Infiniti prides itself on quality and luxury. Now the car has a less desirable association: The NYPD has told its officers to watch for a backseat compartment that can easily hide a gun. According to an internal police memo obtained by Newsday, officers on Staten Island were alarmed to learn that the 2006 Infiniti G35 is equipped with a hidden backseat storage area. Police supervisors were notified and the department issued a memo to all commands. |

There are many benefits to Ohios new concealed carry reform legislation. The Ohio State Senate voted 21-12 on Tuesday to override Gov. Bob Tafts veto. The Ohio House voted last week 71-21 to override the veto. The override means that in about 90 days the legislatures new law takes effect. The biggest bonus is that local governments can no longer adopt differing, sometimes contradictory, firearm ordinances. We empathize with inner-city communities that are struggling with violent crime and passed gun laws stricter than state law. But there is no statistical data to prove that these laws help reduce violent crime. |

BIZY 6 Ever mess up a chance at a big buck at 10 yards? I mean, have you ever linked together a series of indecisions that maybe cost you the deer of year? Don't tell anyone, but I did it last Saturday afternoon, starting about five minutes before 4 p.m., perched high atop a cliff at Chix Coulee, a rugged and beautiful pasture on the eastern border of our deer lease.
And the distance of 10 yards 30 feet mostly is not a typing mistake.

Little noticed after the first veto-override in more than a quarter-century was Senate passage of House Bill 9, the public records bill, which contains an attempt by the legislature to clarify its intent for giving journalists access to records of concealed handgun license-holders.
On Wednesday, December 13, the Senate Judiciary Committee on Criminal Justice, chaired by Sen. David Goodman, voted HB9 out of committee. The bill cleared the full Senate later that day by a 31-1 vote.
Unfortunately, the fix is likely not going to be enough to prevent anti-gun newspapers from obtaining and publishing the names of license-holders. |

Even if David's Sporting Goods and Self Defense on Second Street in Jersey City did not exist, the concept might spring from any action film fan's imagination.
It's a one-stop shop where you can get your .44 Magnum and nunchucks while your kids check out baseball cards or shoot a Nerf basketball at a hoop next a life-sized cut-out of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
And it's all within a warm, friendly atmosphere where customers can enjoy a cup of coffee or Gatorade while watching reruns of old TV shows such as "Baretta" and "Kojak" and looking at the photos of Clint Eastwood and Bruce Lee.

For Jaspal Rana, life isnt quite about the past, present and the future. You see, every morning has an evening, every evening a night, and every night another morning, he says with a sigh tinged more with relief than despair, now that he roams the streets with three Asian Games gold medals in his pocket. So if you cant do something one morning, life always gives you another chance. All you need to do is work hard, and remain focused.
Having picked up three gold medals for India, Rana is now going about placing himself in the league of gentlemen who refuse to buckle under pressure, and return from near oblivion to give glory yet another shot. Look at Ganguly. He came back, he says. You just have to have the right attitude.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821) |
