We live in an era of instant gratification, and this can be a real pitfall for the defensive shooter. There is a great temptation to believe that people can quickly become adept at defensive shooting if they have a certain kind of gun, holster, ammo and other accessories. There is a further temptation to look askance at people who go their own way and don't follow whatever the popular trends might be.

As Virginia gun owners have shown their displeasure with Virginia Gov. Ralph Northams proposed attack on their rights in city and county meetings across the Old Dominion, Northam has been forced to answer questions about he and gun control financier Michael Bloombergs gun ban agenda. In doing so, the governor has proclaimed that he supports the Second Amendment and that his gun ban does not violate the U.S. Constitution. In truth, Northams proposed gun ban would violate the Second Amendment as interpreted by the U.S. Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago. |

The right to keep and bear arms is sacrosanct in our republic. We also recognize that self-defense is a natural right and an individual responsibility. It is our position that members of our Armed Forces should not be denied of these constitutional and natural rights simply because he or she finds himself or herself on a military installation.
We also realize that there are unique issues dealt with by military commanders regarding the security of sensitive areas and maintaining good order and discipline. |

The wonder 9 single-stack 9mm pistols made a big splash in the industry. Suddenly 9x19mm power could be managed in a concealable pistol that neared the compactness of a .380. As that design caught on dozens of options flooded the market sometimes providing us with not one, but multiple offerings from our favorite makers. Unfortunately for manufacturers this lead to some stagnation. In a market of durable goods new purchases are more likely to be made because of personal preference, not need. It's up to the manufacturers to either change our preferences or create need. |

Annual firearms purchases in October were up over 10%, with more than 1.1 million total sales, according to multiple reports.
Reports from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting (SAAF) used data from the FBIs National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to estimate the number of guns sold nationally. SAAF said the firearms industry saw enough gains from August through October to make up for lower sales numbers from earlier in the year. |

Lets face it, Second Amendment supporters know what we want in the end: Our right to keep and bear arms respected by the federal government, and by all fifty states, in all American territories, and in the District of Columbia. We know where we are right now in a situation where it is not respected. But how do we get to where we want to be from where we are? The answer, of course, is strategy and tactics. |

It wasnt on Thursday nights agenda, but people in Staunton came out to share their Second Amendment concerns with city leaders at the regularly scheduled city council meeting.
An estimated 300 people filled council chambers and the first floor of City Hall in downtown Staunton on Thursday night far more attendees than your average city council meeting, but significantly lower than the turnout of thousands at specially scheduled 'Second Amendment Sanctuary' hearings for local counties. |

Hern, a Republican from Oklahoma, is seeking to expand those same protections to residents of states that have adopted what are known as Constitutional Carry provisions. These laws allow for gun owners to carry concealed weapons without first applying for a permit. When state law authorizes permitless carry, the federal law requiring a permit in order to carry within school zones cannot be satisfied.
Currently, 40 states plus the District of Columbia have their own rules which go further than federal law and generally prohibit possession of firearms on school grounds, even for concealed carry permit holders, according to the gun-control group Giffords. Two other states leave such decisions up to individual schools. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The supposed quietude of a good mans allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside...Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them... Thomas Paine, I Writings of Thomas Paine at 56 (1894). |
