"Returning to such a time when innocent people could defend their own life without interference from the police or anti-gun do-gooders only concerned with filing some emotional compulsion to confiscate guns would be a step backwards for criminals and therefore a step forward for everyone else."

"A return to the so called wild-west should be welcomed by anyone not committed to furthering the safety and well being of robbers, rapists and murderers."

What may come as surprise to sexist anti-gun extremists is that the poll's findings also found that women more likely than men to use guns for protection."

"In 29 states, a person with a serious mental illness can purchase a gun from a licensed dealer."

"Thats ridiculous. Guns and schizophrenia dont mix." ...

"'Its just not fair,' he said. 'On the one hand, we want there to be very limited access to guns. But here youre singling out people because of a medical condition '"

"Yeah. Thats the point. Does he really believe its fair to hand a weapon to a suicidal person? Thats some pretty rough medicine."

-------
Yeah, because a suicidal person will never find another way to off him or herself. And because God forbid someone who has received help from a mental health professional be "allowed" to defend themselves against attack.

"In the days since New York City police officer Dillon Stewart was gunned down, Mayor Michael Bloomberg has sounded a perfectly rational call for tougher federal gun laws. The city has rigorous laws of its own but is plagued by guns that flood in from states where laws are more porous. 'We've got to stop this craziness,' Bloomberg said. Tragically, his entreaty will fall on deaf ears in Washington."

"'This is a great victory for the citizens of New York City,' said Dennis Henigan, director of the Brady Center's Legal Action Project. 'The gun industry has long sought to avoid accountability for supplying the highly-profitable underground market. Instead, it will now face the harsh light of justice.'"

-------
Weinstein has a long and well-documented bias against the Second Amendment and gun ownership. This is not surprising.

"A high level of emotion is only natural in the wake of a crime as horrible as the murder of Police Officer Dillon Stewart, but there's no reason to throw all logic out the window. Yet that's what is entailed in the calls resounding through the city for tougher gun laws in the wake of the fatal shooting. A news article in yesterday's Daily News bemoans the 'languishing' in Congress of bills to ban .50 caliber sniper rifles, 'military-style assault weapons,' and 'guns that fire bullets that penetrate soft body armor.' Yet Stewart wasn't killed with a .50 caliber sniper rifle or a 'military-style assault weapon.' And the bullet that killed him didn't 'penetrate' his body armor - it went through the arm hole."

"The March night Newington police officer Ciara McDermott went to post bail for state trooper Victor Diaz after his arrest by Cromwell police, she didnt know that the .40-caliber Glock handgun stowed in his state police cruiser would be the gun hed use to shoot her to death eight months later."

"Police say Diaz, 37, of Windsor, ambushed the 30-year-old McDermott at her West Hartford home Nov. 21. He used the Glock to shoot her twice in the chest and once in the head, before killing himself with the same gun in an upstairs bedroom of her home. "To me - if our lawmakers want to make a gun law - it should be that in order for someone to buy a gun, they should show that they have taken a shooting safety course."

"If the parents have a gun, any child of at least 12 should take the same course. In states where they have made it legal for any law-abiding citizen over the age of 21 to carry a concealed weapon, violent crime has decreased by at least 30 percent, based on what I have read."

"I will end with this note: 'Gun control is being able to hit your target.'"

Fatal attraction star Michael Douglas is planning to lobby the US government for tighter gun control, because he's still haunted by rocker John Lennon's 1980 shooting death.

Lennon was murdered outside his New York City apartment building by Mark Chapman, and the event is one of the major reasons why Douglas wants to use his position as a United Nations Messenger of Peace to lobby for disarmament.

He says: "I was there the night John Lennon was shot, three blocks away. It left a lasting impression on me.

"It motivated me to do whatever I could to lobby for small-arms control."

"'Bondage' pants -- pants with several straps that hook from each back pocket to the opposite pant leg -- were banned about a month ago. The school's dress code committee decided that students shouldn't wear any strap that could be unsafe, whether made from chain or fabric, said associate principal Jeff Sampson."

"Although the straps haven't caused any injuries at the school, Sampson said they could possibly hook students onto something or someone and would be especially dangerous around shop class equipment."

"Junior Ed Chick and his friends said the straps would rip off the pants once caught and most are too high off the ground for others to trip over."

So, the situation is that Ms. French held herself out as doing a business feature, then does a biased anti-gun piece using the company, omits information that would be consistent with a business feature, and the report contained many factual inaccuracies.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves. Winston Churchill
