Senate to keep the bill from advancing to a floor vote.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The right of a citizen to bear arms, in lawful defense of himself or the State, is absolute. He does not derive it from the State government. It is one of the high powers" delegated directly to the citizen, and `is excepted out of the general powers of government.' A law cannot be passed to infringe upon or impair it, because it is above the law, and independent of the lawmaking power." [Cockrum v. State, 24 Tex. 394, at 401-402 (1859)] |
