A national gun owners advocacy group has vowed to appeal a federal judges ruling that Massachusetts assault weapons ban is constitutional. Bay State resident Joseph Capen and the National Association for Gun Rights, a nonprofit advocacy group, challenged the law banning the sale and possession of assault weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines, arguing that it burdens their constitutional right to keep and bear arms under the Second and Fourteenth Amendments. |

Since the U.S. Supreme Court decided New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen in 2022, the lower courts have been either trying to apply, or to resist, its directive to decide the validity of restrictions on the basis of the text of the Second Amendment and historical analogues from the time of the Founding. According to the ruling, an activity is presumed to be protected if it involves keeping and bearing arms by the people. The burden is then on the government to find historical precedents to show that a restriction is part of the nations history and tradition. |

Hunters and shooters across North America love their 30-caliber cartridges. With the popularization of the 30-06 Springfield, the .308 diameter bullet became synonymous with stopping power and long range precision.
However, hunters and shooters wanted more power, muzzle velocity, and a flatter trajectory and so, the magnum craze began. |

A federal district court judge in California did not spare anyones sensitivities when he issued a preliminary injunction against Californias sensitive places law, known as SB 2, calling the law sweeping, repugnant to the Second Amendment, and openly defiant of the Supreme Court.
U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney, a George W. Bush appointee, pulled no punches in his 43-page ruling, granting a preliminary injunction and handing gun rights groups including the Second Amendment Foundation, a significant victory. |

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is putting together legislation to require the U.S. military to adhere to state-level red and yellow flag laws for troops.
A red flag law allows family, friends, and others, to seek a court order to have guns removed from someone they view as a danger to himself or others. A yellow flag law is more narrow, allowing law enforcement to seek the court order for firearm removal.

It would be nice if I were able to report that the people who run our sprawling federal government are taking seriously their oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, but, unfortunately, I can write no such thing. Once upon a time, American presidents established offices to defend Americans constitutional rights. Nowadays, they do the opposite. |

Waterfowl hunters across Southwest Washington have been having a fairly typical year at local refuges and wildlife areas, and with the recent heavy rains a lot of northern birds have moved down. Depending on the weather through the last month of the hunting season, most hunters can expect the good shooting to continue. |

New Mexico Democratic Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham held a recent press conference to praise herself for implementing dubious gun control measures, the National Shooting Sports Foundation reported. I wont rest until we dont have to talk about (gun violence) as an epidemic and a public health emergency, the governor said. If a prominent politician declares an epidemic and imposes edicts and orders to enforce them, its fair to ask, Wheres the science? |
