In a small warehouse in Hortonville about 20 minutes outside Appleton, BenShot employees, led by a father and son duo, are loading bullets into shot glasses. My dad and I came up with the idea about three years ago, and it combines things we like -- whiskey and guns, Ben Wolfgram said. The BenShot bosses say they love hiring veterans and sell their glasses on 30 military bases worldwide.

The coach gunderiving from the days of horse-drawn, four-wheeled carriagesreceived a new lease on life with the popularity of cowboy-action shooting. Most of the guns you see working their way through a shotgun stage are side-by-side doubles, typically with short barrels, and sometimes with exposed hammers. In this NRA Gun of the Week video, Mark Keefe takes a look at a shotgun ideally suited for action shooting: CZ USA's Sharp-Tail Coach, a 3"-chambered CZ 12-ga. For more, visit cz-usa.com. |

In the museum we have a small but interesting collection of guns that include guns of the Civil War, muzzle-loading guns from the early 1800s, guns from World War II and sporting guns. I think the most interesting gun we have is a sporting gun named the Harder triple barrel rotating rifle. It is a combination rifle consisting of two smooth bore barrels and one rifled barrel. There is an advantage to having a single firearm that can fire cartridges designed for both rifled and smooth bore barrels. |

There are some excellent reasons for hunting late season deer as a coordinated team. Not the least among these is that with multiple hunters in the group there is a better chance of at least one tagging a deer. Going by the odds, this alone is a good accomplishment. And if the deer is a buck, all the better. A sense of accomplishment is essential to a coordinated team deer hunt. This kind of a hunt is a fairly well-detailed plan. Isnt it great when a plan comes together?

A proposed law calling for the addition of a social media search component to law enforcement background checks for pistol permits appears to be a misfire for local gun owners. State Senator Kevin Parkers proposed bill would allow law enforcement to search social media before approving a handgun license or rectifying one. The bill would change New Yorks gun laws to allow authorities to search social media for potential red flags before approving a handgun license.

In just the past six months, there have been at least three instances in the United States of fatal police shootings of black people who witnesses said were trying to interrupt an active shooting. In each episode, the putative good guy with a gun was a lawfully armed black man whom officers mistook for the gunman, raising questions about police perceptions of black gun owners. |

On Tuesday, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors will discuss the idea of signing a letter to ask the owner of the Contra Costa Event Park, the 23rd District Agricultural Association, to support a policy of prohibiting the possession and sale of firearms on the Fairgrounds in the City of Antioch. Most recently, Antioch held a gun show in September and they have another show scheduled for Dec. 15-16 by Mountain Air Productions. |
