Sean Kennedy's father says the 22-year-old had been drinking at a party Sunday night when he drove to the wrong Colorado Springs home, pounded on the back door and was fatally shot.
Police said Monday they plan to give the case to the district attorney's office to decide whether the homeowner will be protected under Colorado's "Make My Day" law, which allows people to use deadly force in self-defense in their homes. |

Police are interviewing witnesses and sorting out the facts of this weekend's deadly shooting at James' club, to see if he committed a crime this time.
They want to determine if Reggie James, the owner of Reggie's, killed Cornell Mack, 21, to protect himself.
According to deputies, James threw Mack out of the club earlier that night. They said Mack returned, pointed a gun at James and that's when James shot and killed him.
"Shot my brother dead in the head. I saw everything," said Roshone Simon, 26, Mack's brother. |

Homicide detectives say a homeowner and robber are both dead after an attempted home invasion.
Police say John Clement broke into Ernest Miller's house on the 2600 block of Oakdale St. around 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
Detectives said that Miller, 41, fired his gun in self defense.
Somehow during the robbery both the robber and victim were shot and killed.
Both Miller and Clement were pronounced at the scene. It is unclear if the two knew each other.
Miller was a retired Philadelphia police officer. |

Police say a 22-year-old man was shot to death by a Colorado Springs resident while trying to break in to the resident's home.
Officers say they responded to a report of a burglary in process at the home at 9:50 p.m. Sunday.
Whey they arrived, they discovered a man in the backyard suffering from a gunshot wound; efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Authorities say an investigation revealed the man was trying to forcibly enter the house through the back door when he was confronted and shot at least once by a resident of the home.
Police say two other people were in the home when the shooting occurred, and no previous relationship between the man and the home's residents has been found. |

What has prevented this type of law being passed in the U.S.? The National Rifle Association and our Second Amendment. I don't always agree with everything the NRA advocates, but this organization is the only thing standing between strict gun control and the law-abiding citizen in the U.S.
Every person who owns a gun and wants to keep it should belong to the NRA. I said "should"; it is a "must" situation.
Our new president-elect has a long record of supporting strict gun laws. His new Cabinet appointments include many advocates of strict gun laws. The United Nations wants international gun control. Do you want other countries eliminating our Second Amendment, our constitutional right to bear arms? |

I thought it amazing that you recently published the letter about Bill of Rights Day. This nation is currently facing many problems, and I would suggest one simple, sweeping, answer to those problems: repeal the Bill of Rights.
Let me start with one of my favorites: consider the Second Amendment. The NRA often argues that any laws restricting a citizen's right to bear arms are unconstitutional, and they are correct. So we remove that from the Constitution. Guns are made illegal. The federal government then can take control of all factories, shut down all gun shops, firing ranges, and conventions, and conduct house by house searches to seize all firearms. Crime would plummet. |

Larry Harr, a Stuttgart resident and Chairman of Committee for U.S. Constitution for 20 years, will be lobbying at the State Capitol in Little Rock three times a week in the upcoming 2009 legislative session for the passage of a "Castle Doctrine" law. It would enable citizens to use force in any place that included deadly force without fear of being prosecuted when they felt like they were being attacked.
Harr said the law he is proposing for Arkansas should model after the Florida "Castle Doctrine" law that took effect Oct. 1, 2005. He attempted to lobby for a similar bill in the 2007 legislative session, but it was not passed. |

This is, for goodness sake, a JOKE. It's not a Nokia product. It looks like a gun with a phone in the handle. It isn't real!
The image comes from a site called "military jokes, military humour" (except, of course, being an American site, they can't spell "humour") and it is entirely a product of the Photoshop industry.
The caption says "The First and Second Amendment Combined" - a reference, of course, to the right to arm bears, and freedom of libel. Or perhaps, a reference to the right to bear speech, or freedom of arms...?
Something like that...

A small group of dedicated Ron Paul supporters have successfully wrestled control of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County (RPLAC) in what may begin the beginning of steering the GOP back to its original goals of limited constitutional government, fiscal responsibility, sound monetary policy, Second Amendment rights, strong national defense, a non-interventionist foreign policy, personal freedom, and opposition to illegal immigration. |

``I am sure there is going to be a lot of gun legislation coming down the road,' said Roger Keller, president of Michigan Coalition for the Return of Constitutional Government, which fought against the gun ban in the Hillsdale County courthouse.
``Everybody is a little nervous,' said Jerry Sweeney Sr., who owns Guns Mi Thing, 4119 Wolf Lake Road, a Grass Lake gunsmith shop.
He said it is difficult to get semiautomatic rifles because his suppliers are exhausted.
The price of an AK-47 used to range from $100 to $200. Now, they are selling for $400 or $500 because the demand is high, said Sweeney, who offers training required to obtain a concealed weapons permit.
More people are undergoing the training, he said. |

I am a Christian. . . From time to time, I am accused of seeking to impose a theocratic state upon my fellow citizens, mostly because I have the temerity to mention God and the Founders' Republic in the same sentence.
As a Christian, some of my fellow Three Percenters who are agnostic libertarians suspect my motives and constantly question me as to what sort of "restoration end game" I see at the end of our struggle. Some fear, as with most revolutions, that the victors will fall to fighting amongst themselves over the character of the Restoration. This is possible, I suppose, but it need not be. In the unlikely event that I survive to see it, this is the Restoration I would battle toward:

With the exception of those unfortunate residents of a few nanny-states, citizens of the U.S. always have been able to gift, buy, sell and trade firearms without the interference of government.
But if people like Duluths Joan Peterson, a member of the national board of trustees of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (and the author of the Dec. 9 Local View commentary, Gun show loophole, still open in Minnesota, must be closed) are able to enact their legislative agenda, this liberty will be extinguished. The sad part is that if they are successful, crime rates would be unaffected. But that doesnt stop the prohibitionists from scaring people with exaggerated stories.

Officer deaths this year totaled 140, compared to 181 in 2007.
Gunfire deaths dropped to 41 officers this year, compared to 68 in 2007. The 2008 number represented the lowest total since 1956 - when there were 35 - and was far below the peak of 156 officers killed by gunfire in 1973.
Traffic-related deaths also declined, with 71 officers killed this year, compared to 83 in 2007. It was the 11th consecutive year that more officers were killed in traffic incidents than from any other cause.
More than 61 percent of this year's fatalities involved accidents and 39 percent resulted from criminal acts.

The debate on assault weapons and gun shows is fairly well known. Basically those who oppose the assault weapon ban and closing the gun show loophole believe the laws to be aribtrary and ineffective and overly burdensom, while those who support them believe them to be in the best interest of public Tiahrt amendment falls along similar lines of reasoning.
If Obama forges ahead on these issues and rams through Congress a comprehensive gun control bill, it's likely he'll lose Montana in 2012 and jeopardise the standing of the state's Democrats in a region the Democrats need to hold if they want to maintain their electoral advantages.

With Barack Obama anxious to take office, the public eager for fresh leadership, and the economy demanding urgent attention, the Senate is likely to defer to the president-elect and swiftly approve his Cabinet nominees, congressional aides and political analysts say.
But there will be one prominent exception: The confirmation hearing for Eric Holder, Obama's pick for attorney general, promises to be bruising, with Republicans determined to explore Holder's role in controversial pardons under President Clinton, his views on gun rights, and his involvement in the case of Elian Gonzalez, the 6-year-old Cuban boy returned to his homeland by Clinton's Justice Department. |

To get mandatory prison time for possession of a firearm, an offender once had to commit a crime with the gun, like an armed robbery.
Not anymore.
Mere illegal possession now means time behind bars for all but a few the result of a bill signed into law in January.
The changes to the gun laws were folded into bills introduced last year to combat gang violence.
The Home News Tribune wrote about the new gun law in July, focusing on the case of a 20-year-old Edison man, Ryan Narciso, who was facing three years of hard prison time after being found with a pellet gun during a traffic stop. He was sentenced before the new directive was issued and avoided prison time.

MUMBAI: The number of gun licences granted by the Mumbai police more than doubled from 2006 to 2007. In 2006, the police issued 172 licences, and in the following year, the number shot up to 416. The jump was despite the fact that there was no significant increase in the number of applications for arms licences.
The city police rejected almost two-thirds of the applications for arms licences in the five years from 2003 to 2007. During this period, 3,712 applications were received, but only 1,393 were approved. Most were rejected because they did not cite adequate reasons to justify the need for a weapon. The rejection of an arms licence application can be legally challenged.

Is the reason that fewer Cops are being shot and killed, is that more citizens are carrying concealed weapons? You bet it is!
An armed society is not only a polite society, it is a safe society.
The Guns Owners' Rules of Speech:
1) There is no such thing as an "assault rifle". GI's use automatic rifles, the rest of us are relegated to SPORT UTILITY RIFLES, other known as SUR's.
2) The only people who carry heat are those with a bitch (as in a female dog) in their arms that want to be laid. Gun owners never, ever pack heat; they "carry concealed".
When we use inappropriate lexicon, we are only aiding and abetting the anti's in the same manner as "loose lips sink ships". |

A Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy pulled out a gun outside a local nightclub, pointed it at a security guard and other customers and threatened to "bust a cap" in them, an arrest report said.
Deputy Oscar Maturana, who was off duty, was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday after he waved his gun, yelled threats and tried to flee the scene west of Lake Worth, with three other men, according to a Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit. He is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail, where a judge set bail at $100,000, jail records show.
Maturana was also placed on administrative leave while the agency's Internal Affairs unit conducts its investigation, said Col. Mike Gauger, director of law enforcement operations. |

Barack Obama will be in charge of the biggest domestic and international spying operation in history. Its prime engine is the National Security Agency (NSA) facility at Fort Meade, Maryland, about 10 miles northeast of Washington, D.C.
A brief glimpse of its capacity was provided on October 26 by The Baltimore Sun's national security correspondent, David Wood: "The NSA's colossal Cray supercomputer, code-named the 'Black Widow,' scans millions of domestic and international phone calls and e-mails every hour. . . . The Black Widow, performing hundreds of trillions of calculations per second, searches through and reassembles key words and patterns, across many languages."

Authorities said a stolen gun was recovered when a detective tried to used the suspect's bathroom and couldn't get the toilet to work. A detective investigating the theft of a handgun, jewelry and cash from a Jensen Beach home was told a possible suspect might be staying at a Port St. Lucie hotel.
The detective met with a 21-year-old suspect and during an interview, the detective asked to use the man's bathroom.
When the detective couldn't get the toilet to flush, he took off the tank cover to see what the problem was. That's when he found the handgun and three magazines with bullets.
The man was charged Dec. 22 with grand theft and grand theft of a firearm.
