Did you know that about 44% of households in the United States own different types of guns? However, despite widespread ownership, there is a sharp fall in gun literacy.
A study by Pew Research Center in 2017 reported that more than half of American citizens know a person injured by a gun. The statistics indicate a significant need for gun education.
In America, guns are a source of fear or pride. They ignite extensive debates in society.
The discussions also elicit a need for understanding gun types and how they work. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of every kind of gun. |

Mr. Reyna might be right that a deserialized gun is just as useful for self-defense as a gun with its serial number intact, but that doesn't suggest that deserialized guns are typically used by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes. A law-abiding citizen who uses a gun for self-defense has no reason to prefer a deserialized gun to a gun with serial number intact. That a law-abiding citizen could use a gun with an obliterated serial number for lawful self-defense isn't evidence that guns with obliterated serial numbers are typically used by law-abiding citizens for lawful self-defense. |

Since the shocking killings at Sandy Hook Elementary School ten years ago, America has had hundreds more mass shootings, a steep increase in gun deaths overall, and an unsettling shift toward political extremism that glorifies firearms. Nevertheless, we continue to rely on a large number of rules that forbid the possession of assault weapons by criminals and prevent juveniles from purchasing pistols. Now, many of these existing rules face the possibility of being eliminated due to a recent Supreme Court decision. As horrible as gun violence is in America, it might be about to grow even worse. |

Turner claims that was exactly what the man was doing pointing his gun at her in a threatening manner.
"In Utah, prosecutors almost always prosecute pointing a weapon at some part of another person's body as aggravated assault, which is a 3rd-degree felony," Vilos said.
Due to the complexity of carrying a weapon, both Vilos and Turner urge everyone to read up on state gun laws in case they are put in a situation like this.
"People don't walk around with the exact terminology of every statute relating to weapons, and that's what makes carrying a firearm for self-defense somewhat of a legally risky situation," Vilos said. |

Robert E. Crimo Jr. was charged with seven counts of reckless conduct, one foreach personkilled in the July Fourth parade attack, Lake County States Attorney Eric Rinehart said.
Prosecutors said Crimo Jr. helped his son, Robert E. Crimo III,purchase the AR-15-style weaponused in the shooting bysponsoringhis sons Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) application.
The shooting suspect was 21 at the time of the attack but 19 when he bought the semiautomatic rifle and ammunition, they said. Authorities have said he sponsored the application despite previous threats by his son to harm himself and loved ones.
Understate law, gun purchasers 18 to 20 generally must have a parent endorse the buy, prosecutors said. |

Dozens of mayors from Americas biggest cities are demanding the U.S. Senate pass more gun control.
We write to urge the Senate to pass during the lame duck session gun safety legislation that has passed the House, the mayors letter states.
An answer to the crime problem plaguing these cities might not be found in Congress. Rather the mayors should look closer to home for solutions. Or better yet, take a good long look in the mirror. |

If you are a criminal trying to break into someones house, do not be surprised when you get shot after being warned to leave. Damon Hammons decided he would go on a little crime spree in Ludlow, KY, and tried breaking into some cars. After he tried to rob the vehicles, he got himself shot when he attempted to break into someones home.
The homeowner told 911, I just shot somebody, And uh, I told him to get out of here. He said I am not scared of you. He started coming after me and stuff. I feared for my life. |

Does the Country belong to the people? One wonders.
Trivially, one answers yes. Thats what the Founders intended, and thats what they sought to achieve in fashioning the Nations Constitution: their Blueprint for a free Constitutional Republic.
But, has a fervent wish and hope of the Founders degenerated into nostalgic sentiment, bespeaking a fleeting, misty bygone reality, dead now and buried? |

Millions of Americans face the prospect of becoming lawbreakers overnight, pending a decision by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) on the status of pistols equipped with stabilizing braces.
Its not an exaggeration; its not hyperbole, said William Kirk, an attorney from the state of Washington. Everyone is deeply concerned about this issue.
Tim Harmsen is one of those gun owners. The Valparaiso, Indiana-based firearms dealer and YouTube creator said that, in his view, the ATF has an ulterior motive. |

The court said that the way that youve got to decide the constitutionality of modern-day gun laws is not by looking at modern policy considerations, but rather looking at historical laws and trying to analogize specific legal traditions from a very different time and place, Ruben said.
But the landscape around domestic violence and firearms has changed dramatically since the late 1700s when the Second Amendment was ratified.
Not only have firearms become much more deadly than the muzzle-loaded guns used in that era, but views about gender roles and domestic violence have developed significantly, Ruben said. |

Congress is trying to pass a bill to allow the federal government to pressure people to give up their Second Amendment rights in the name of suicide prevention. At the same time, newly released documents show multiple federal law enforcement agencies have effectively done this to people without congressional approval.
On Thursday, Gun Owners of America (GOA), put all its evidence onlinethat shows the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has permanently disarmed people. The gun rights group is lobbying on Capitol Hill to stop this practice from being codified. |

An Oregon judge handed guns rights advocates a victory Thursday and placed a new, voter-approved ban on high-capacity magazines that was intended to curtail mass shootings on hold until questions about its constitutionality can be decided.
Harney County Judge Robert Raschio released the written ruling after a lengthy court hearing earlier this week in which attorneys for gun rights groups sought a preliminary injunction to stop the narrowly passed ban on magazines of more than 10 rounds. |

In the woods off a southwest Florida highway, a Republican business executive has built an entertainment complex to bring together like-minded conservatives for everything from speeches by far-right leaders to family barbecues.
A concrete entryway leads visitors through a black-painted hallway filled with quotes from Founding Fathers such as Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. A reception hall is lined with a wall-sized copy of the Bill of Rights. A shooting range adjoins the facility and a large sign reminds visitors of their Second Amendment rights.
There are also inflatable waterslides, a gazebo and picnic benches for kids. |

Just one day after the 10-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, began the hearing with an audio recording of the repeated AR-15 rounds that rang in the halls of Robb Elementary School.
In that decade the decade that passed between these two murders of our children no substantial gun safety legislation was ever signed into law, said Rep. Lucy McBath, D-Georgia. We cannot afford another 10 years.
However, in line with the outcomes of many past federal discussions on the issue, the nearly five-hour hearing resulted in no substantial agreement about the root cause of the problem or its potential solutions. |

United States District Court for the Southern District of California Judge Roger Benitez ruled on Friday that a major part of a California gun bill signed by Governor Gavin Newsom in July should be blocked, invalidating roughly half the bill.
...Under the bill, private citizens, the state attorney general, and local governments are allowed to sue for damages against gun makers and dealers for harm caused by business practices that violate state gun regulations. A major part of the bill included a provision making it legally very risky to challenge the new law in court, essentially making it so that any group or person suing against the law would have to win all their claims, or else risk paying the governments legal fees. |

The bill, which wasintroduced on Dec. 1, would effectively ban semiautomatic rifles and identify them as so-called assault weapons a day after the anniversary of last years Oxford High School shooting. |
