Responsible gun owners will agree that storing firearms safely in the home should be of the highest priority. Also ranking high on the priority list is being able to access your firearm quickly should a threat situation arise. Keeping your guns in a safe that is not easily accessible will not help you when seconds matter as you might not have the time to access your safe before the threat encounters you, and, if that happens, they arent going to wait. On one hand, we need to keep our firearms away from those who shouldnt access them; on the other, we need to quickly and easily be able to retrieve our gun if need be. So how do we do this? Fortunately, there are ways to accomplish both and safely store your guns in plain sight. |

It seems Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker thinks he is above the lawat least as far as guns are concerned. Even though district court judges have ordered that hundreds of law-abiding citizens should have their permits reinstated, Baker has stood firm on rejecting the order. The legal battle started seven months ago, when state officials asserted that the Firearm Licensing Review Board was granting permits to people who could have been federally barred from owning a gun.

Pistol-caliber carbines (PCC) have become increasingly popular in recent years. One reason may be their inclusion in major action-shooting competitions. Another, however, is the fact they can be quite effective home-defense tools, too. A compact carbine is not only easier to hit with than a handgun, but has significantly less recoil to recover from when repeat hits are needed. That inherent shooting advantage can be important if family members have to operate the gun in an emergency. |

On the heels of a Secret Service investigation prompted by his tweet that challenged President Donald Trump to a fight, D-list celebrity Tom Arnold is now trying to grab headlines by making obviously false allegations about the National Rifle Association. Project 21 was locked and loaded with the truth to set the record straight. The star of The Stupids, The Jerk Theory and Dumbbells said in a recent tweet directed at NRA spokesman Dana Loesch that I think there are 5 black NRA members. |

Ive known Dave Spaulding of Handgun Combatives for a few years now, and I had the opportunity to train with him back in 2016, during a launch event for Rugers American Compact pistol at FTW Ranch near Barksdale, Texas. Rather than inviting gun writers for a simple show and tell, Ruger wisely decided to bring in an expert in the field of armed personal protection to put those writers, and the new gun, through their paces. Spaulding, a career law enforcement officer, graduate of countless shooting schools and a nationally acclaimed firearms instructor for law enforcement personnel and armed citizens, certainly fit the bill.

The last train west chugged across the River Bug to the German-occupied side of the Russo-German border at 0200 on June 22, 1941. An hour later, as the short summer night lifted from central Ukraine, Hitler violated his nonaggression pact with Stalin and launched Operation Barbarossa. Three million Axis soldiers, 6,000 big guns, 2,000 Luftwaffe warplanes, and thousands of tanks flooded into the Ukraine.

Black bear hunting would expand to additional counties in southeastern Oklahoma under a proposal by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. Since 2009, black bear hunting has been allowed in four southeastern Oklahoma counties: Latimer, Le Flore, Pushmataha and McCurtain. Now, the Wildlife Department is wanting to open black bear hunting during archery and muzzleloader seasons in all areas south of Interstate 40 and east of U.S. 69.

Kyle Doheny and Michael Anderson are licensed gun owners who live in different states but have a few things in common. Both are black men who have worked in public safety or national defense. And both say that when they carry their guns, some people dont respect their Second Amendment rights. The two were among the more than 100 people who responded when we asked black gun owners to tell us about their interactions with law enforcement, other authorities and the general public.

Many people who seek to infringe on Second Amendment rights advocate the passage of harsher gun laws to allegedly benefit the common good. But does anyone actually understand what harsher gun laws mean for a states economy? Most advocates for arbitrary and unconstitutional restrictions on the freedoms of gun manufacturers claim to be targeting only certain businesses and customers. This logic is false. These misinformed reformers make the nave assumption that the gun industry is a separate entity from the rest of the American economy. Nothing could be further from the truth.

For years, Second Amendment activists have been ridiculed and disdained for insisting that the gun prohibition agenda is aimed at eroding the fundamental right to keep and bear arms, but on Capitol Hill and out in the other Washington, there is ample evidence that the slippery slope argument has merit.
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that when the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives convenes next month, We will pass common sense gun violence prevention legislation soon, andit will be bipartisan, which remains to be seen.

When a divided federal appeals court panel on Wednesday upheld New Jerseys ban on magazines that hold more than ten cartridges, it underscored why elections matter.
Upholding the restriction were Judges Patty Schwartz and Joseph Greenaway, both nominated by former President Barack Obama. Writing a spirited dissent was Judge Stephanos Bibas, nominated by President Donald Trump. Presidents nominate judges to all the federal courts, and those nominees typically reflect the philosophy of the person in the Oval Office. While Trump has been a lightning rod for all manner of debate, he has been quietly filling federal court vacancies, which may be his lasting legacy.

Wayne County Commissioner Reggie Davis plans to push for a vote on a bullet tax resolution to curb gun violence, despite remarks from the chairman that the commission has "has no plans to take up this measure at this time."
Davis, who represents the sixth district and used to own several guns, wants the state to raise taxes on ammunition and mandate mental illness checks for buyers. The tax revenue would be used for gun safety and gun rights education.
He hopes the plan would be adopted by state and federal lawmakers.
Davis said Friday his proposal, which he first raised in September, has been largely misunderstood and would be a symbolic gesture as part of the Black Lives Matter movement. |

U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., has the right mindset about violence that is perpetrated with guns. Just because someone falls victim to a criminal who uses a gun, that does not mean that guns are bad. What a refreshing approachrefreshing enough that anti-gunners just cant seem to wrap their head around the concept. |

For Republicans in Virginia, its time to face facts. Were slowly becoming Maryland. Yes, we may have a Republican state legislature, but majorities in both houses hang by a thread. The Northern Virginia suburbs, where I live, are chock full of insufferable liberals who drive the direction of the whole state. The days of this state going to the GOP are over. The Obamaites infested the Old Dominion and never left. The next gubernatorial election is not until 2021, but we already have one anti-gun voice that says hes in: state Attorney General Mark Herring. |

Ever been lost? Most experienced woodsmen will deny it, though a few may offer, Ive been a mite turned around a time or two. Hunters joke about it any time someone is a little late getting back to the road, camp or home, but it can be a very serious matter when someone gets legitimately lost. In addition to the immediate and direct threat to the hunters own personal safety, theres the recovery effort. Depending on circumstances, it could require considerable time, money and resources, taking wardens away from the job they should be doing and putting rescuers at risk as well.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church, for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything. You cannot conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." --Robert A. Heinlein, "Revolt in 2100" (Pg. 68-69, Baen Books paperback edition, 1999 printing) |
