It is mid-2003 and I am in the middle of a war zone. We are running full-tilt, midway through our fourth post-Sept. 11 combat tour. To date I have faithfully lugged around some form of semi-auto sniper rifle, regardless of whether I needed to shoot 1,000 meters away or across a room. But, things are different on this night. The mission calls for more stealth than is normally required (or possible) by a large body of assault troops in a fast-moving and hard-hitting environment. |

Balancing security and accessibility can be a tightrope act. Items like the Concealment Cover mirror from Tactical Walls allow you to hide gear in plain sight. I would wager that for the first 175 years (or so) of our countrys existence, it was perfectly normal to find a longarm of some sort within easy reach inside the average American home. Most gun owners hung their arms on walls or sat them behind doors without any real efforts made to conceal them. After all, the idea was that if you needed a long gun, you needed it in a hurry.

Those of the lasting memories of many Keystone State sportsmen, especially if they were around during pheasant hunting's heyday, is pursuing ringnecks on a crisp autumn morning. Sadly, those memories may be in danger of fading into history as not only are there very few wild birds around anymore, the Pennsylvania Game Commission's longstanding pheasant stocking program has now taken a serious hit as a result of the agency's ongoing struggles to make ends meet without a much-needed license fee increase. |

As President Obamas second term comes to a close, he has had to address the country 16 times in regards to a mass shooting. Each time he has shared words of sympathy and condolence to loved ones. And each time he has pushed gun control in order to trample on Americans Second Amendment rights. However, during Obamas time in the White House, he has made little federal progress towards the common-sense gun laws that he desires. |

As President-elect Donald Trump fills his Cabinet, many of his supporters hope that he'll make good on his campaign promises. Chief among those, for many Mississippians, is Gun Rights. Trump campaigned as a staunch gun-rights advocate. At a recent gun show in Philadelphia, Correspondent Matt Kessler talks with Mississippians who want more firearms freedoms, and some who want stronger screening. |

King 810's Chicago show was cancelled earlier this month due to the band's excessive use of violent imagery, and this weekend the band's show in Detroit was cancelled because the band couldn't bring their guns into the show. Why King 810 needs to bring guns into a show is beyond me, considering it adds absolutely nothing to the performance except maybe some added visuals as to King 810's super pro-gun image. |

Tamir Rice was one of the highest-profile examples of a person carrying a fake weapon who was gunned down by cops, but as the Washington Post reports in an exclusive, he was far from the only one. Those statistics, per the Post's internal database of US fatal police shootings, show that 43 people with "ultra-real-looking pellet guns, toy weapons, and non-functioning replicas" were killed in 2016, as well as 43 people in 2015. Of those killed, 54 were white, while 81 were male. |

For an hour and a half after firing a gun inside the high school where he worked, a Bay County Sheriff's deputy played dumb.
Going a step further, he tried to conceal his deed from investigators by taking the bullet that had struck a teacher in the neck and getting rid of it.
This information is contained in reports written by Michigan State Police troopers who investigated the November incident that took place inside the Bay City Western High School and Middle School building at 500 W. Midland Road in Auburn.
The reports state Deputy Adam J. Brown, the school's resource officer, at about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, fired a .38-caliber Sig Sauer pistol while in a classroom.

With Georgia lawmakers planning another try at a law allowing guns on public college campuses, a University of North Georgia professor urges opponents to rally against the effort. Opposition and concerns over safety led Gov. Nathan Deal to veto campus carry earlier this year, but House Speaker David Ralston says a revised bill may be coming in January. In a guest column, professor Matthew Boedy urges opponents to again speak out against firearms on campus. |
