If ones desire is to be a plinker, by which I mean someone who occasionally goes to the range to pop off a few rounds for enjoyment and relaxation, then safety is the main concern. However, if a person wants to carry a gun for the protection of self or others then you are going to have to do what I call an honest assessment about yourself. That requires asking yourself some serious questions and determining by your bluntly honest answers whether or not you should be a gun toter. |

The Assembly held a marathon voting session late Monday, and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin stepped away from the rostrum to issue a press release. The statement was necessary because the Governors proposed gun bill package, which has been front and center for the last two weeks, seemingly didnt have support and had become a skeleton of its original self. Only one of the major bills from the package, A.3686, advanced in the Assembly. This legislation requires non-residents to register their firearms when moving into the state. |

But Brown also is quite mistaken about the reality of defensive uses of firearms. Americansincluding those residing in Chicagoroutinely use their guns to defend themselves and others from crime, rendering themselves and their communities safer from violence.
Almost every major study on the issue has found that Americans use their firearms in self-defense between 500,000 and 3 million times annually, according to a 2013 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. |

The eight years that have passed since Curtis Reeves shot and killed Chad Oulson in a Pasco County movie theater can also be measured this way:
One pandemic, three judges, 10 days for a stand-your-ground hearing, a number of prosecutors, countless hearings and more than 100 witness depositions. The rest has been five foiled trial dates and delays that have frustrated Oulsons family and baffled observers.

Since America has chosen violence, todays topic is self-destruction, were headed for self-destruction.
According to a recent Forbes article that bullet points this years gun-related statistics, last month was the gun industrys third-busiest November since record-keeping began in the late 1990s. In addition, Black Friday was the industrys most active day, based on FBI reports of executing more than 187,000 background checks.
On Dec. 3, a Colorado county sheriffs office was under fire for tweeting a picture of a gentleman dressed as Santa Claus applying for a concealed handgun permit while boasting of the high number of applications processed. |

Right. Thats why shes trying to enact a law that will ultimately be enforced with guns and looking for Republican cosponsors who are long on law and order rhetoric and short on realizing whats really going on here. As with all serial gun-grabbers, Slotkin is exploiting headline news to try for an incremental gain. Once that is out of the way, shell move on to her next objective and then the next. If gun owners dont fight her every step of the way, they might as well clear the field to the end zone, because thats where shes heading. |

Montgomery County could become the next safe haven for Second Amendment rights in the state.
During Tuesday's regular meeting, local resident Jerald Palmquist called on the county's board of supervisors to declare the county a Second Amendment sanctuary. Palmquist based his request from a similar resolution passed in Page County back in October. Page County was the 24th county in Iowa to approve a resolution that would affirm the county's commitment to upholding citizen's rights to keep and bear arms. |

The Justice Department says the Missouri state crime lab, operated by the Highway Patrol, also is refusing to process evidence that would help federal firearms prosecutions.
The Missouri Information and Analysis Center, also under the Highway Patrol, no longer cooperates with federal agencies investigating federal firearms offenses. And the Highway Patrol, along with many other agencies, have suspended joint efforts to enforce federal firearms laws.
The Justice Department's brief comes in an ongoing lawsuit challenging the state gun law, filed by St. Louis City, St. Louis County and Jackson County.
A Cole County court's decision upholding the law is being appealed to the Missouri Supreme Court. |

Indiana Republican lawmakers are working to reintroduce legislation that would allow many Hoosiers to carry handguns without a permit.
Several lawmakers in both the Indiana House and Senate are writing bills.
Known as constitutional carry or permitless carry, its a change to Indiana law some Republican legislators have been working on for years.
Its still to me, its an infringement of our constitutional rights to mandate, require somebody to jump through hoops, go get fingerprinted, pay a fee you still have to pay to get your fingerprints done wait God only knows how long, said State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour), one of the lawmakers planning to introduce this type of bill. |

These six gun owners, who have more than 100 years of blameless gun use and ownership between them, are well, you can imagine the emotions baffled, confused, angry is just the start. |

The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued a stay Tuesday which prevents the enforcement of Californias large-capacity magazine ban while an appeal is made to the Supreme Court.
Breitbart News reported that the Ninth Circuit on November 30 reversed a lower court ruling, siding with California Attorney General Rob Bonta and allowing the ban on possession of large-capacity magazines.
Breitbart News noted that District Court Judge Roger Benitez had ruled against the ban on July 3, 2017, and his ruling was upheld by a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit a year later, on July 17, 2018. |

The Heller Court said
In sum, we hold that the Districts ban on handgun possession in the home violates the Second Amendment, as does its prohibition against rendering any lawful firearm in the home operable for the purpose of immediate self-defense.
Does the New Jersey Senate bill square with the Heller holding? And, if it doesnt, what is the impetus for the New Jersey Legislature drafting the thing at all?
Lets take a closer look at the bill as written. |
