The deputy said during the radio transmission that he was going to kill himself at the high school, prompting officers to rush to his location in an attempt to stop him.

Tomorrow will be a new day in America. Those are the words of Democrat congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, on the night of the recent midterm elections in which her party seized control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
For gun owners and freedom-loving Americans everywhere, Pelosis new day could become a dark nightmare. In fact, on that same election night, Pelosi listed gun safety legislation among the priorities she expected the new Democrat majority in the House to aggressively pursue. |

Detective Sgt. Robert Moody said the seller and Trent met at Magnolia and Anthony Streets around 8 p.m. Monday. At one point Trent pulled out a handgun and struck the seller over the head. The seller then pulled out a knife and stabbed Trent. The Dearborn Heights man then remained at the scene and called 911. Moody said it appears Trent never intended to purchase the video game console and the seller claimed he stabbed Trent in self-defense.
It sounds like it turned into a robbery, Moody said. There was some bickering over the money. |

After reviewing all of the evidence in this case, the grand jury determined that insufficient probable cause existed to support the filing of criminal charges against Kettlewood and returned a "no bill," Iarocci said.
"It appears the primary basis for the grand jury's decision is that Mr. Kettlewood's use of deadly force by shooting Mr. Benson was justifiable since he exhibited a bona fide belief and had reasonable grounds to believe, even if mistaken, that he was in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm and his only means of escape was by taking the life of Mr. Benson," Iarocci said in the release. |

Gun issues havent always been important to Dr. Erik Wallace.
As a young kid growing up in Northern California, Wallace discovered his dads handgun in a dresser drawer but was scared of what his dad would do if he touched it. He had a BB gun when he was young but preferred to play baseball, and has never been interested in hunting.
But his relationship with guns completely changed seven years ago when one of his patients threatened to kill him. |

Barbara Barroso couldn't hide her excitement as she stepped up to her lane wearing goggles and ear protectors: it was her first time shooting her brand-new 12-gauge Armsan pump-action shotgun.
The 39-year-old Brazilian lawyer had to go through six months of costly bureaucracy to get her hands on her firearm after buying it in a licensed gun shop in Rio de Janeiro.
She didn't however have to go through the usual compulsory psychology test and gun training -- having done those when she bought the two Glock pistols she already owns. |

Gov. John Kasich has vetoed a pro-gun bill, HB228, that would have changed the way self-defense cases play out in court, shifting the burden from the defense to the prosecution. The legislation is whats left of the Stand Your Ground bill after lawmakers took out the repeal of the "duty to retreat" provision.
...
The Ohio House and Senate are planning to return to the Statehouse after Christmas for what could be potential votes to override Kasich's vetoes. |

Outgoing Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich says hes a Second Amendment guy, but hes vetoing the latest gun bill, which included permitting off-duty officers to carry concealed firearms and placing tougher punishments of illegal straw purchasers, because a provision would have shifted the burden of proof in self-defense shootings. As of now, in Ohio, the shooter has to prove he or she legally acted in self-defense. Pro-gun rights groups say Ohio is the only state in the country that follows this protocol in these incidents. The Columbus Dispatchadded that Kasich was irritated that the legislature couldnt come up with bipartisan red flag laws, which the governor said was scuttled over rotten, stinking politics. |

This placed Vasquez in a conundrum. The simple fact was that the only source for such evidence of his reasonable fear of deadly force harm at the hands of Walker (if any such existed) was Vasquez himself. To get that source before the jury would mean taking the witness stand, and testifying to that fear. It would also mean subjecting himself to cross-examination and impeachment. So greatly did Vasquez not want to expose himself to cross and impeachment that he adamantly refused to testify.
Denied the self-defense jury instruction, Vasquez was convicted of murder by the jury and sentenced to 30 years. |

After facing a murder charge for three years, 34-year-old George Jacob Shine was found not guilty by reason of self-defense in general sessions court at the Sumter County Judicial Center Monday.
Shine, a Florence native, was on trial for the fatal shooting death of Joseph Frey, 70, who was reportedly shot twice during an argument at a residence off Narrow Paved Road on Nov. 17, 2015.
While responding to an emergency call, a deputy from the Sumter County Sheriffs Office spoke to Shine and his brother, Travis Jones, who said Shine had been shot in the chest by Frey.
Shine also said he shot Frey twice with a rifle after the firearm was first used by Frey to shoot him, according to an incident report. |

The NHFC was very critical of the 6-4 vote to restore the gun ban.
By banning guns in Representatives Hall, state representatives, many of whom are female and carry guns for self-defense against larger, stronger assailants will be disarmed and easy prey when they walk from remote parking garages to the State House, Rice said. The party that claims to support women is leaving women defenseless. |

A semi-satirical look at what is essentially a toy in the celebration of liberty Now that Trump has completed the paperwork on the meaningless gesture of the bump stock ban, many are begging off the need for these devices (along with fingers, rubber bands and belt loops).
As Michael Corleone famously said, Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in.
The original intent was to detail the egregious bump stock surrender by the Trump administration. Thankfully, Tammy Rucker detailed the issues of this step onto the slippery slope. For the sake of balance, we thought we would take a satirical look at the issue. This will be a bit of resistance for the cause of Liberty with a soupon of levity. |

The bump-stock ban rule change has now been signed and is set to take effect in around 90 days. There were over 66,000 comments in opposition to the ban.
Virginia Citizens Defense League has opposed any bump-stock bans from the moment President Trump floated the idea after the Las Vegas massacre. (VCDL beat back bump-stock-ban bills in the General Assembly earlier this year, too.)
To that effect, Virginia Citizens Defense League has joined Gun Owners of America (GOA) in a lawsuit to overturn BATFE's bump-stock ban regulation! |
