"Not long ago I wrote an article on nullification for a well-known libertarian publication. Nullification is the idea, pioneered by Thomas Jefferson and John C. Calhoun, that an American state has the right to 'nullify' federal legislation that it believes violates the Constitution. As Virginian political thinker Abel Upshur put it, since no common umpire exists between the federal government and the states to render judgments on breaches of the Constitution, each state as a constituent part and co-creator of the Union has to make such determinations for itself." |

"Saying Nevada County doesn't need the controversy, the organizer for the county fairgrounds' annual gun show withdrew his bid Monday to hold another show this winter."
"Larry Urrutia's withdrawal spared an anticipated debate at tonight's meeting before the Fair Board, which was set to decide on a proposed gun show contract. The move also staved off an anticipated debate on firearms and the show, which was proposed for Feb. 8-9." |

"On Dec. 6, 1989, a crazed gunman slaughtered 14 female engineering students in Montreal. The 13th anniversary of this tragedy could not have been better timed. Facing heavy fire over their billion-dollar gun registry fiasco, the federal Liberals shamelessly took cover behind the bodies of the victims." |

"The City Council rescinded its policy requiring background checks on private gun sales at the Tucson Convention Center on Monday, but narrowly kept alive the possibility that a new policy could be approved."
"The vote was 4-3 to drop the existing policy, which has never been enforced because of a lawsuit. The vote also requires the city attorney, city manager and Tucson Police Department to study the issue and what is being done elsewhere to see if they can devise a workable policy." |

"Virtually all of NRA's Women On Target hunts sold out at a record pace in 2002, and with the 2003 schedule already in place, women can begin planning early to book the hunting excursion of their choice. Waterfowl and upland birds are on the schedule as usual, but more big game hunts have been added in response to the demand NRA has had from Women On Target hunters." |

"Since the creation of the National Instant Criminal Background Check, or NICS, administered by the FBI to screen firearm sales, 10,000 people forbidden from owning guns have obtained them despite FBI screenings, according to the Bureau of Alcohol and Firearms."
"The poor quality of criminal records maintained by states is the main reason the NICS system fails to identify individuals prohibited from acquiring guns..."

The Supreme Court on Tuesday shut the door on felons going straight to court to get their gun rights restored, leaving no options for people who claim a conviction shouldn't stop them from being a gun owner.
"I don't think any member of Congress wants to be standing up in favor of restoring gun privileges to convicted felons."

"A Scranton police officer was authorized Monday to withdraw a 6-year-old guilty plea that threatened his career because it involved domestic violence...
"Just a month after Officer Schmidt admitted simple assault in an incident with his girlfriend, a federal law took effect banning anyone who commits domestic violence from having a gun. The law was retroactive."
Conveniently, the "victim" once again lives with him and has changed her story, so he's no longer prosecutable. |

"The American tragedy unfolding - the loss of liberty, human dignity, faith, and compassion for all mankind - will continue to unfold unabated while the traitorous scum in and behind government collects the bounty from those allowed to live. The set-up to take over this country by the federal government is in place. It needs now only to initiate the attack by military troops, both domestic and presumably foreign since foreign troops are already on American soil." |
