A Democratic Senator who represents the district that includes Oxford, Michigan, is pushing a series of new gun control bills that would limit the sale of gun magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

Democrats from the Michigan House and Senate joined Sen. Rosemary Bayer, D-Beverly Hills, at a press conference Thursday morning at the state Capitol to announce the bill package.

Bayer called gun violence an epidemic, adding that thoughts and prayers wont be enough to head off future tragedy like what happened in Oxford.

Senate Bills 785 and 786 and House Bills 5627 and 5628 would prohibit the sale and possession of firearm magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

WI: Stop calling Kyle Rittenhouse a hero. He killed two unarmed people

Proponents of the second amendment right to bear arms applauded the Rittenhouse verdict. But they should not have done so. Kyle Rittenhouse has exploded the myth that guns make us safer. Two men are dead and one wounded only because Rittenhouse was carrying a rifle.

Conservatives sometimes assert that the violence of looting and arson at demonstrations is what provokes counter violence. The irony of Kenosha is that Rittenhouse did not protect property. He simply took life.

Here is what may happen next. Armed men will begin attending the rallies of their political opponents. They now have little to fear from any confrontation.

YAL's chief of staff Sean Themea added in a statement, "As if the Lefts unhinged hatred for Kyle Rittenhouse hadnt already reached ridiculous heights, TikTok has proven itself to be a catalyst for the same kind of leftist censorship that has overrun platforms like Facebook and Twitter. TikTok claimed YALs video supporting Rittenhouses Second Amendment rights featured 'illegal activities and regulated goods.' But just like it is not illegal to defend oneself from Antifa thugs, it is not illegal to post videos about the right to defend oneself from Antifa thugs."

Ive always been anti-gun, said Debbie Mizrahie of Beverly Hills. But I am right now in the process of getting myself shooting lessons because I now understand that there may be a need for me to know how to defend myself and my family. Were living in fear.

During Black Lives Matter protests last year, Mizrahie told The Post, her neighbors home was firebombed with Molotov cocktails.

A West Texas man was acquitted of murder Wednesday in the 2019 fatal shooting of a police officer who was shot while checking a security alarm at the mans home.

A Midland County jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before finding David Wilson not guilty of murder in the death of Midland police Officer Nathan Heidelberg.

Wilsons attorneys had told jurors that he didnt know Heidelberg was a police officer, mistook him for an intruder and shot him in self-defense in the predawn hours of March 5, 2019.

The committee has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, and the agenda will include the following bills:

A.1280/S.103 bans firearms .50 Caliber and greater.
A.1292/S.1481 requires registration of handgun ammunition.
A.3686/S.372 requires new residents to register firearms brought into the state.
A.5030/S.2169 requires mandatory training to get an FID card. Renewable every four years.
A.5647/S.3757 requires mandatory storage of firearms and renders self-defense obsolete.
A.5787/S.3826 requires all new handguns to be equipped with microstamping. This is nothing more than a clever way to block the future sale of traditional handguns.

Okay, I get it. Writing about dummy ammunition is not the most glamorous topic. Its not the same as writing about the latest handgun or rifle on the market. But if youre a gun enthusiast, this is something you need to own. Why? Because its the perfect way to prepare for one of the worst situations you can find yourself in during a gunfight a weapon malfunction.

Or consider gun control. It is bad enough that the ACLU has no interest in defending the constitutional right to armed self-defense, which it says does not exist. It is worse that the organization supports New York's virtual ban on carrying firearms for self-defense, arguing that "restrictions on guns in public spaces are appropriate to make public spaces safe for democratic participation, including First Amendment activity such as assembly, association, and speech."

It would be worse still if the ACLU decided to support gun control more generally, on the theory that firearm restrictions address a problem that disproportionately harms African Americans, as the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund argues.

"Congratulations," co-host Sydney Watson told Rittenhouse Monday night when he appeared on the Blaze podcast, "You Are Here."

Watson also said the killings were "kind of impressive" and that "of all the people that you shot at, you killed probably two of the worst on the planet."

"It's nothing to be congratulated about," Rittenhouse responded. "Like, if I could go back, I wish I would never have had to take somebody's life."

Why Gun Storage Laws Would Do More Harm Than Good

Gun storage is primarily designed to prevent accidental gun deaths of children. According to the Centers for Disease Control, Michigan averaged less than two accidental gun deaths a year for those under 18 from 2010 to 2019. Thats about half the rate of such deaths nationwide.

This disparity must be a puzzle for gun control advocates since a significantly larger percentage of Michigan households have guns and the state doesnt have the gun safety laws that other states have enacted.

But now, the media and some politicians believe that gun locks will help prevent mass public shootings by juveniles. Very few shootings have involved guns stolen from parents.

Worcester and eight other police departments will be conducting a gun buyback program Saturday as part of a collaborative initiative to try to reduce the number of firearms in the community.

People can drop off firearms, unloaded and wrapped up or in a bag, and collect a gift card for groceries without having to provide identification or weapon information.

The police departments will give out gift cards worth $25 for rifles, $50 for handguns and $75 for automatic or semi-automatic guns. They will also accept inoperable guns, ammunition and firearm accessories but nothing will be provided in return for these items.

The FOID Renewal Application Process is currently picking up for those who are interested in renewing their fire arm ID card.

After the surge of FOID applications that occurred in 2020, Illinois State police has finally been able to hire additional fire arm eligibility analyst trainees to help speed up the process.

The state requires FOID renewal applications to be processed within 60 business days, and they are currently being processed now on an average of 38.

At the peak of the backlog for new FOID applications, we were over 140,000 that were in the backlog, and as of today we are under 10,000,″ says Illinois Police Department Director Brendan Kelly.

A few localities think it can and have passed their own excise taxes on guns and ammunition, even though the legal basis for these taxes may be unclear. One of them, Cook County, Ill., recently had its gun tax struck down by the Illinois Supreme Court as a violation of the constitutions uniformity clause. The high court never reached a decision on whether Cook Countys tax constituted a direct violation of the right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment an issue the plaintiff Guns Save Life still wants the court to answer.

One shot is all it takes. Traveling at twice the speed of sound, a bullet pierces its target within milliseconds: your child, your brother, your sister, your parent.

The United States recorded 296 mass shootings this year alone (CBS News). According to Giffords Law Center, large capacity magazines have been used in all ten of the deadliest mass shootings in the last decade. Is this a coincidence? I think not.

Attorney Fieger says he hopes the lawsuit results in such a large payout that it motivates a change in gun laws.

He broke six or seven laws already, said Terry Johnson, an attorney who specializes in firearms laws.

Johnson says more laws wont prevent such shootings.

He (accused shooter Ethan Crumbley) illegally possessed a firearm, which is against the law. He brought it to school which is against the law. He shot in a building which is against the law. He shot at other people which is against the law, said Johnson.

Attorney Fieger says we need to make guns less accessible somehow.

When the bill was put together earlier this year, Section 529 would have allowed military magistrates to determine whether a person was abusive, and would essentially allow the removal of firearms, which Republican lawmakers said would have been without due process.

It has to go through the proper due process, not the discretion of someone, to be able to come and take all of your rights, including Second Amendment rights. Its very dangerous, said Rep. Victoria Spartz, a Republican who represents Indianas 5th District.

Police in Lafayette, Louisiana, were dispatched to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 200 block of Wilkie Street around noon Wednesday and it turns out the homeowner was present when two individuals forced their way inside, KATC-TV reported.

But the duo weren't dealing with a defenseless homeowner. Instead they ran smack into a guy who had armed himself with a gun, the station said.

And unfortunately for the crooks, the homeowner wasted no time putting his gun to use. He fired and hit both intruders, police told KATC.

United Playaz this Saturday will conduct its annual gun buyback program in effort to get weapons off the streets of San Francisco. Its the 10th year the youth organization has held the event.

Advocates against gun violence joined city officials on the steps of City Hall to share stories about how gun violence affected them and how important the event is due to recent gun violence incidents and the rise of persons obtaining ghost guns guns that have no serial numbers that can be bought online and put together at home.

There are a number of important investigations and cases that are underway, and I intend to finish the job, she said in a tweet posted at noon on her personal site.

James, 63, rose to prominence this year after overseeing an independent investigation into sexual harassment accusations against then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Philadelphia, Columbus, Indianapolis, Louisville, Chicago and at least a half-dozen other major U.S. cities have a couple of things in common: all have skyrocketing homicides, and a check by AmmoLand News reveals they all have Democrat-controlled administrations. The question is inevitable:

Have reports about the deadly environments in these and other cities influenced an increasing number of Americans to buy guns for personal protection?

Of course, when you can, protect yourself at all times. With the investigation still ongoing, we can only hope the shooter will be justified having been said he fired out of self-defense.

With the area being rather heavily populated at most times, that is one thing to consider when carrying. What are the other areas your projectiles might strike whether or not you successfully hit the threat? Even when trying to do right, you can still come into much trouble.
