After yet another tragic death involving an NFL player over the weekend, there is the appearance of a double standard in media handling of the case, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

A week ago, noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, NBCs Bob Costas was having fits about a so-called gun culture, but what about the culture of big money, flashy cars and alcohol that permeates the NFL? Dallas player Jerry Brown is dead from what appears to be a drunken driving crash involving teammate Josh Brent. Brown is no less dead than Javon Belcher or his girlfriend and Brent faces criminal charges."

A man was shot and killed in busy midtown Manhattan near Columbus Circle on Monday afternoon at the height of the holiday shopping season, according to authorities.

Police say the gunman approached the 31-year-old victim from behind as he walked westbound on 58th Street between Broadway and Seventh Avenue, shooting him in the back of the head outside a Catholic school just before 2 p.m.

The suspect, wearing a dark jacket with a khaki hood, then got into a parked gray or silver Lincoln MKZ. The car, driven by someone else, sped away, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Shell casings for the silver semi-automatic weapon were found at the scene.

Homicides did not rise after we legalized concealed carry, or ended the "assault weapons" ban. To date, holders of concealed carry licenses have not been involved in any more crimes than you'd expect from a group of people law-abiding enough to pass a background check

Generally there is no need to respond to absurdities. Ignore them and they wither away. The temptation is to dismiss Jason Whitlocks comment that the NRA is the new KKK as just such a thing. If you have not been following this, Whitlocks wisdom on firearms policy was invoked by Bob Costas and that has given him a platform to share more of his deeply flawed insights.

Both Whitlock and Terrells meanderings through the delusional are stellar examples not only of the ignorance of liberals in general, but of the success liberals have had in indoctrinating blacks into revisionist history (among many other things). Whitlock is either too ignorant or too much of an ideologue to know that the NRA was a high-profile supporter of blacks Second Amendment rights dating back to before the Civil Rights Movement.

Gloria Fisher is very much a woman on a mission not just to save her son, but also to prevent other young Black men from undergoing his fate.

Fisher has been working nonstop for a half-dozen years now to prove the innocence of her son, Brandon Jackson, who at age 21, was convicted by an all-white jury in New Jersey and sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempted murder. Since then her life has been a horrifying odyssey filled with courtrooms, lawyers and staggering legal fees.

The Jovan Belcher killing/suicide is being used to argue for changes to the Second Amendment. Guns are blamed for people's actions. Cultivating violence in sports is not blamed. Hollywood pandering to audiences with violent movies is not blamed.

Gangster rap is not blamed. Decades of never-ending wars are not blamed. No, but the people's right to defend themselves as a last resort is.

On the eve of the next court date for second-degree murder defendant George Zimmerman, the judge in that case on Monday heard testimony on another defendant's claim to immunity from prosecution under Florida's "stand your ground" law.

Zimmerman says he killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in self-defense Feb. 26 in Sanford, and is expected to request a "stand your ground" hearing in April. Prosecutors allege he profiled, pursued and killed the teen.

On Monday Circuit Judge Debra Nelson heard testimony in the case of James Fraleigh, a Casselberry man who is accused of striking a neighbor with a shovel. Fraleigh says he did so in self-defense after the neighbor, Dylan Wells, attacked him.

But the committee, Change for Trayvon, did not impact the Nov. 6 election, and it's not clear that a lobbying effort in Tallahassee during the upcoming legislative session would be successful.

A statewide task force headed by Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll hammered out a near-final draft of its report last month, and it calls for no change to the law.

It provides immunity to anyone who can show the use of deadly force was in response to a reasonable fear of great bodily injury or death.

One King County man is dead, an auto theft suspect in Pierce County is wounded, and the common denominator is that they tangled with police.

Monday morning at about 7 a.m. a man in Fall City described as homeless in news reports began yelling about the end of the world at a mobile home park. When a deputy showed up, he confronted the man and tried to use a taser on him. The man reportedly somehow got the deputys taser and advanced toward him. Thats when the deputy fired. However, it is not clear whether he had the device when he was shot.

Wash.Times' Emily Miller Downplays Gun Violence With Debunked Statistic

Washington Times senior opinion editor Emily Miller falsely claimed that guns are used to prevent crimes about 2 million times a year, a defensive gun use statistic that has been repeatedly debunked.

Miller's claim comes in response to a statement by NBC sportscaster Bob Costas, who noted that "bad things happen" as a result of firearm use. Miller compared the defensive gun use statistic, which comes from the discredited research of criminologist Gary Kleck, to the 30,000 gun deaths that occur on average annually in the United States to conclude that firearm use is actually a net social benefit.

A veteran Chicago police officer was shot twice early Monday during an attempted robbery while he was off duty and about to remove his young child from his car outside his Southwest Side home, authorities said.

The officer, 34, sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and wrist, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said. The officer's wrist was broken, but the bullet that struck his chest inflicted only superficial damage, he said.

...

The officer fired in self-defense and might have struck his attacker, according to the superintendent.

A bill that would possibly allow guns to be carried on college campuses could stir up discussion in Richmond next year.

Lobbyists say it would keep students safer, but Virginia State Senator Creigh Deeds says it's a decision best left to school leaders.

The State Agency Preemption Bill would allow the General Assembly to set firearm regulations for state agencies, including universities. Right now, boards of visitors at those institutions make the rules.

Trying to get more stringent gun control legislation through the Virginia General Assembly is something of a losing battle, according to at least two state lawmakers representing Northern Virginia.

Alright the election is well and over and Barack Obama is still our President. So what do we do now knowing that the man in charge of the country would like to ban assault weapons and can and may appoint two or more, gun ignorant judges to the U.S. Supreme Court?

The first thing we need to do is to stop complaining. That is not going to get us anywhere. I have heard that the election was rigged, votes were stolen etc. Whether it was or not doesnt amount to a hill of beans because the guy with the D next to his name still resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. We need to get over that fact and move on and get down to business.
