The House Agriculture, Conservation and Resiliency Subcommittee voted 12-4 to approve the measure (HB 87).

Sponsor Jason Shoaf, R-Port St. Joe, said the proposal wouldnt allow bear hunting.

Women are considered one of the fastest-growing groups of gun owners in the United States, and a House Judiciary subcommittee this week will examine how gun ownership empowers women across America as crime spirals in many areas of the nation.

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance will hold a hearing Wednesday morning, and a trio of female gun experts and instructors will appear to advocate for Americans Second Amendment rights.

Fox News Digital exclusively obtained a preview of testimony from one of the witnesses, Beth Alcazar, a U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) senior training counselor.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit recently upheld New York's requirement that applicants for handgun carry permits demonstrate "good moral character," deeming it consistent with the Second Amendment. But the appeals court enjoined enforcement of the state's demand that applicants submit information about their social media accounts, deeming it inconsistent with the First Amendment as well as the Second.

The 2nd Circuit also delivered a mixed verdict on New York regulations that prohibit even permit holders from carrying guns in specified locations.

Austin Police released new details in the shooting spree that claimed six lives last week, including that suspect Shane James purchased the gun he used from a private sale.

As the law stands, if James went into a gun shop to buy a gun, his history of domestic violence and his outstanding warrant would have been flagged during a background check. But because he obtained his gun during a private gun sale, no background check was legally required.

I then ask the women in the class if the information was helpful. Nope, not at all! is how each woman typically responds. Many of the women also confirm that they, too, have heard the canned answer many times, and that it was no help to them when choosing a firearm. Several even shared their stories about purchasing their first firearm. The scenario was often the same: An individual gave them practically the same advice, but then proceeded to choose a gun for them.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett denied a request from a gun rights group seeking a court order blocking Illinois ban on assault weapons.

Barrett acted Wednesday without commenting or referring the emergency application to the full court.

Law-Abiding Gun Owners of Macon County and two of its leaders asked Barrett for the injunction to stop the law from being enforced while the justices decide what to do with its pending challenge to the state Supreme Courts decision that upheld the ban.

Firearm owners in Illinois will have to wait at least another month before knowing exactly what items they must register with the Illinois State Police under the states assault weapons ban, even as the deadline for submitting those registrations is less than three weeks away.

The General Assemblys Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, or JCAR a bipartisan group that has oversight authority of state agency rulemaking declined again Tuesday to take action on a proposed set of final rules, saying instead it will consider the matter again at its next meeting Jan. 16 in Springfield.

This bill, however, targets semiautomatic firearms of all kinds and configurations, presumptuously banning them as a class. The guns targeted by this bill are primarily owned by law-abiding people who keep them for defensive and other lawful purposes. They are in fact the most popular guns sold in America today. And semiautomatic rifles are actually underrepresented in murders, behind not just other guns but other types of weapons, including knives and even hands and feet.

ATFs Rule threatens that guarantee in a way that Congress never authorized. Article I of the Constitution vests all legislative power in Congress. Federal agencies may exercise only that power that Congress has granted them. And Congress never granted ATF the authority to regulate pistol braces. It is for Congressnot ATFto decide whether to regulate them. Thus, amici urge the Court to reverse the district court, grant Appellants motion a preliminary injunction, and vacate the ATF Rule, the brief continues.

"I have reviewed the Second Amendment many times and you will be relieved to know that it does not have an expiration date, nor is there one on your right to purchase a firearm," Bullard said. "Unfortunately, we have seen where there was an attempt to deny an Oklahoman the right to own a weapon because they were too old. This is age discrimination and unconstitutional to boot. This bill has one single purpose. Protect the liberty and Constitutional freedom of all Oklahomans."

Federal and Ingham County authorities announced more charges Wednesday against three people involved in the deadly shooting.

Prosecutors say 43-year-old Avis Damone Coward left his gun in a car with the 2-year-old boy at a Lansing gas station, with the toddler accidently shooting himself.

There is not a good reason to ever end up where that is the outcome," Jonathan Southwick, Southwick Gun Shop owner said.

Two other Lansing residents are also charged in connection to the incident. U.S. Attorney Mark Totten said at a conference Wednesday, the two tried to hide evidence related to the shooting, including Coward's GMC Yukon that was set on fire.

They were both in their 40s, and had spouses and kids back home. Jacques lived in Wisconsin, and Owens in North Carolina. They were in town for the National Rifle Associations annual meeting. Together, they edited a popular gun-rights news and opinion website called Bearing Arms.

As a blogger, Owens was often combative and blunt. He had a tendency to mock those who disagreed with him; he believed that gun-control advocates were performative and that they ignored inconvenient facts. A few days earlier, hed written that protesters who were planning a die-in near the NRA convention were staging a dramatic hissy fit.

Whenever Bloomberg Businessweek writes about firearms or the Second Amendment, its forced to disclose to readers that its owner is rabidly anti-gun.

No one has spent more of their personal wealth to infringe upon the Second Amendment than former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg. So, when the topic is guns, his mainstream newswire adds a strange disclaimer, which labels the work as propaganda for the boss, not news:

In present form the Proposed Rule fails to account for the clear charge of Congress and, instead, greatly expands ATFs regulatory reachwhile bearing criminal implications, argues the comments. More, the Proposed Rule unlawfully mandates different interpretations in civil and criminal case, foolishly imposes restrictions on personal arms possessed at an FFLs location, fails to consider important sources, unconstitutionally prohibits anonymous comments, and fails to include a federalism summary impact statement. As a result, ATF must either abandon the current rulemaking or, at minimum, undergo significant revision of the Proposed Rule and allow for additional public review and comment.

Because persons protected by the Second Amendment can no longer be denied gun ownership due simply to past drug usea practice inconsistent with this nations historical tradition on firearm regulationany false statement by Mr. Biden concerning his status as having used a controlled substance no longer concerns any fact material to the lawfulness of the sale of a firearm, one of four motions all filed in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware Monday asserts. Quite simply, asking about Mr. Bidens status as a user of a controlled status is constitutionally irrelevant to whether he can be denied his Second Amendment right to gun ownership.

Flagstaff, Arizona, like many communities, sells advertising at a public facility its airport.

The municipality is considering abandoning the extra source of revenue, however, because Rob Wilson, owner of Timberline Firearms and Training, wants to advertise his gun shop on the airports placards.

Flagstaff, as reported by Reason, wants to reject the advertising. It initially tried to cite a new policy on advertising that depicts guns. No such policy actually exists, though.

It quickly became clear that Flagstaffs city government didnt want Wilsons business, or gun-related businesses in general, advertising at its facilities and was scrambling to come up with a justification, according to Reason.

I don't favor either side as I believe that people should have the right to bear some sort of arms to protect themselves but also agree with those who don't completely agree and think there should be some limits to gun laws. Lawmakers are discussing the ability to carry a concealed weapon into buildings that have courtrooms when court is not in session and also taking away firearm liability insurance.

When I Ill speak for myself. I am absolutely in favor of the Second Amendment. And I am also in favor of an assault weapons ban, universal background checks, red flag laws. (Applause.)

Its just reasonable that you might want to know
before someone can buy a lethal weapon if theyve been found by a court to be a danger to themselves or others. You just might want to know. Its just reasonable an assault weapons ban.

Instead of adjusting to the fact that existing state law was unconstitutional, California passed a new law that aims to keep things as close as possible to the way they were before the Bruen ruling.

Something similar happened after the Civil War, when the former slave states passed laws known as the Black Codes. Those statutes aimed to keep the former slaves in a condition as close to slavery as possible.

That led to the federal Civil Rights Act of 1866 and the simultaneous Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which put an end to the Black Codes and protected fundamental rights.

Wyoming U.S. Sen. John Barrasso blocked an effort to revive the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban after Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer attempted to push the measure through by unanimous consent.

Democrats want Washington to ban rifles and pistols because of the way they look, Barrasso said on the Senate floor. To do this, they describe semi automatic rifles as assault rifles. They arent.
