... "But other recent events in Colorado suggest a larger pattern. Recently, rabidly anti-gun Colorado state senator Evie Hudak surrendered her senate seat, rather than face the kind of resistance that defeated her rabidly anti-gun Democrat pals John Morse and Angela Giron--resistance provoked precisely by their anti-gun extremism."
"The parallels are almost spooky. In both cases, an angry, maladjusted loser with a grudge storms in and commits horrid violations of the rights of others, with ambitions to dramatically expand on that evil, but instead meets unexpectedly stiff resistance, from unexpectedly resolute and courageous would-be victims, and withdraws from the fight in the most cowardly way possible." ... |

... "One of the main arguments for easy access to guns, especially the powerful kind, is self-defense. Since an armed criminal element exists and is bent on wreaking havoc on normal, law-abiding citizens, guns are necessary for our own protection. No amount of gun control is going to stop a determined criminal, the argument goes, so we need guns to deter crime and, more importantly, to put a stop to crime when it occurs."

"John Cooke holds two 30-round magazines in his hands. In one hand is a 30-round magazine purchased before July 1st, when Colorados new gun laws took effect and banned purchases of magazines larger than 15-rounds. In his other hand is a 30-round magazine that 'maybe' ... was purchased after the deadline. Two magazines, virtually identical in every aspect, except one is legal and the other is not. Cooke, who serves as Sheriff of Colorados Weld County, says thats exactly his point. His deputies cannot enforce the law if the law is so vague as to make it practically impossible to distinguish whats legal from what is illegal. Therefore, Cooke, along with all but seven of Colorados 62 elected Sheriffs, are suing to block the law." ... |

"Florida is considering a bill, HB 89, that would protect citizens who defensively display firearms or who fire warning shots, from being victimized by the law for the act of defending themselves. The genesis of the law is the fact that most people are able to defend themselves by merely showing the attacker that they are armed. This defuses the situation in the vast majority of cases: people do not want to be shot. QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so. Indeed I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order. Adolf Hitler, April 11, 1942.
